You can magnify images up to about 10x by continuing to hold the zoom lever. zzTo zoom out, move the zoom lever toward . You can return to single- image display by continuing to hold it. 2 Move the display position and switch images as needed. zzTo move the display position, press the buttons. zzWhile [] is displayed, you can switch to [] by pressing the button. To switch to other images while zoomed, press the buttons. Press the button again to restore the original setting. • You can return to single-image display from magnified display by pressing the button. Approximate Position of Displayed Area Still ImagesMovies Viewing Slideshows Automatically play back images from a memory card as follows. Each image is displayed for about three seconds. Choose a slideshow transition and start playback. zzPress the button, choose [.] in the menu, and choose the desired option (= 30). XXThe slideshow will start a few seconds after [Loading image] is displayed. zzPress the button to stop the slideshow. • The camera’s power-saving functions ( = 28) are deactivated during slideshows. • To pause or resume slideshows, press the < m> button. • You can switch to other images during playback by pressing the < q> buttons. For fast-forward or fast-rewind, hold the < q> buttons down. • In image search mode ( = 70), only images matching search conditions are played.

Still ImagesMovies Protecting Images Protect important images to prevent accidental erasure by the camera (= 74). zzPress the button, and then choose [:] in the menu (= 30). [Protected] is displayed. zzTo cancel protection, repeat this process and choose [ :] again, and then press the button. To erase them this way, first cancel protection. Choosing Images Individually 1 Choose [Select]. zzFollowing step 2 in “Using the Menu” (= 72), choose [Select] and press the button. 2 Choose an image. zzPress the buttons to choose an image, and then press the < m> button. [ ] is displayed. zzTo cancel selection, press the < m> button again. [] is no longer displayed. zzRepeat this process to specify other images. 3 Protect the image. zzPress the button. A confirmation message is displayed. zzPress the buttons to choose [OK], and then press the button. • Images will not be protected if you switch to Shooting mode or turn the camera off before finishing the setup process in step 3. Specifying All Images at Once 1 Choose [Select All Images]. zzFollowing step 2 in “Using the Menu” (= 72), choose [Select All Images] and press the button. 2 Protect the images. zzPress the buttons to choose [Protect], and then press the button. • To cancel protection for groups of images, choose [Unlock] in step 2.

Be careful when erasing images, because they cannot be recovered. However, protected images (= 72) cannot be erased. 1 Choose an image to erase. zzPress the buttons to choose an image. 2 Erase the image. zzPress the button. zzAfter [Erase?] is displayed, press the buttons to choose [Erase], and then press the button. XXThe current image is now erased. zzTo cancel erasure, press the < q> buttons to choose [Cancel], and then press the button. Erasing All Images You can erase all images at once. Deactivating Auto Rotation Follow these steps to deactivate automatic rotation by the camera, which\ rotates images shot in vertical orientation so they are displayed vertic\ ally on the camera. zzPress the button, choose [Auto Rotate] on the [1] tab, and then choose [Off] (= 31). • Images cannot be rotated ( = 75) when you set [Auto Rotate] to [Off]. Additionally, images already rotated will be displayed in the original orientation.

Still Images Resizing Images Save a copy of images at a lower resolution. 1 Choose [Resize]. zzPress the button and choose [Resize] on the [1] tab (= 31). 2 Choose an image. zzPress the buttons to choose an image, and then press the < m> button. 3 Choose an image size. zzPress the buttons to choose the size, and then press the button. XX[Save new image?] is displayed. 4 Save the new image. zzPress the buttons to choose [OK], and then press the button. XXThe image is now saved as a new file. 5 Review the new image. zzPress the button. [Display new image?] is displayed. zzPress the buttons to choose [Yes], and then press the button. XXThe saved image is now displayed. • Editing is not possible for images shot at a resolution of [] (= 42) or saved as [] in step 3. • Images cannot be resized to a higher resolution.

Insufficient overall image contrast is also automatically corrected, to make subjects\ stand out better. Choose from four correction levels, and then save the image as a separate file. 1 Choose [i-Contrast]. zzPress the button, and then choose [i-Contrast] on the [1] tab (= 31). 2 Choose an image. zzPress the buttons to choose an image, and then press the < m> button. 3 Choose an option. zzPress the buttons to choose an option, and then press the < m> button. 4 Save as a new image and review. zzFollow steps 4 – 5 in “Resizing Images” (= 77). • For some images, correction may be inaccurate or may cause images to appear grainy. • Images may look grainy after repeated editing using this function. • If [Auto] does not produce the expected results, try correcting images u\ sing [Low], [Medium], or [High]. Still Images Correcting Red-Eye Automatically corrects images affected by red-eye. You can save the corrected image as a separate file. 1 Choose [Red-Eye Correction]. zzPress the button, and then choose [Red-Eye Correction] on the [ 1] tab (= 31). 2 Choose an image. zzPress the buttons to choose an image. 3 Correct the image. zzPress the button. XXRed-eye detected by the camera is now corrected, and frames are displayed around corrected image areas. zzEnlarge or reduce images as needed. Follow the steps in “Magnifying Images” (= 71). 4 Save as a new image and review. zzPress the buttons to choose [New File], and then press the button. XXThe image is now saved as a new file. zzFollow step 5 in “Resizing Images” (= 77).
