31 VIDEO INPUT SELECTING THE INPUT SOURCE MENU OPERATION DIRECT OPERATION Choose Video by pressing the INPUT button on the Top Control or on the Remote Control Unit. If the projector cannot reproduce a proper video source, select correct input source through the “MENU OPERATION”(see below). Press the MENU button and the ON-SCREEN MENU will appear. Press the POINT LEFT/RIGHT button to move the red frame pointer to the INPUT Menu icon. Press the POINT DOWN button to move the red arrow pointer to Video and then press the SET button. The Source Select Menu will appear. 1 2 Move the pointer to Video and press the SET button. VIDEO Move the pointer to the source and press the SET button. Source Select Menu (VIDEO) INPUT MENU Move the pointer to the source that you want to select and then press the SET button.3 When selecting Auto, the projector automatically detects the incoming video signal, and adjusts itself to optimize its performance. The projector selects the connection in the following order: 1st Y-Pb/Cb-Pr/Cr 2nd S-VIDEO 3rd VIDEO Y-Pb/Cb-Pr/Cr has priority over S-VIDEO. S-VIDEO has priority over VIDEO. Auto When the video input signal is connected to VIDEO/Y jack, select Video.Video When the video input signal is connected to S-VIDEO jack, select S-Video.S-Video When the video input signal is connected to VIDEO/Y-Pb/Cb-Pr/Cr jacks, select Y, Pb/Cb, Pr/Cr.Y,Pb/Cb,Pr/Cr INPUT button Computer 1 Video Computer 2 ✽ ✽ Computer 1 is not displayed when RGB IN 1/ OUT terminal is used as MONITOR OUT. ✽ RGB Scart Input To select RGB Scart 21-Pin video input through RGB IN 1 / OUT terminal, see the “COMPUTER INPUT (RGB Scart 21-Pin Video Input)” on page 22. 32 VIDEO INPUT AV SYSTEM MENU (VIDEO OR S-VIDEO) AV SYSTEM MENU (COMPONENT VIDEO) SELECTING THE VIDEO SYSTEM Press the MENU button and the ON-SCREEN MENU will appear. Press the POINT LEFT/RIGHT buttons to move the red frame pointer to the AV SYSTEM Menu icon. Press the POINT DOWN button to move the red arrow pointer to the system that you want to select and then press the SET button. 1 2 If the projector cannot reproduce a proper video image, it is necessary to select a specific broadcast signal format among PAL, SECAM, NTSC, NTSC 4.43, PAL-M, and PAL-N.Move the pointer to the system and press the SET button. PAL / SECAM / NTSC / NTSC4.43 / PAL-M / PAL-N The projector automatically detects the incoming video signal, and adjusts itself to optimize its performance. If the projector cannot reproduce a proper video image, it is necessary to select a specific component video signal format among 480i, 575i, 480p, 575p, 720p, 1035i and 1080i. Auto COMPONENT VIDEO SIGNAL FORMAT VIDEO/Y JACK OR S-VIDEO JACK VIDEO/Y, Pb/Cb, Pr/Cr JACKS The projector automatically detects the incoming video system, and adjusts itself to optimize its performance. The level of each item is displayed. Adjust each level by pressing the POINT LEFT/RIGHT button(s). Move the pointer to the item to be selected and then press the SET button. IMAGE ADJUST MENU IMAGE LEVEL ADJUSTMENT Press the POINT LEFT button to decrease the contrast, and the POINT RIGHT button to increase the contrast. (From 0 to 63.) Press the POINT LEFT button to adjust the image darker, and the POINT RIGHT button to adjust the image brighter. (From 0 to 63.) Contrast Brightness Press the POINT LEFT button or the POINT RIGHT button to obtain a better balance of the contrast. (From 0 to 15.) Gamma Press the SET button at this icon to display other items. IMAGE ADJUST Menu icon Press the POINT LEFT/RIGHT but- tons to adjust the value. Press the POINT LEFT button to lighten the color, and the POINT RIGHT button to darken the color. (From 0 to 63.) Press the POINT LEFT button or the POINT RIGHT button to obtain a proper color. (From 0 to 63.) Color Tint Press the POINT LEFT button to soften the image, and the POINT RIGHT button to sharpen the image. (From 0 to 15.) Sharpness Press the POINT LEFT button to lighten the red tone and the POINT RIGHT button to darken the tone. (From 0 to 63.) White balance (Red) Press the POINT LEFT button to lighten the green tone and the POINT RIGHT button to darken the tone. (From 0 to 63.) White balance (Green) Press the POINT LEFT button to lighten the blue tone and the POINT RIGHT button to darken the tone. (From 0 to 63.) White balance (Blue) NOTE Tint cannot be adjusted when the video system is PAL, SECAM, PAL-M or PAL-N. Press the SET button at this icon to store the value. Press the SET button at this icon to display the previous items. When this function is “ON,”it produces a more vivid image according to the image condition. Auto fleshtone When this function is “ON,”it automatically enhances the contrast of the bright and dark part of image. Auto grayscale
