    							Browsing the Internet
    Your phone has two options for Internet access . Use the Browser or Google 
    Chrome to view web pages and search for information .
    From the home screen, tap 
     .
    Opening a Web Page
    •   Tap the address bar, enter the website you want to browse, and tap Go .
    •    Tap 
     beside the address bar or press  > Bookmarks . Tap a bookmark  
    to open it  .
    •    Press 
     > Bookmarks . Choose an item from the History tab or Saved  
    Pages tab .
    Browsing Options
    While viewing most web pages, you can do the following .
    •   Scroll: Swipe the screen in any direction .
    •    Zoom out: Tap the screen or pinch two fingers together  .
    •   Zoom  in: Tap the screen or spread two fingers apart  .
    •    Go back: Tap 
     to return to the page you viewed previously  .
    •    Go forward: Tap 
     .
    •    Refresh the page: Tap 
     .
    •    Find text on the page: Press 
     > Find on page and type the terms you want to 
    search for  . •   
    Send the page URL to friends: Press 
     > Share page and select how you want 
    to send the URL .
    •    Follow a link: Tap a link on the web page to open it  .
    •    Save the page for offline reading: Press 
     > Save for offline reading .  
    To read saved pages, press  > Bookmarks > Saved Pages .
    Opening Another Browser Window
    You can have multiple windows open in the browser  . While in the browser, tap  
    to open a new window  . To view your open windows, tap  . Tap  on a window to 
    close it  .
    Using Bookmarks
    To bookmark a web page, open it and tap  or , and then tap Save to 
    bookmarks . Give the bookmark a name and tap OK .
    Editing a Bookmark
      1  From the home screen, tap  . 
     2  Press 
     > Bookmarks .
      3     Tap and hold the bookmark you want to edit until the shortcut menu  
    pops up  .
     4  Tap  Edit bookmark .
      5    Edit the name (Label) or location (Address), and then tap OK to save it  .
    Deleting a Bookmark
     1  From the home screen, tap  .
     2  Press 
     > Bookmarks .

    							 3    Tap and hold the bookmark you want to delete until the shortcut menu  
    pops up  .
     4  Tap  Delete bookmark > OK .
    Changing Browser Settings
    Press  > Settings from a browser window to change browser settings .
    Using Google Chrome
    Use Google Chrome to browse the Internet  . Chrome on your Avail™ 2 can sync 
    bookmarks, browsing history, and opened tabs from your Google account  .
      1  From the home screen, tap 
     > Chrome .
      2  Read the terms of service and touch Accept and Continue .
      3    You can choose to sign in to Chrome to sync it with your open tabs, bookmarks, 
    and omnibox data from your computer  . If you choose No thanks, you can sign 
    in later via the Settings menu .
      4    To enter a URL, touch the web address bar, enter an address and touch Go .
      5    Scroll to navigate and touch links to open them . Use a pinching gesture to zoom 
    out  . Spread your fingers apart to zoom in . Press 
     to access additional 
    settings .
      6    To open a new browser tab, touch 
     > New tab .
    Syncing Chrome
    From the home screen, tap  > Chrome >  > Settings > Sign In To Chrome > 
    Sign in .
    Bluetooth
    Bluetooth is a short-range wireless communication technology  . Phones or other 
    devices with Bluetooth capabilities can exchange information wirelessly within 
    a distance of about 32 feet (10 meters) . The Bluetooth devices must be paired 
    before the communication is performed .
    Using Bluetooth 
      1    Before you begin, place the Bluetooth device in pairing mode . From the home 
    screen, press  > System settings and slide the Bluetooth switch to the On  
    position to turn on Bluetooth . When Bluetooth is on, the  icon will appear in 
    the status bar  . 
      2   Tap  Bluetooth . Your phone will automatically search for Bluetooth devices and 
    will show all visible devices in range .
      3     Tap the device you want to pair with .
      4    If necessary, confirm that the Bluetooth passkeys are the same between the 
    two devices and tap Pair . Alternately, enter a Bluetooth passkey and tap Pair .
    Pairing is successfully completed when the other device accepts the 
    connection or the same passkey is entered .
    Notes: 
    •    The Bluetooth passkey may be fixed for certain devices, such as headsets or 
    hands-free car kits . You can try entering 0000 or 1234 (the most common 
    passkeys), or refer to the documents for that device .
    •    To allow compatible Bluetooth devices to find your phone for pairing,  
    tap Z992 on the Bluetooth settings screen . Your device will be visible for  
    2 minutes .

    Taking Pictures with Your Camera
    Your phone has a 2-megapixel camera . 
     1  From the home screen, tap 
     .
      2    Zoom in or out by dragging the slider bar  . To change color effects, tap 
     and 
    select an option . 
      3   Tap 
     or press either Volume key to take a picture . To view it, tap the picture 
    thumbnail in the corner of the screen . 
    Adjusting Camera Settings
    Before taking a photo, you can tap   to open the following camera settings .
    Timing  
    Set the lapse time for taking a photo  .
    Image   Set exposure, contrast, saturation, or sharpness of 
    the photo
     . 
    White 
    balance   Select how the camera adjusts colors in different 
    kinds of light to achieve the most natural looking 
    colors for your shots, or allow the camera to adjust 
    the white balance automatically
     .
    Storage   Choose the storage location for photos .
    ISO Set the ISO as auto, ISO-100, ISO-200, or ISO-400  .

