    Using Lens Filters (Sold Separately)
     Still Images Movies
Attaching a lens filter to the camera protects the lens and allows you
to shoot with various effects. To attach a lens filter, you will need Filter
Adapter FA-DC67B, which is included with Lens Hood LH-DC100 (sold
    separately).
    1 Attach the filter adapter.
zMake sure the camera is off.
zAlign the notches on the camera and the
filter adapter and turn the adapter in the
direction of the arrow until locked.
zTo remove the filter adapter, turn it in the
    opposite direction.
    2 Attach a filter.
zTurn the filter in the direction of the arrow
to attach it to the camera.
zMake sure not to attach the filter too
tightly. Doing so could prevent removal of
the filter and damage the camera.
     ● We recommend the use of genuine Canon filters (67 mm dia.). ●When not using auto focus to shoot, set the manual focus option
    [Safety MF] to [On].
●If you use the built-in flash with the filter adapter attached,
portions of the image may appear darker.
●When using the filter adapter, be sure to use only one filter at a
time. Attaching multiple filters, or accessories such as a heavy
lens, may cause the attachments to fall off and become damaged.
●Do not grip the filter adapter tightly. ●Remove the filter adapter when not using a filter or a hood.
    5 Close the cover.
zLower the cover (1) and hold it down as
you slide the switch, until it clicks into the
    closed position (2).
    6 Connect the power cord.
zInsert one end of the power cord into the
compact power adapter, and then plug
the other end into a power outlet.
zTurn the camera on and use it as desired.
zWhen finished, turn the camera off and
unplug the power cord from the outlet.
     ● Do not disconnect the adapter or unplug the power cord while
the camera is still on. This may erase your shots or damage the
    camera.
●Do not attach the adapter or adapter cord to other objects. Doing
so could result in malfunction or damage to the product.

Using a Remote Switch (Sold Separately)
     Still Images Movies
An optional Remote Switch RS-60E3 can be used to avoid camera shake
that may otherwise occur when pressing the shutter button directly . This
optional accessory is convenient when shooting at slow shutter speeds.
    1 Connect the remote switch.
z Make sure the camera is off.
zOpen the terminal cover and insert the
    remote switch plug.
    2 Shoot.

Using a Lens Hood (Sold Separately)
     Still Images Movies
For wide-angle shots of backlit subjects without using the flash, attach
optional Lens Hood LH-DC100/Filter Adapter FA-DC67B to prevent light
outside the angle of view from entering the lens. To attach a hood, you will
need Filter Adapter FA-DC67B, which is included with the lens hood.
zMake sure the camera is off.
zAttach the filter adapter as described
in step 1 of “Using Lens Filters (Sold
    Separately)” ( =
     171).
     z
Align the lens hood mark (2) with the filter
adapter mark (1), and turn the lens hood
in the direction of the arrow until it locks
    in place.
zTo remove the hood, hold down the hood
release button (3) and turn the hood in
    the opposite direction.
zTo attach the lens hood inverted (as
shown) when the hood is not used, align
the lens hood mark (2) with the filter
adapter mark (1), and turn the lens hood
in the direction of the arrow until it locks
    in place.

    Using an Electronic Viewfinder
    (Sold Separately)
     Still Images Movies
Shooting is easier with an optional electronic viewfinder, which helps you
concentrate on keeping subjects in focus.
Note that fewer shots and less recording time are available than when
using the screen (LCD monitor) on the back of the camera. For guidelines
on the number of shots and recording time available, see “Number of
    Shots/Recording Time, Playback Time” (=
     212).
1 Make sure the camera is off.
2 Attach the electronic viewfinder to
    the hot shoe.
     z
    Remove the viewfinder cover.
     zInsert the viewfinder’s connection
component into the hot shoe ( = 173) as
shown until it clicks into place.
3 Adjust the electronic viewfinder to
    the desired angle.
z You can adjust the angle of the viewfinder
up to about 90° to suit the scene or how
    you are shooting.
    Using the Hot Shoe
     Still Images Movies
Use the hot shoe to attach an optional electronic viewfinder or external
    flash.
1 Remove the hot shoe cap.
zPull off the cap as shown.
zTo avoid losing the cap after removal,
store it in the viewfinder or flash case.
2 Attaching the Hot Shoe Cap
zAfter removing a viewfinder or flash,
reattach the hot shoe cap to protect the
    hot shoe.
     zInsert the cap as shown.
     ● Prevent the built-in flash from rising when you attach accessories
other than an electronic viewfinder to the hot shoe. Otherwise,
the flash may strike the accessory. Note that the built-in flash will
    not fire.
●To avoid contact between the screen and any viewfinder or flash
on the hot shoe, do not tilt the screen up when these accessories
    are attached.

●Although the viewfinder is produced under extremely high-
precision manufacturing conditions and more than 99.99% of the
pixels meet design specifications, in rare cases some pixels may
be defective or may appear as red or black dots. This does not
indicate camera damage or affect recorded images.
●Some aspect ratio settings ( = 52) will cause black bars to be
displayed on the top and bottom or left and right edges of the
screen. These areas will not be recorded.
     ● You can switch between viewfinder and screen display by
    pressing the viewfinder’s [] button. ●If you have selected MENU ( = 31) ► [1] tab ► [Display