35 VIDEO INPUT PICTURE SCREEN ADJUSTMENT This projector has the picture screen resize function, which enables you to display the desirable image size. Press the MENU button and the ON-SCREEN MENU will appear. Press the POINT LEFT/RIGHT button(s) to move the red frame pointer to the SCREEN Menu icon. Press the POINT DOWN button and move the red frame pointer to the function that you want to select and then press the SET button. 1 2 NOTE The SCREEN Menu cannot be operated when “720p,” “1035i,” or “1080i” is selected on the AV SYSTEM Menu (P32). Move the pointer to the function and press the SET button. SCREEN MENU SCREEN Menu icon Provides the image at a wide screen ratio of 16 : 9. Wide Provides the image at a normal video aspect ratio of 4 : 3. Normal 3 To store the manual image level, move the red frame pointer to the Store icon and press the SET button. The message “OK?” will appear. Select [Yes] to store manual adjustment. To set this manual adjustment, select Custom by pressing the IMAGE button or through the IMAGE SELECT Menu (refer to P33). Store icon Reset all adjustments to the previous figure. Reset Store Closes the IMAGE Menu. Quit Other icons operate as follows. “OK?” message Move the pointer to [Yes] and then press the SET button.
36 SETTING Ceiling When this function is “On,” the picture is top / bottom and left / right reversed. This function is used to project the image from a ceiling mounted projector. Rear When this function is “On,” the picture is left / right reversed. This function is used to project the image to a rear projection screen. Ceiling function Rear function Keystone This function corrects the distorted image. Select either Store or Reset, and then press the SET button. The keystone dialog box appears. (Refer to page 20.) Store ····stores the keystone adjustment data when the AC Power Cord is disconnected. Reset ····resets the keystone adjustment data when the AC Power Cord is disconnected. SETTING MENU Press the MENU button and the ON-SCREEN MENU will appear. Press the POINT LEFT/RIGHT button(s) to move the red frame pointer to the SETTING icon.1 2 Language The language used in the ON-SCREEN MENU is available in English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, Swedish, Russian, Chinese, Korean, and Japanese. Display This function decides whether to display the On-Screen Displays. On ···shows all the On-Screen Displays. Off ····sets the On-Screen Displays disappeared except; ON-SCREEN MENU “Power off?” message P-TIMER “No signal” message “Wait a moment!” message Set the pointer to the item and press the SET button.Press the POINT DOWN button to move the red frame pointer to the item that you want to set and then press the SET button. The setting dialog box appears. Blue back When this function is “On,” the projector produces a blue image while the input signal is not detected. Logo When this function is “On,” the projector displays our logo when starting up. When pressing the SET button at Language, the Language Menu appears. Move the pointer to the item and then press the POINT LEFT/RIGHT button(s). SETTING MENU SETTING Menu icon Terminal RGB IN 1 / OUT terminal on the back of the projector can be used as computer input or monitor output by switching with the POINT LEFT/RIGHT button. (See the right Note.) To use the terminal as computer input, select Computer 1. To use the terminal as monitor out, select Monitor out.NOTE This Terminal item cannot be selected when the input source is selected as “Computer 1”in the “SELECTING THE INPUT SOURCE”(P22).
