    Scan a Document with the Operation Panel
    Y\fu can scan a d\fcument using the Scan m\fde.
    1	Make sure that a computer and the machine are connected (See Getting 
    Started)\f
    2	Place your documents (→p\f18)\f
     
    3	Switch to the Scan mode (→p\f15)\f
    4	Press [▲] or [▼] to highlight , and then press [OK]\f
     
    5	Press [▲] or [▼] to specify a destination, and then press [OK]\f
    •	
    When multiple c\fmputers are c\fnnected, the c\fmputer c\fnnected by a US\b cable 
    is listed \fn the t\fp.
     
    6	Press [▲] or [▼] to specify the scan settings, and then press [OK]\f
    
    •	Scan the d\fcument in c\fl\fr (300 dpi), and then save as a 
    PDF file.

    Canceling Scan Jobs

    \by default, a new f\flder named after the date y\fu scanned is created in the [Pictures] f\flder.

    Scanning a Document Using a Shortcut Key
    Y\fu can perf\frm a scan easily by registering destinati\fns and frequently used settings in 
    sh\frtcut keys in advance.
    Registering a Shortcut Key
    1	Press [  ]\f
    2	Press [▲] or [▼] to highlight , and then press [OK]\f
    3	Press [▲] or [▼] to highlight , and then press 
    [OK]\f
    4	Press [▲] or [▼] to highlight , and then press [OK]\f

    T\f c\fnfirm the destinati\fn registered in the sh\frtcut key, select   
    < Confirm Destination >.
    5	Press [▲] or [▼] to highlight the shortcut key that you want to register,

    6	Press [▲] or [▼] to highlight the connection method, and then press [OK]\f
    7	Press [▲] or [▼] to highlight the destination computer, and then press 
    [OK]\f

    Y\fu can specify vari\fus scan settings if y\fu select < Remote Scanner> fr\fm the \fperati\fn 
    panel, and then \fpen MF T\f\flb\fx.
    1	Make sure that the computer and machine are connected (See Getting 
    Started)\f
    2	Place your documents (→p\f18)\f
    3	Switch to the Scan mode (→p\f15)\f
    4	Press [▲] or [▼] to highlight , and then press [OK]\f
     
    5	From your computer, double-click the [Canon MF Toolbox] icon\f

    6	When MF Toolbox appears, click the desired scan mode button\f
    [Mail]
    •	The scan preset f\fr an e-mail attachment is displayed.
    •	The scanned d\fcument will be attached t\f a new message 
    in y\fur e-mail applicati\fn.
    [OCR]
    •	The scan preset f\fr the OCR (Optical Character Reader) is 
    displayed.
    •	The scanned d\fcument will be read by y\fur OCR s\fftware.
    [Save]
    •	The scan preset f\fr a high quality scanning is displayed.
    •	The scanned d\fcument will be saved in the default f\flder 
    \fr in a destinati\fn that y\fu specify.
    [PDF]
    •	The scan preset f\fr the multiple page searchable PDF is 
    displayed.
    •	The scanned d\fcument will be saved as a PDF file.

    7	When the scan setting window appears, specify the scan settings as

    8	Click [Start] to start scanning\f •	
    When scanning is c\fmplete, the f\flder in which the scanned d\fcument is saved is 
    \fpened aut\fmatically.
    •	The scanned d\fcument will be \fpened in the registered applicati\fn.
    9	When scanning is complete, click [  ] to close MF Toolbox\f

    Configuring Scan Settings Using MF Toolbox
    This secti\fn describes the lay\fut and features \ff each setting dial\fg b\fx \ff MF T\f\flb\fx.

    •	Set the l\fcati\fn \ff a d\fcument t\f 
    be scanned.
    •	[Auto Mode ] that detects 
    the s\furce aut\fmatically is 
    rec\fmmended.
    •	Set the size \ff the d\fcument t\f be 
    scanned.
    •	Set the input meth\fd based \fn 
    the type \ff d\fcument placed in 
    the feeder (MF8580Cdw \fnly).
    •	Set the maximum size limit \ff the 
    file that is attached t\f the e-mail.
    •	This item is available \fnly when 
    y\fu scan using the [ Mail] m\fde.
    •	Set the c\fl\fr m\fde.
    •	This setting is n\ft available when 
    scanning using the [ Color Scan] 
    \fr [ B&\f Scan ] butt\fn.
    •	Set the scanning res\fluti\fn.
    •	If y\fu select a higher res\fluti\fn, 
    the image quality bec\fmes higher, 
    and the file size bec\fmes bigger.
    •	Set the file name, file type, and 
    l\fcati\fn t\f be saved f\fr the 
    scanned image.
    •	Manually set the l\fcati\fn t\f save 
    the scanned image by clicking 
    [Browse ].
    •	Select t\f specify the f\frmat \fr 
    l\fcati\fn t\f save the scanned 
    image after scanning. Scanning 
    starts.
    Reset the c\fnfigured settings t\f the 
    default values.
