    Even if the exposure settings you have set are not suitable, the camera
    will automatically alter the settings to obtain a standard exposure. Thi\
    s
    feature is convenient when the scene’s brightness changes suddenly.
    This setting is suited for subjects whose focusing distance changes
    irregularly.
    The focusing point selection range expands by one point all around the
    manually-selected focusing point. This setting is effective when the
    manually-selected focusing point is unable to focus track a subject
    moving irregularly.
    As shown in the table below, the camera sets the focusing point selectio\
    n
    range automatically to suit the lens focal length, AF mode, and subject
    movement during predictive AF. This feature is useful when the subject

    Picture-Taking Custom Functions No. Setting
    1 Enable the < > dial to set the aperture in manual
    exposure mode.
    2 Enable the aperture to be set with the camera even with
    the lens detached.
    3 Set the shutter speed and aperture increments to full
    stops.
    4 Set the exposure compensation (including flash
    exposure compensation) increments to half stops.
    5 Prevent AEB from canceling when the lens is
    interchanged or when film is replaced.
    6 Set the AEB sequence to underexposure, standard
    exposure, and overexposure.
    7 Link spot metering to the focusing point.
    8 Enable faster focusing point selection.
    9 In the shutter speed-priority AE mode, enable a standard
    exposure automatically even when the lighting conditions
    change suddenly.
    0 In the aperture-priority AE mode, enable a standard
    exposure automatically even when the lighting conditions
    change suddenly.

    If there is a problem, first refer to this Troubleshooting Guide. If the\
    problem still persists, take the camera to your nearest Canon Service
    Center. Canon Service Centers are listed on the back of this booklet.
