    							Keyboard shortcut: Lock your screen

    By locking the screen, you can help prevent your BlackBerry device from sending accidental messages or pocket dialing. 
    Locking the screen doesn
    						
    							To unlock your device, press the Power/Lock key. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen. When prompted, enter your 
    device password.
    Lock your device with your work space password
    If your BlackBerry device uses BlackBerry Balance technology to separate your work and personal activity, you might be 
    able to use the same password for your work space password and your device password, depending on the rules set by 
    your administrator.
    1.On the home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen.
    2.Tap  Settings > Security and Privacy > Device Password > BlackBerry Balance.
    3.If prompted, type your work space password.
    4.Turn on the Use as my device password switch.
    5.Type your device password. Tap OK.
    6.Type your work space password. Tap OK.
    Unlock your device with a network unlock code
    To obtain the unlock codes for your BlackBerry device, contact your service provider.
    Your device might be network locked which allows your device to make a mobile network connection with only your current 
    service provider. If you plan to travel internationally and you want to use a SIM card from another service provider, you  might need to enter an unlock code.
    Tip: To see the current service provider associated with your device, on the home screen, swipe down from the top of the 
    screen. Tap 
     Settings > About. In the Category drop-down list, tap SIM Card.
    1.On the home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen.
    2.Tap  Settings > Security and Privacy > SIM Card.
    3.In the Phone Network Lock section, tap a locked item.
    4.When prompted, enter the unlock code.
    CAUTION: For security reasons, each unlock code can only be entered incorrectly 10 times. If you exceed the number of 
    allowed attempts to enter an unlock code, your SIM card will allow emergency calls only. For assistance, contact your 
    service provider.
    Change or remove your device password
    CAUTION: If you can
    						
    							1.On the home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen.2.Tap  Settings > Security and Privacy > Device Password > Change Device Password.
    To stop using a password, turn off the Device Password switch.
    How do I reset my device password if I forget it?
    For security reasons, the only way that you can reset your BlackBerry device password without knowing your current device 
    password is to delete all of your device data. You can typically do this by entering an incorrect device password ten times.
    If you have the BlackBerry Protect anti-theft feature turned on, to set up your device again, you will need to enter your 
    BlackBerry ID.
    BlackBerry recommends that you regularly create and save a backup file on your computer.
    Display text when your device is locked
    You can display text on the screen of your BlackBerry device when the device is locked. For example, you can display a 
    favorite quote, emergency contact information, or your own contact information so that if you lose your device, anyone who 
    finds it can contact you.
    1.On the home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen.
    2.Tap  Settings > Security and Privacy > Lock Screen.
    3.In the Lock Screen Message fields, type the text.
    To delete the text that appears on the screen when your device is locked, delete the text in the Lock Screen Message 
    fields.
    Protect your SIM card with a PIN
    You can use a SIM card PIN to prevent unauthorized use of your SIM card in another device. For example, if you lose your 
    SIM card and someone tries to use it in another device, the SIM card can
    						
    							Change your SIM card PIN
    1.On the home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen.
    2.Tap  Settings > Security and Privacy > SIM Card.
    
    						
    							Import a certificate from a smart card
    You can import a certificate from a microSD smart card inserted in your BlackBerry device, or in an external smart card 
    reader that is connected to your device using a USB cable, or that is paired with your device using 
    Bluetooth technology.
    1.On the home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen.
    2.Tap  Settings > Security and Privacy > Smart Card > Import Certificates.
    3.Complete the instructions on the screen.
    Store your smart card password on your device
    You can set your BlackBerry device to temporarily store your smart card password, so that you don
    						
    							If your device is not connected to the wireless network, or if the data services are turned off, you should still try to lock yo\
    ur device and delete your data by using the 
    BlackBerry Protect website. The next time your device connects to a wireless 
    network, or data services are turned on, your device is designed to lock and to wipe all the data.
    If you don
    						
    							Set up BlackBerry Protect on your device
    Your BlackBerry ID username must be a valid email address.
    To use BlackBerry Protect, your BlackBerry device must be connected to a wireless network.
    1.On the home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen.
    2.Tap  Settings > BlackBerry Protect.
    3.Turn on the BlackBerry Protect switch.
    4.If prompted, sign in with your BlackBerry ID.
    5.If prompted, confirm that your BlackBerry ID username is a valid email address.
    6.To be able to view the current location of your device on a map, tap Location Services. Turn on the Location Services 
    switch.
    To use the BlackBerry Protect features, go to http://protect.blackberry.com and sign in with your BlackBerry ID.
    To turn off BlackBerry Protect, on your device, turn off the BlackBerry Protect switch. Enter the password for your 
    BlackBerry ID. Tap Verify.

    Before you wipe your BlackBerry device, consider backing up your data on a computer. You can use BlackBerry Link to 
    back up your device data. To download the latest version of

    2.Tap  Settings > Security and Privacy > Security Wipe.

    							For some apps, when you install the app, you are prompted to accept or decline all of the requested permissions. If you 
    decline, the prompt will appear again the first time you open the app. You can
    						
    							Note: If BlackBerry Balance technology is turned on, the Parental Controls feature is not available.
    Restrict or limit access to features and content
    1.On the home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen.
    2.Tap  Settings > Security and Privacy > Parental Controls.
    3.Turn on the Parental Controls switch.
    4.Enter the Parental Controls password.
    5.Change the options.
