    When using an electrical appliance, 
    basic precautions should be observed, 
    including the following:

    to reduce the risk of fire, 
    electric shock, or injury:
      
    ■    Do not leave appliance when plugged in.
    ■   Unplug from electrical socket when not in use 
    and before servicing.
    ■   Do not modify earthed plug.
    ■   Use indoors only.
    ■   Do not allow to be used as a toy.
    ■   This appliance can be used by children aged 
    from 8 years and above and persons with 
    reduced physical, sensory and mental capabili-
    ties or lack of experience and knowledge if 
    they have been given supervision or instruction 
    concerning use of the appliance in a safe 
    way and understand the hazards involved. 
    Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be 
    made by children without supervision.  
    ■   Children should be supervised to ensure that 
    they do not play with the appliance.
    ■   Use only as described in the user guide.
    ■   Use only manufacturer’s recommended   
    attachments.
    ■    Do not use with damaged cable or plug.
    ■   If the supply cable is damaged, it must be 
    replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent 
    or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid 
    a hazard.
    ■   Do not immerse in water or liquid.
    ■    If appliance is not working as it should, has 
    been dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or 
    dropped into water; do not attempt to operate 
    it and return it to a service center.
    ■   Liquid or steam must not be directed towards   
    equipment containing electrical components.
    ■    Do not pull or carry by cable, use cable as 
    a handle, close door on cable, or pull cable 
    around sharp edges or corners.
    ■   Do not run appliance over cable.
    ■   Keep cable away from heated surfaces.
    ■   Do not unplug by pulling on cable.
    ■   To unplug, grasp the plug, not the cable.
    ■   Do not handle plug or appliance with   
    wet hands.
    ■    Do not put any object into openings.
    ■   Do not use with any opening blocked; keep 
    free of dust, lint, hair, and anything that may 
    reduce air flow.
    ■   Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all parts 
    of body away from openings and moving parts.
    ■   Turn off all controls before unplugging.
    ■   Use extra care when cleaning on stairs.
    ■   Do not use to pick up flammable or combus-
    tible liquids, such as petrol, or use in areas 
    where they may be present.
    ■   Do not pick up toxic material (chlorine bleach,   
    ammonia, drain cleaner, etc.)
    ■    Do not use appliance in an enclosed space 
    filled with vapors given off by oil base paint, 
    some mothproofing substances, flammable 
    dust, or other explosive or toxic vapors.
    ■   Do not pick up hard or sharp objects such as 
    glass, nails, screws, coins, etc.
    ■   Keep appliance on a level surface.
    ■   Do not carry appliance while in use.
    ■   If your appliance is fitted with a nonrewireable 
    BS 1363 plug it must not be used unless a 13 
    amp (ASTA approved to BS 1362) fuse is fitted 
    in the carrier contained in the plug. Spares 
    may be obtained from your BISSELL supplier. 
    If for any reason the plug is cut off, it must be 
    disposed of, as it is an electric shock hazard 
    should it be inserted into a mains socket.

    							your deep cleaner assembles quickly and 
    easily. the only tool you will need for 
    assembly is a phillips head screwdriver.
    1.  locate the screw pack, which is taped  
    to the upper handle.
    2.  slide the upper body onto the lower 
    body, taking care not to leave a gap 
    between the upper and lower body.
    3.  firmly holding the upper body, screw the   
    2 screws into the holes marked with arrows.  
    tip: if you are having difficulty tightening the 
    screws, remove, re-insert, and tighten again.
    4. 
    After tightening the screws, ensure proper fit 
    between the upper and lower body by trying 
    to separate the two. if assembled properly, 
    there should be no gap. if a gap appears 
    between the two (see picture at right), continue 
    to tighten the screws until no gap is present.
    5.  slide upper handle into upper body by 
    aligning the pin and sliding into place.
      note: be sure to secure upper 
    handle before lifting. Rotate handle 
    lock clockwise to secure.
    6. Place solution tank on back of unit.
    7.  Wrap power cord.

