Resizing Changes an image file to a smaller size, and overwrites the image file or saves it as another new file. To resize an image: 1. Press or to select one of the following options. • To use the default startup image, select Default. • To use a custom image, select My Photos and press or to select an image. • To disable the startup image, select Off. 3. Press to confirm. You cannot trim images in the size of 3:2, 16:9, or VGA, or images captured in Panorama mode. You cannot resize images in the size of 3:2, 16:9, or VGA, or images captured in Panorama mode. 62 Playback mode English DPOF The Digital Print Order Format (DPOF) setting allows you to select images on the memory card for printing and specify the number of print copies in advance using the camera. This is extremely convenient for sending the images to a photo developing service or for printing on a direct print function compatible printer. To set up DPOF: 1. In Playback mode, press > > DPOF. 2. Press or to select one of the following options. • To set the DPOF setting for one image, select One and press . • Press or to select an image. • Press or to specify the number of copies. • Press to decide whether you want to turn the date stamp on. • To set the DPOF setting for all images, select All and press . • Press or to specify the number of copies. • Press to decide whether you want to turn the date stamp on. • To clear all DPOF settings to initial default, select Reset > Ye s. 3. Press to confirm the settings. Radial Blur Applies a rotating motion effect to give a feel of speed. To apply a Radial Blur effect: 1. In Playback mode, press > > Radial Blur > or . 2. Press or to select a degree of Radial Blur. 3. Press to confirm the change. 4. Press or to select Overwrite or Save as and press button to save the image file. Playback mode 63 English Face Retouch Enhances and brightens the tone of skin and adjusts the eyes size so that the facial appearance looks better. To apply a Face Retouch effect: 1. In Playback mode, press > > Face Retouch > or . 2. Press or to select the retouch item and press or to enter the submenu. 3. Press or to adjust the desired setting and press to confirm. 4. After all settings are complete, press or to select Save and press to save the image file. • The cursor on the picture frame will only appear if there is more than one face in the shot. • Only one face can be retouched each time. • This function is applicable only once. • You cannot use this function on images captured in Panorama mode. To install this program, see the information supplied with the CD. Connecting the camera to a computer You can connect the camera to a PC or notebook to transfer, view, print, or edit files as well as charge the camera. To connect the camera to a computer: 1. Connect the end of the smaller plug of the USB cable to the camera. 2. Turn on the camera. 3. Open the USB/HDMI port cover. 4. Connect the other end of the USB cable to an available USB port on your computer. 5. Select Computer and wait for the connection. 6. A Removable Disk icon appears in My Computer . Click this icon to access the files in your camera. ArcSoft MediaImpression™Easily, creatively, and productively manage your multimedia files. Create your own movies or photo slide shows, and share your photo, video and music files easily through simple e-mail attachments or popular photo printing and video sharing websites. • When connecting the camera to a computer, it is necessary to install a battery into the camera. • When connecting the camera to a computer, please use the original accessory of the USB cable to avoid possible system conflicts and damage to the camera. Working with computer and AV system 65 English Connecting the camera to an AV system You can play files in your camera on a TV using a micro HDMI cable. To connect the camera to a TV using a micro HDMI cable: 1. Open the USB/HDMI port cover. 2. Connect one end of the micro HDMI cable to the camera. 3. Connect the other end of the micro HDMI cable to an HDMI TV. 4. Turn on the TV, and then switch the input source of the TV to “HDMI”. 5. Turn on the camera, and operate the media playback using the camera control buttons. To operate the media playback with the TV remote control: 1. Turn on the camera and set HDMI Control to On. See HDMI Control on page 49. 2. Turn off the camera and connect the camera and TV with a micro HDMI cable. 3. Turn on the TV, and then switch the input source of the TV to “HDMI”. 4. Turn on the camera. 5. Follow the on-screen instructions to operate the camera via the TV. • Before connecting the camera to a TV, set the TV Out setting to match the TV’s video output format. See TV Setting on page 49 for details. • For details on changing the input source of the TV, refer to the TV’s user’s manual. • Some TVs may not recognize the video format (1080p or 1080i). Please check the user manual that came with the TV for more assistance. • Some TVs may not work with the TV remote control even the on-screen instructions are displayed on the camera. If this occurs, set HDMI Control to Off and operate using the camera. • The micro HDMI and AV cables are optional accessories. 66 Working with computer and AV system English Printing images In addition to printing images by connecting the camera to a printer via a computer or bringing the memory card (if available) to a photo-processing center, you can choose to print using PictBridge. Printing with PictBridge You can directly print images by connecting your camera to a PictBridge- compatible printer without using a computer. To print images from a PictBridge-compatible printer: 1. Connect the end of the smaller plug of the USB cable to the camera. 2. Connect the other end of the USB cable to an available USB port on your printer. 3. Turn on the printer. Wait for a while until it finishes starting up and is ready to print. 4. Turn on the camera. 5. Select Printer and wait for the connection. 6. Select one of the following options: • To print one image at a time, select Print One, and press or to select an image. • To print all images at a time, select Print All. • To print all images (shown by thumbnails) at a time, select Print Index. 7. Press . • The above procedure may vary depending on the printer type you are using. • If you connect the camera to your printer while the printer is still starting up, the camera will be automatically turned off. • Failure to follow the above procedure will make the camera show an error message. Troubleshooting and service information 67 English Troubleshooting and service information If your camera cannot operate normally, see the frequently encountered problems and solutions listed below. If the problem persists, contact your nearest service center or technical support. ProblemCauseSolution The camera cannot power up.There is no battery or the battery is not inserted correctly.Insert the battery correctly. The battery has no power. Replace the battery. The battery power is draining quickly.The external temperature is extremely low.-- Many shots are being captured in dark places, requiring a flash.-- The battery or camera is warm.The camera or flash was used continuously over a long period of time.-- The flash does not fire or recharge.The camera flash is turned off.Set the flash to Auto Flash. The light source is sufficient.-- Even though the flash fired, the image is dark.The distance to the subject is greater than the flashs effective range.Get closer to the subject and shoot. The image is too bright or too dark.The exposure is excessive or inadequate.Reset exposure compensation. I cannot format a memory card.The memory card is write- protected.Remove the write protection. There is no power being supplied to the camera.Replace the battery. The camera does not shoot even when pressing the shutter.The battery is running low. Replace the battery. The camera is not in the Capture mode.Switch to the Capture mode. The shutter was not pressed all the way down.Press the shutter all the way down. The internal memory or memory card does not have any free space.Load a new card or delete unwanted files. The flash is recharging. Wait until the flash mode icon, indicated on the screen, stops flashing. The camera does not recognize the memory card.Format the memory card before the initial use or before using with another camera.
