By choosing a category in filtered playback, you can restrict the following operations to all of those images. • Viewing (= 70), Viewing Slideshows ( = 73), Protecting Images (= 75), Erasing Images (= 78), Adding Images to the Print List (DPOF) (= 107), Adding Images to a Photobook ( = 11 0) zzPress the button, and then choose [] in the menu (= 23). zz[Tagged as Favorite] is displayed. zzTo untag the image, repeat this process and choose [] again, and then press the button. Using the Menu 1 Choose [Favorites]. zzPress the button and choose [Favorites] on the [1] tab (= 24). 2 Choose an image. zzPress the buttons or turn the dial to choose an image, and then press the button. [ ] is displayed. zzTo untag the image, press the < m> button again. [] is no longer displayed. zzRepeat this process to choose additional images. 3 Finish the setup process. zzPress the button. A confirmation message is displayed. zzPress the buttons or turn the dial to choose [OK], and then press the button. • Images will not be tagged as favorites if you switch to Shooting mode or turn the camera off before finishing the setup process in step 3. • Favorite images will have a three-star rating () when transferred to computers running Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista. Still Images Resizing Images Save a copy of images at a lower resolution. 1 Choose [Resize]. zzPress the button and choose [Resize] on the [1] tab (= 24). 2 Choose an image. zzPress the buttons or turn the dial to choose an image, and then press the button. 3 Choose an image size. zzPress the buttons or turn the dial to choose the size, and then press the button. zz[Save new image?] is displayed. 4 Save the new image. zzPress the buttons or turn the dial to choose [OK], and then press the button. zzThe image is now saved as a new file. 5 Review the new image. zzPress the button. [Display new image?] is displayed. zzPress the buttons or turn the dial to choose [Yes], and then press the button. zzThe saved image is now displayed. • Editing is not possible for images shot at a resolution of [ ] (= 36) or saved as [] in step 3. • Images cannot be resized to a higher resolution. Still Images Cropping You can specify a portion of an image to save as a separate image file. 1 Choose [Cropping]. zzPress the button, and then choose [Cropping] on the [ 1] tab (= 24).

To crop the image based on this frame, turn the dial to switch to the other frame. zzPress the button. 4 Save as a new image and review. zzFollow steps 4 – 5 in “Resizing Images” (= 82). • Editing is not possible for images shot at a resolution of [ ] (= 36) or resized to [] (= 82). • Images supported for cropping will have the same aspect ratio after crop\ ping. • Cropped images will have a lower resolution than uncropped images. For details on each option, see “Changing Image Color Tones (My Colors)” (= 55). 1 Choose [My Colors]. zzPress the button, and then choose [My Colors] on the [1] tab (= 24). 2 Choose an image. zzPress the buttons or turn the dial to choose an image, and then press the button. 3 Choose an option. zzPress the buttons or turn the dial to choose an option, and then press the button. 4 Save as a new image and review. zzFollow steps 4 – 5 in “Resizing Images” (= 82). • Image quality of pictures you repeatedly edit this way will be a little \ lower each time, and you may not be able to obtain the desired color. • The color of images edited using this function may vary slightly from th\ e color of images shot using My Colors ( = 55).

Insufficient overall image contrast is also automatically corrected, to make subjects\ stand out better. Choose from four correction levels, and then save the image as a separate file. 1 Choose [i-Contrast]. zzPress the button, and then choose [i-Contrast] on the [1] tab (= 24). 2 Choose an image. zzPress the buttons or turn the dial to choose an image, and then press the button. 3 Choose an option. zzPress the buttons or turn the dial to choose an option, and then press the button. 4 Save as a new image and review. zzFollow steps 4 – 5 in “Resizing Images” (= 82). • For some images, correction may be inaccurate or may cause images to appear grainy. • Images may look grainy after repeated editing using this function. • If [Auto] does not produce the expected results, try correcting images u\ sing [Low], [Medium], or [High]. Still Images Correcting Red-Eye Automatically corrects images affected by red-eye. You can save the corrected image as a separate file. 1 Choose [Red-Eye Correction]. zzPress the button, and then choose [Red-Eye Correction] on the [ 1] tab (= 24). 2 Choose an image. zzPress the buttons or turn the dial to choose an image. 3 Correct the image. zzPress the button. zzRed-eye detected by the camera is now corrected, and frames are displayed around corrected image areas. zzEnlarge or reduce images as needed. Follow the steps in “Magnifying Images” (= 73). 4 Save as a new image and review. zzPress the buttons or turn the dial to choose [New File], and then press the button. zzThe image is now saved as a new file. zzFollow step 5 in “Resizing Images” (= 82).