37 SETTING This function turns the Projection Lamp off when this projector detects a signal interruption and is not used for a certain period in order to reduce the power consumption and maintain the Lamp-life. (This projector is shipped with this function ON.) The Power Management function operates to turn the Projection Lamp off when the input signal is interrupted and any button is not pressed over 5 minutes. This function operates as follows; 1. When any input signal is interrupted, “No signal” and the count down display appears (for 5 minutes). 2. After counting down for 5 minutes, the Projection Lamp and the READY Indicator are turned off. (Cooling Fans keep running.) 3. The READY Indicator starts to flash after cooling down the Projection Lamp about for 90 seconds (Power Management mode). In this Power Management mode, the Projection Lamp is automatically turned on when the input signal is connected or the projector is operated with any button on the Top Control or on the Remote Control Unit again. Power management This function is used to reset the Lamp Replace Counter. When replacing the Projection Lamp, reset the Lamp Replace Counter by using this function. Refer to page 39 for operation. Lamp counter reset Remote control This projector has two different remote control codes; the factory-set normal code (Code 1) and the secondary code (Code 2). This switching function prevents remote control interference when operating several projectors or video equipment together. When operating the projector in “Code 2,” both the projector and the Remote Control Unit must be switched to “Code 2.” To change the code of the Projector; Set the Remote control in the SETTING Menu to “Code 2.” To change the code of the Remote Control Unit; Press both the MENU and the IMAGE buttons on the Remote Control Unit together for over 10 seconds. After changing the code, make sure the Remote Control Unit operates properly. To return to the normal code (Code 1), repeat the steps above. NOTE : When the batteries of the Remote Control Unit are replaced or ALL-OFF switch is turned to “ALL-OFF,” the remote control code automatically returns to the normal code (Code 1). On start When this function is “On,” the projector is automatically turned on just by connecting the AC Power Cord to an AC outlet. NOTE : Be sure to turn the projector off properly (refer to the section “TURNING OFF THE PROJECTOR” on P19). If the projector is turned off in the wrong steps, the On Start function does not operate properly. Move the pointer to the item and then press the POINT LEFT/RIGHT button(s). Press the SET button at this icon to display other items. Press the SET button at this icon to display the previous items. Time left until Lamp off. Lamp mode When selecting the “”(Silent), the projector reduces the brightness and sets into the low power consumption mode.
38 APPENDIX LAMP REPLACEMENT LAMP REPLACE When the life of the Projection Lamp of this projector draws to an end, the LAMP REPLACE indicator lights yellow. If this indicator lights yellow, replace the Projection Lamp with a new one promptly. Follow these steps to replace the lamp assembly. LAMP ASSEMBLYHANDLE LAMP COVER ORDER REPLACEMENT LAMP The Replacement Lamp can be ordered through your dealer. When ordering a Projection Lamp, give the following information to the dealer. Model No. of your projector : LV-5200 Replacement Lamp Type No. : LV-LP16 (610 303 5826) For continued safety, replace with a lamp assembly of the same type. Do not drop the lamp assembly or touch the glass bulb! The glass can shatter and may cause injury.Allow the projector to cool, for at least 45 minutes before you open the Lamp Cover. The inside of the projector can become very hot. US Y NELAMP REPLACE LAMP WARNING TEMP. This indicator lights yellow when the life of the Projection Lamp draws to an end. Replace the Projection Lamp with a new one promptly. TOP CONTROL CAUTION SCREW SCREW Turn off the projector and disconnect the AC plug. Allow the projector to cool for at least 45 minutes. Loosen 3 screws with a screwdriver and pull out the Lamp Assembly by grasping the Handle. 1 3 Replace the Lamp Assembly with a new one and tighten 3 screws back into position. Make sure the Lamp Assembly is set properly. Replace The Lamp Cover and tighten the screw.4 To remove the Lamp Cover, remove the screw with a screwdriver.2 Connect the AC Power Cord to the projector and turn on the projector. 6Reset the Lamp Replace Counter. Refer to the “LAMP REPLACE COUNTER” on the next page . 5
