21 Positioning o It is advisable that your appliance is only installed in a location where the ambient temperature of the room, corresponds with the climate classification that is st ated on the rating plate of your appliance. Your appliance may not function correctly if the ambient temperature falls outs ide of the following ranges. Climate classification Appropriate ambient temperature SN +10 to +32 degrees centigrade N +16 to +32 degrees centigrade ST +18 to +38 degrees centigrade T +18 to +43 degrees centigrade o Positioning the appliance requires two people in order to avoid injuries or damage to the appliance. o Your appliance should not be located in direct sunlight or exposed to continuous heat or extremes of temperature (e.g. next to a radiator or boiler). If this is not feasible, then you should install an insulation pl ate between the appliance and the adjacent heat source. o You should check whether there is an electrical socket available, which will be accessible after your appliance is installed. o Place the appliance flatly and firmly on a solid base. The appliance is fitted with adjustable feet on the front side, which can be used to level the appliance. o Anything positioned above the a ppliance must be at least 15 cm away to allow sufficient cooling of the condenser. You must allow a 5 cm gap to the rear and either side of the appliance. o If you are placing another cooling appliance next door to this product, then there must be a gap of at least 2cm between the appliances. This will help to prev ent condensation from forming. o Be sure to leave enough space for the opening of the door, to avoid damage to the appliance or personal injury.
Attaching the door handles 1) You will find the two handles for the fridge freezer at the rear of the appliance, behind the condenser. You should remove this box and take out the two lengths of handle. 2) Inside of the salad drawer you will find a box containing the following components that you will need to fit the door handles. 3) Note that the brackets that go either end of each handle are marked with a T and a U. One marked with a T should go on the top of a handle and one marked with a U should go on the underneath of a handle. 4) Place a bracket on either end of each handle and then using a screwdriver; fix the brackets with the screws provided. Make sure that these screws are fully tightened. IMPORTANT: Make sure that the brackets are at the correct end of the handles. 22
5) There are slots at the top and bottom of each door. Insert the handles into these slots. IMPORTANT: Make sure that you have the handle the right way up; i.e. that the bracket marked with a T is at the top of the door and the bracket marked with a U is at the bottom of the door. 6) Use the allen key supplied to fully tighten the screws at the top and bottom of the handle. Repeat these steps so that both the fridge and freezer handles are connected to the appliance. o If you have reversed the door of the appliance, then you will need to fit the handle to the opposite side of the door. o Use a thin bladed screwdriver to remove the plastic spacers at the top and bottom of the door. o The plastic spacers should be transferred to the diagonally opposite corner of the same d oor, where there will be a cut out to insert each spacer. 23
Reversing the doors IMPORTANT: Make sure you have enough room to lay the appliance on its back, without damaging or breaking the condenser coils on the rear of the fridge freezer. You should also ensure that ther e are no sharp or hard objects on the floor in this area. THE APPLIANCE MUST BE DISCONNECTED FROM THE POWER SUPPLY BEFORE COMMENCING THE DOOR REVERSAL PROCESS. CERTAIN SECTIONS OF THIS PROCESS WILL REQUIRE TWO PEOPLE TO COMPLETE IT. You must disassemble the lowe r door first (freezer) and then the upper door (fridge). Any parts that you remove from the appliance whilst reversing the door, should be retained for later use. 1) Lay the appliance on its back. 2) Remove the plinth beneath the bottom door by gently pulling it away from the fridge freezer cabinet. 3) Using a star-headed screwdriver, unscrew the lower hinge assemblies (left and right) and lift them out of their sockets. 24
4) Move the pin and washer that connect to the right hand hinge, from the right hand hole to the left hand hole. 5) Remove the lower door by gently sliding it downwards, away from the main body of the fridge freezer. 6) Using a star-headed screwdriver, unscrew the middle hinge and lift it out of its socket. 25 pper er 7) Carefully slide the u door from the upper hinge pin (K) and then using a star head screwdriv unscrew the top hinge cover (A) and sensor cover (B). 8) Using a star-headed screwdriver, unscrew the upper hinge and screw it onto the opposite side of the cabinet from its original position. 9) Screw the top hinge cover and sensor cover back to the opposite side of the cabinet from their original positions. IMPORTANT: You should make sure that the position of the upper pin hinge lines up exactly with the hinge hole in the top of the upper door.
10) Reattach the upper door to the hinge pin. IMPORTANT: The door must be supported from the underneath until step 15 has been completed. The upper door MUST NO T be allowed to hang loose whilst steps 10-15 are being followed. We recommend that one person supports the door, whilst the othe r person completes the steps outlined below. 11) Using a small flat-headed screwdriver, prise the covering caps from the hole in the middle of the cabinet. Place them in the holes that have been left by the removal of the middle hinge. 12) Invert the middle hinge and carefully place the hinge pin into the bottom hole of the upper door. 13) Firmly secure the middle hinge assembly to the cabinet using the screws that you removed previously. The holes contain insulation foam which can be easily bored into. 14) Ensure that the upper door is level, and make sure that it can open and shut easily, without fouling against the cabinet. 15) Reconnect the lower door, taking care to ensure that the top pin fits securely into its socket. 16) Reattach the bottom hinges, maki ng sure that lower hinge pin and washers are located on the opposite si de of the cabinet to their original position. Take care to ensure that the lower hinge pin fits into the socket properly. 17) Ensure that all hole co vering caps are replaced. IMPORTANT: Check that bo th the upper and lower doors open and shut correctly, without fouling, after you have completed the door reversal process. IMPORTANT: WHEN YOU HAVE REVERSED THE DOORS OF THE APPLIANCE. AS YOU HAVE PLACED THE APPLIANCE ON ITS BA CK, YOU MUST WAIT FOR 8 HOURS BEFORE SWITCHIN G THE APPLIANCE BACK ON. 26
Troubleshooting IMPORTANT: If your fridge freezer appears not to be operating properly, before contacting the Baumatic Service Department, please refer to the checklist below. My fridge freezer does not appear to be working/there is no power to my appliance. o Check that the plug is fully in serted into the power socket. o Check that there is power to yo ur mains supply (e.g. that there hasn’t been a power cut or that the fuse hasn’t blown). o Check that the thermostat insi de the appliance has not been turned to the COOL ING OFF position. o Check that your mains supply voltage, corresponds to the voltage stated on the rating plate of your appliance. My fridge freezer appears to be performing poorly o Check that the appliance isn’t ov erloaded and that food hasn’t been packed too tightly into it. o The thermostat setting is t oo low; you should turn the thermostat up higher. o Ensure that the door is closing properly and that the door has not been left open for a prolonged period in error. o Ensure that there is adequate ventilation for your appliance. My fridge freezer is noisy o The refrigerant gas that circulates the pipework of the appliance may make a slight noise, even if the compressor is not running. o If the noise worsens or the app liance gets louder than normal; check that it is leveled off correc tly, that nothing is touching the rear of the fridge freezer and that nothing placed inside the appliance is rattling. Ice has formed on the inner back wall of the fridge, or there is water in the base of the fridge. o Check that food has not been pu shed too far back inside the appliance, so that it is in contact with the inner back wall. 27