In this case, the original image will be erased. • Protected images cannot be overwritten.Movies Editing Movies You can cut movies to remove unneeded portions at the beginning or end. 1 Choose [*]. zzFollowing steps 1 – 5 in “Viewing” (= 70), choose [*] and press the button. zzThe movie editing panel and editing bar are now displayed. 2 Specify portions to cut. zzPress the buttons to choose [] or []. zzTo view the portions you can cut (identified by [] on the screen), press the buttons or turn the dial to move [ ]. Cut the beginning of the movie (from []) by choosing [], and cut the end of the movie by choosing [ ]. zzIf you move [] to a position other than a [] mark, in [] the portion before the nearest [] mark on the left will be cut, while in [] the portion after the nearest [] mark on the right will be cut. The edited movie is now played. zzTo edit the movie again, repeat step 2. zzTo cancel editing, press the < o> buttons to choose []. In this case, the original movie will be erased. • If the memory card lacks sufficient space, only [Overwrite] will be available. • Movies may not be saved if the battery pack runs out while saving is in progress. • When editing movies, you should use a fully charged battery pack or an AC adapter kit (sold separately, = 97).

Customize commonly used functions as desired, for greater convenience ( = 24). Silencing Camera Operations Silence camera sounds and movies as follows. zzChoose [Mute], and then choose [On]. • Operation can also be silenced by holding down the < l> button as you turn the camera on. • Sound is not played during movies ( = 70) if you mute camera sounds. To restore sound during movies, press the < o> button. Adjust volume with the buttons, as needed. • Sound settings cannot be changed in [ ] mode (= 49). Adjusting the Volume Adjust the volume of individual camera sounds as follows. zzChoose [Volume], and then press the button. zzChoose an item, and then press the buttons to adjust the volume. Hiding Hints and Tips Hints and tips are normally shown when you choose FUNC. ( = 23) or MENU (= 24) items. If you prefer, you can deactivate this information. zzChoose [Hints & Tips], and then choose [Off].

World Clock To ensure that your shots will have the correct local date and time when \ you travel abroad, simply register the destination in advance and switch to \ that time zone. This convenient feature eliminates the need to change the Date/ Time setting manually. Before using the world clock, be sure to set the date and time and your \ home time zone, as described in “Setting the Date and Time” (= 14). 1 Specify your destination. zzChoose [Time Zone], and then press the button. zzPress the buttons or turn the dial to choose [ World], and then press the button. zzPress the buttons or turn the dial to choose the destination. zzTo set daylight saving time (1 hour ahead), press the buttons to choose [ ]. zzPress the button. 2 Switch to the destination time zone. zzPress the buttons or turn the dial to choose [ World], and then press the button. zz[] is now shown on the shooting screen (= 11 8 ). • Adjusting the date or time while in [] mode (= 15) will automatically update your [ Home] time and date.

To have the lens retracted immediately after you press the < 1> button, set the retraction timing to [0 sec.]. zzChoose [Lens Retract], and then choose [0 sec.]. Using Eco Mode This function allows you to conserve battery power in Shooting mode. Whe\ n the camera is not in use, the screen quickly darkens to reduce battery consu\ mption. 1 Configure the setting. zzChoose [Eco Mode], and then choose [On]. zz[] is now shown on the shooting screen (= 11 8 ). zzThe screen darkens when the camera is not used for approximately two seconds; approximately ten seconds after darkening, the screen turns off. The camera turns off after approximately three minutes of inactivity. 2 Shoot. zzTo activate the screen and prepare for shooting when the screen is off but the lens is still out, press the shutter button halfway. Power-Saving Adjustment Adjust the timing of automatic camera and screen deactivation (Auto Pow\ er Down and Display Off, respectively) as needed ( = 21). zzChoose [Power Saving], and then press the button. zzAfter choosing an item, press the buttons to adjust it as needed. • To conserve battery power, you should normally choose [On] for [Auto Power Down] and [1 min.] or less for [Display Off]. • The [Display Off] setting is applied even if you set [Auto Power Down] to [Off]. • These power-saving functions are not available when you have set Eco mod\ e (= 90) to [On].
