Each image is displayed for about three seconds. Choose a slideshow transition and start playback. zzPress the button, choose [.] in the menu, and choose the desired option (= 27). XXThe slideshow will start a few seconds after [Loading image] is displayed. zzPress the button to stop the slideshow. • The camera’s power-saving functions ( = 25) are deactivated during slideshows. • To pause or resume slideshows, press the < m> button. • You can switch to other images during playback by pressing the < q> buttons. For fast-forward or fast-rewind, hold the < q> buttons down. • In image search mode ( = 69), only images matching search conditions are played. Changing Slideshow SettingsYou can set up slideshows to repeat, and you can change the transitions between images and the display duration of each image. 1 Access the setting screen. zzPress the button, and then choose [Slideshow] on the [ 1] tab (= 71). 2 Configure the settings. zzChoose a menu item to configure, and then choose the desired option ( = 28). zzTo start the slideshow with your settings, choose [Start] and press the button. zzTo return to the menu screen, press the button. • [Play Time] cannot be modified when [Bubble] is chosen in [Effect]. After you choose to view one of those images, the camera offers four more images. This is an enjoyable way to play back images in an unexpected order. Try this feature after you have taken many shots, in many kinds of scenes\ . 1 Choose Smart Shuffle. zzPress the button, and then choose [] in the menu (= 27). XXFour candidate images are displayed. 2 Choose an image. zzPress the buttons to choose the image you want to view next. XXYour chosen image is displayed in the center, surrounded by the next four candidate images. zzFor full-screen display of the center image, press the button. To restore the original display, press the button again. zzPress the button to restore single-image display. • Only still images shot with this camera are played back using Smart Shuffle. • Smart Shuffle is not available in the following cases: - There are less than 50 shots taken with this camera - An unsupported image is currently displayed - Images are shown in filtered display ( = 69) Still ImagesMovies Protecting Images Protect important images to prevent accidental erasure by the camera (= 74). zzPress the button, and then choose [:] in the menu (= 27). [Protected] is displayed. zzTo cancel protection, repeat this process and choose [ :] again, and then press the button. • Protected images on a memory card will be erased if you format the card (= 109, 110). • Protected images cannot be erased using the camera’s erasure function. Still ImagesMovies Erasing Images You can choose and erase unneeded images one by one. Be careful when erasing images, because they cannot be recovered. However, protected images (= 72) cannot be erased. 1 Choose an image to erase. zzPress the buttons to choose an image. 2 Erase the image. zzPress the button, and then choose [a] in the menu (= 27). zzAfter [Erase?] is displayed, press the buttons to choose [Erase], and then press the button. Deactivating Auto Rotation Follow these steps to deactivate automatic rotation by the camera, which\ rotates images shot in vertical orientation so they are displayed vertic\ ally on the camera. zzPress the button, choose [Auto Rotate] on the [1] tab, and then choose [Off] (= 28). • Images cannot be rotated ( = 76) when you set [Auto Rotate] to [Off]. Additionally, images already rotated will be displayed in the original orientation. • In Smart Shuffle (= 72) mode, even if [Auto Rotate] is set to [Off], images shot vertically will be displayed vertically, and rotated images will be displayed in the rotated orientation. Image Categories You can organize images by tagging them as favorites. By choosing a category in filtered playback, you can restrict the following operations to all of those images. • Viewing ( = 67), Viewing Slideshows ( = 71), Protecting Images (= 72), Erasing Images ( = 74), Adding Images to the Print List (DPOF) (= 121), Adding Images to a Photobook ( = 123) Still ImagesMovies Tagging Images as Favorites zzPress the button, and then choose [] in the menu (= 27). XX[Tagged as Favorite] is displayed. zzTo untag the image, repeat this process and choose [] again, and then press the button. (Does not apply to movies.) Editing Still Images • Image editing ( = 78 – 81) is only available when the memory card has sufficient free space. Still Images Resizing Images Save a copy of images at a lower resolution. 1 Choose [Resize]. zzPress the button and choose [Resize] on the [1] tab (= 28). 2 Choose an image. zzPress the buttons to choose an image, and then press the < m> button. 3 Choose an image size. zzPress the buttons to choose the size, and then press the button. XXThe saved image is now displayed. • Editing is not possible for images saved as [] in step 3. • Images cannot be resized to a higher resolution. Still Images Cropping You can specify a portion of an image to save as a separate image file. 1 Choose [Cropping]. zzPress the button, and then choose [Cropping] on the [ 1] tab (= 28). 2 Choose an image. zzPress the buttons to choose an image, and then press the < m> button. 3 Adjust the cropping area. XXA frame is displayed around the portion of the image to be cropped. XXThe original image is shown in the upper left, and a preview of the image as cropped is shown in the lower right. zzTo resize the frame, move the zoom lever. zzTo move the frame, press the buttons. zzTo change the frame orientation, press the button. zzPress the button. 4 Save as a new image and review. zzFollow steps 4 – 5 in “Resizing Images” (= 78). • Editing is not possible for images shot at a resolution of [] (= 39) or resized to [] (= 78). • Images supported for cropping will have the same aspect ratio after crop\ ping. • Cropped images will have a smaller resolution than uncropped images. For details on each option, see “Changing Image Color Tones (My Colors)” (= 58). 1 Choose [My Colors]. zzPress the button, and then choose [My Colors] on the [1] tab (= 28). 2 Choose an image. zzPress the buttons to choose an image, and then press the < m> button. 3 Choose an option. zzPress the buttons to choose an option, and then press the < m> button. 4 Save as a new image and review. zzFollow steps 4 – 5 in “Resizing Images” (= 78). • Image quality of pictures you repeatedly edit this way will be a little lower each time, and you may not be able to obtain the desired color. • The color of images edited using this function may vary slightly from th\ e color of images shot using My Colors ( = 58). Still Images Correcting Image Brightness (i-Contrast) Excessively dark image areas (such as faces or backgrounds) can be detected and automatically adjusted to the optimal brightness. Insufficient overall image contrast is also automatically corrected, to make subjects\ stand out better. Choose from four correction levels, and then save the image as a separate file. 1 Choose [i-Contrast]. zzPress the button, and then choose [i-Contrast] on the [1] tab (= 28). 2 Choose an image. zzPress the buttons to choose an image, and then press the button. 3 Choose an option. zzPress the buttons to choose an option, and then press the < m> button. 4 Save as a new image and review. zzFollow steps 4 – 5 in “Resizing Images” (= 78). • For some images, correction may be inaccurate or may cause images to appear grainy. • Images may look grainy after repeated editing using this function. • If [Auto] does not produce the expected results, try correcting images u\ sing [Low], [Medium], or [High].