39 APPENDIX LAMP REPLACE COUNTER Be sure to reset the Lamp Replace Counter after the Lamp Assembly is replaced. When the Lamp Replace Counter is reset, the LAMP REPLACE Indicator stops lighting. NOTE : Do not reset the Lamp Replace Counter until after the Projection Lamp is replaced. Turn the projector on, press the MENU button and the ON- SCREEN MENU will appear. Press the POINT LEFT/RIGHT button(s) to move the red frame pointer to the SETTING Menu icon (refer to page 36, 37). Press the POINT DOWN button to move the red frame pointer to “Lamp counter reset” and then press the SET button. The message “ Lamp replace counter reset?” is displayed. Move the red arrow pointer to [Yes] and then press the SET button. 1 2 Another confirmation dialog box appears and select [Yes] to reset the Lamp Replace Counter.3 This projector uses a high-pressure lamp which must be handled carefully and properly. Improper handling may result in accidents, injury, or create fire hazard. Lamp lifetime may differ from lamp to lamp and according to the environment of use. There is no guarantee of the same lifetime for each lamp. Some lamps may fail or terminate their lifetime in a shorter period of time than other similar lamps. If the projector indicates that the lamp should be replaced, i.e., if the LAMP REPLACE INDICATOR lights up, replace the lamp with a new one IMMEDIATELY after the projector has cooled down. ( Follow carefully the instructions in the LAMP REPLACEMENT section of this manual. ) Continuous use of the lamp with the LAMP REPLACE INDICATOR lighted may increase the risk of lamp explosion. A Lamp may explode as a result of vibration, shock or degradation as a result of hours of use as its lifetime draws to an end. Risk of explosion may differ according to the environment or conditions in which the projector and lamp are being used. IF A LAMP EXPLODES, THE FOLLOWING SAFETY PRECAUTIONS SHOULD BE TAKEN. If a lamp explodes, disconnect the projector’s AC plug from the AC outlet immediately. Contact an authorized service station for a checkup of the unit and replacement of the lamp. Additionally, check carefully to ensure that there are no broken shards or pieces of glass around the projector or coming out from the cooling air circulation holes. Any broken shards found should be cleaned up carefully. No one should check the inside of the projector except those who are authorized trained technicians and who are familiar with projector service. Inappropriate attempts to service the unit by anyone, especially those who are not appropriately trained to do so, may result in an accident or injury caused by pieces of broken glass. LAMP HANDLING PRECAUTIONS Move the pointer to the Lamp counter reset icon and then press the SET button. The message “Lamp replace counter reset?” is displayed.
40 APPENDIX OPERATING WIRELESS MOUSE INSTALLATION The Remote Control Unit is not only able to operate this projector but also usable as a wireless mouse for most Personal Computers. The POINT buttons and two CLICK buttons are used for wireless mouse operation. This Wireless Mouse function is available only when PC mouse pointer is displayed on a projected screen. When the ON- SCREEN MENU or any message / dialog box is displayed on the screen instead of PC mouse pointer, this Wireless Mouse function cannot be used. Connect the mouse port (or USB port) of your computer to Control Port (or USB connector) of this projector with the Control Cable (or USB cable). (Refer to page 11, 12 for connection.) Turn the projector on first, and then turn on your computer. When the computer is switched on first, Wireless Mouse may not work properly. 1 2 To use the Remote Control Unit as Wireless Mouse for a Personal Computer, installation of the mouse driver (not supplied) is required. Make sure that the mouse driver is properly installed in your computer and that the mouse port (or USB port) of your computer is activated. OPERATING WIRELESS MOUSE When controlling a PC mouse pointer, operate Wireless Mouse with the POINT button, SET button, and RIGHT CLICK button on the Remote Control Unit. Used to move PC mouse pointer. The pointer is moved corresponding with the direction you are pressing. POINT button This button has the same function as the left button in a PC mouse. SET (LEFT CLICK) button This button has the same function as the right button in a PC mouse. This button is not available for controlling this projector. RIGHT CLICK button POINT button (Move the pointer) SET button (left button of the mouse) RIGHT CLICK button (right button of the mouse) Note :When your computer has no mouse port, connect the Serial Port of your computer to the Control Port of the projector with the Control Cable for the Serial Port (not supplied).
