Single and continuous drive modes are provided.

Use the self-timer when you want to be in the picture.

2Select the self-timer.
 While looking at the LCD panel, turn 
the < 6> or < 5> dial to select the 
self-timer delay.
Q : 10-sec. self-timer
k : 2-sec. self-timer
3Take the picture.
 Look through the viewfinder, focus 
the subject, then press the shutter 
button completely.
XYou can check the self-timer 
operation with the self-timer lamp, 
beeper, and countdown display (in 
seconds) on the LCD panel.

Image Settings
This chapter explains image-related function settings: 
Image-recording quality, ISO  speed, Picture Style, white 
balance, Auto Lighting Optimizer, lens peripheral 
illumination correction, chro matic aberration correction, 
and other functions.
  The  M icon at the upper right of the page title indicates that 
the function is available only in Creative Zone modes ( d/
s /f /a/F ).

You can select the pixel count and the image quality. There are eight JPEG 
image-recording quality settings:  73 , 83 , 74 , 84 , 7 a , 8 a , b , c . 
There are three RAW image quality settings:  1, 41 , 61.
1Select [Image quality].
  Under the [ z1] tab, select [Image 
quality ], then press < 0>.
2Select the image-recording quality.
  To select a RAW setting, turn the 
 dial. To select a JPEG setting, 
press the < U> key.

*1: b is suitable for playing the im ages on a digital photo frame.
*2:  c is suitable for emailing the image or using it on a Web site.
  b and c  will be in  7 (Fine) quality.
  The file size, possible sh ots, and maximum burst duri ng continuous shooting 
are based on Canon’s testing standards (3:2 aspect ratio, ISO 100 and

Set the ISO speed (image sensor’s sensitivity to light) to suit the 
ambient light level. In Basic Zone modes, the ISO speed is set 
automatically.
1Press the  button. (9 )
2Set the ISO speed.
 While looking at the LCD panel or the 
viewfinder, turn the < 6> or < 5> 
dial.
  ISO speed can be set within ISO 100 
- 25600 in 1/3-stop increments.
  “A” indicates ISO Auto. The ISO 
speed will be set automatically. You 
can also press the < B> button to 
set it to “ A (AUTO)”.

By selecting a Picture Style, you can obtain image characteristics 
matching your photographic expression or the subject.
In Basic Zone modes,  (Auto) is set automatically.
1Select [Picture Style].
 Under the [ z4] tab, select [Picture 
Style ], then press < 0>.
XThe Picture Style selection screen will 
appear.
2Select a Picture Style.
  Press the < V> key to select a 
Picture Style, then press < 0>.
XThe Picture Style will be set and the 
camera will be ready to shoot.

White balance (WB) is for making the white areas look white. Normally, 
the  (Auto) setting will obtain the co rrect white balance. If natural-
looking colors cannot be obtained with < Q>, you can select the white 
balance to match the light source or  set it manually by shooting a white 
object.
In Basic Zone modes,  is set automatically.
1Select [White balance].
 Under the [ z3] tab, select [White 
balance], then press < 0>.

If the image comes out dark or the contrast is low, the brightness and 
contrast can be corrected automatically . This function is called Auto 
Lighting Optimizer. The default setting is [ Standard]. With JPEG 
images, the correction is appli ed when the image is captured.
In Basic Zone modes, [Standard] is set automatically.
1Select [Auto Lighting Optimizer].
 Under the [ z3] tab, select [Auto 
Lighting Optimizer ], then press 
< 0 >.
2Select the setting.
  Select the desired setting, then press

This function reduces the noise generated in the image. Although noise 
reduction is applied at all  ISO speeds, it is particularly effective at high 
ISO speeds. At low ISO speeds, the noise in the darker parts of the 
image (shadow areas) is further reduced.
1Select [High ISO speed NR].
  Under the [ z4] tab, select [High ISO 
speed NR ], then press < 0>.
2Set the level.
  Select the desired noise reduction 
level, then press < 0>.