    before you clean
    1.  move furniture to another area if  
    cleaning an entire room. (optional)
    2.  Vacuum carpet thoroughly.
    3.  Plan your cleaning route to leave an exit 
    path. it is best to begin cleaning in the 
    corner farthest from your exit.
    4. pretreating  (optional) Pretreat  
    stubborn stains and highly soiled carpet 
    in hallways and other high-traffic areas.
    4a.  Generously spray Bissell stain 
    Pretreat evenly over soiled area.  
    caution: do not oVeR Wet caRpet
    4b. Wait 3-5 minutes before deep cleaning.
    fill the tank
    1. remove the solution tank by lifting   
    it straight up, then away from the   
    lower body.
    2.  unscrew the black cap at the  
    bottom of the solution tank.
    3.  fill with hand hot (60°C/140°f mAX) 
    tap water to the WATer line. fill the rest   
    of the tank with Bissell 2X formula  
    to the formulA line. replace and 
    tighten the black cap.
    note: do not boil water or  
    microwave water as it can  
    damage the tank.
    4.  Place solution tank on lower body.

    1. Plug into proper outlet.
    2.  Adjust the retractable handle by turning 
    counterclockwise and lifting the handle 
    up. Turn clockwise to secure.
    3.  With foot, press the red power lever, 
    located on the back of the machine. 
      note: Handle must be in the full 
    upright position before cleaning.
    4. With foot, press the recline lever  
    located next to power lever.
    5.  Cleaning strokes. While pressing the   
    spray trigger, make one slow forward   
    wet pass and another one back.   
    caution: do not overwet.

    use of cleaning formulas that   
    contain lemon or pine oil may   
    damage this appliance and void   
    the guarantee. Chemical spot   
    cleaners or solvent-based soil   
    removers should not be used.   
    These products may react with   
    the plastic materials used in your   
    deep cleaner causing cracking

    release the spray trigger and make one   
    slow forward and backward pass over   
    the same area. 
    7.  repeat steps 5 and 6 until solution  
    being pulled up appears clean.
    8.  empty the collection tank when dirty  
    water reaches the full line, or when  
    the solution tank is empty.

    1. With foot, press the red power lever to   
    turn unit off and then unplug power cord 
    from outlet.
    2.  remove the collection tank from base of unit. 
     2a.  release collection tank latches  
    (on each side) by pulling up from the  
    bottom of latch and then out. 
     2b.  Carefully remove tank by lifting  
    up on the tank handle. 
    3.  Carry collection tank to a toilet or  
    sink. To empty, pour out contents  
    using opening at back of tank.
    4.  rinse collection tank thoroughly and   
    replace on unit.
    5.  refill solution tank and continue cleaning.

    cleaning after use
    1.  unplug the unit.
    2.  remove and  rinse collection tank thoroughly.
    3.  remove tank vent & foam filter (located   
    on top of the collection tank) and rinse.
    4.  Clean nozzle window by lifting latch 
    and removing nozzle from machine. 
    rinse under running water. 
    5.  for 39Q6 series models, pop out 
    CrossAction Brush by pushing the tabs 
    away from each other and pushing 
    down. once the brush pops out, rinse 
    and replace by snapping the tabs back 
    into place.
    6.  When finished, replace nozzle and  
    secure with latch.
    note: for best results, it is  
    recommended that the nozzle  
    is cleaned after each use.
    7. remove lint and hair from red gasket in 
    base of unit. (do not remove gasket)
    8.  replace the collection tank on the base 
    of the machine and secure with latches.
     
    Machine storage
    for best results, a few simple steps 
    can assure your machine is well   
    maintained after your cleaning   
    is complete.
    1.  Wrap power cord around Quick release 
    Cord Wrap™ on side of the machine.
    2.  Wipe all surfaces with a soft cloth. store 
    cleaner upright in a protected, dry area.
    note: y ou may have cleaning 
    solution remaining in the solution 
    tank. y ou may store your machine 
    this way for the next cleaning 
    task, but never keep dirty water  
    in the collection tank.caution: Do not store unit where 
    freezing may occur.  
    Damage to internal  
    components may result.
    W aRning:To reduce the risk of injury from 
    moving parts and/or electrical 
    shock, turn power switch OFF 
    and disconnect plug from  
    electrical outlet before  
    performing maintenance or 
    troubleshooting checks.