    Geo-taggingChoose to store location information with each 
    photo you take .
    Tones   Turn shutter tones on or off  .
    Composition 
    line   Set the composition line to help you to aim the 
    camera at the subject
     .
    Picture 
    size   Choose the size of the photo
     .
    Picture 
    quality Adjust picture quality as super fine, fine, or normal .
    Anti-band Set anti-band as auto, 50 Hz, or 60 Hz .
    Other Restore default camera settings .
     
    Sharing a Picture
      1    After taking a picture, tap the thumbnail in the corner of the screen and then 
    tap  .
      2     Scroll through options to send via text messaging or email, Picasa
    ™,  
    and more .

    							Shooting Video with Your Camcorder
     1    From the home screen, tap
      > Camcorder . 
      2     Zoom in or out by dragging the slider bar  . Tap 
     to begin recording and  
    to stop  . Tap the video thumbnail in the corner of the screen to view the video 
    you’ve just taken .
    Tip: You can switch between camcorder and camera by tapping 
     .
    Adjusting Your Video Settings
    Before recording a video, you can tap   to open the following camcorder settings .
    Video 
    quality Choose the video quality as VGA or MMS Video
     .
    Storage   Choose the storage location for videos .
    Time 
    lapse   Set the lapse time for recording video
     .
    White 
    balance   Select how the camcorder adjusts colors in different 
    kinds of light to achieve the most natural looking colors 
    for your videos, or allow the camcorder to adjust the 
    white balance automatically
     .
    Geo-tagging Choose to store location information with each video 
    you take .
    Other   Restore default camcorder settings .

    Sharing a Video
     1    After recording a video, tap the  
    thumbnail in the corner of the screen  
    and then tap 
     .
      2    Scroll through options to send via text  
    messaging or Gmail, Picasa, and more .
    Playing Your Videos
    From the home screen, tap  > Video  
    Player . This will open your video library and  
    show the video files saved in your memory  
    card . Tap a video file to start playing . 
     
    Number Function
    1 Video name .
    2 Drag the slider to adjust screen brightness .
    3 Drag the slider to jump to any part of the video  .
    4 Tap to share or delete the video  .
    5 Pause or resume playback .
    6 Tap to lock the screen .
    7 Drag the slider to adjust the volume .

    							Opening Your Gallery
    Gallery helps you view pictures and play  
    videos . You can also do some basic editing  
    of your pictures, set them as wallpaper or  
    contact icons, or share with friends .
     1    From the home screen, tap 
     > Gallery .
      2  Tap an album .
      3  Tap a photo or video to view it  .
     
    Number Function
    1 Tap to return to the album or thumbnails of all the pictures and 
    videos in the album, which are displayed in a grid .
    2 Swipe horizontally to see more; double tap a picture to view it in 
    full screen .
    3 Delete, edit, share, or set the picture as contact icon, wallpaper, 
    or lock screen wallpaper
     .
    4 Browse the album contents in a slideshow  .

    Adding Music to Your Phone
    You can add music to your phone’s internal storage or to a removable microSD 
    card (see Phone Setup – Inserting a microSD Card) .
    Note: Steps may vary depending on your operating system .
     1    Connect your phone to your computer with a USB cable .
      2   Tap  Media device (MTP) .
      3    On your PC, choose to view files through Windows Explorer  . If you have a Mac, 
    visit http://www  .android . com/filetransfer to download the necessary software .
      4    Choose whether you want to add files to your phone’s internal storage or to the 
    microSD card, and then drag and drop the files you want to transfer  .
      5    When you’re finished transferring files, open the notifications panel and tap 
    Connected as a media device > Charge only . You may now safely disconnect 
    your phone from the computer  .

    							Playing Your Music
    You can play the audio files stored in your  
    phone’s microSD card in Music .
     1    From the home screen, tap 
     > Music  
    to access the music player  .
      2   Select  Albums/Artists/Songs/Playlists/ 
    Folders/GenreList/Favorite to find the  
    songs you want to play  .
      3    Tap an item from the list to start playing .
      4    Adjust the volume with the  
    Volume keys .
    Number Function
    1 Song and artist information .
    2 Tap to toggle repeat mode: repeat all songs, repeat current 
    song, or repeat off
     .
    3 Drag the slider to jump to any part of the song .
    4 Tap to open the current playlist  .
    5 Skip songs or pause and resume playback . 
    6 Add to Favorite playlist  .

    8 Tap to play the current playlist in shuffle mode, where tracks are 
    played in random order

    Playlists help you organize your music files .
     1 Tap 
     next to the song in the music library  .
     2  Tap  Add to playlist .
     3  Tap  New  .
      4  Type the playlist name and tap Save  . 
    Managing Playlists
     1 Tap  the  Playlists tab in the music library to see your playlists .
     2  Tap 
     next to a playlist  . 
     3  Tap  Rename Playlist or Delete Playlist .
    Note: These options may not be available for certain automatically created 
    playlists, such as Recently added .
    Adding a Song to a Playlist
     1  Tap  next to the song in the music library  .
     2  Tap  Add to playlist .
      3  Tap a playlist  .
    Setting a Song as Ringtone
     1 Tap  next to the song in the music library  .
     2  Tap  Use as phone ringtone .

    							 Making Memorable Memos
    Sound Recorder enables you to record your voice memos . 
     1  From the home screen, tap 
     > Sound Recorder .

     to start recording .

    Tip: You can find your recordings by tapping My records .
    Play a Memo You Just Recorded
    Tap  .
    Play Any Saved Memo 
      1  From the home screen, tap  > Sound Recorder .

      3  Tap the title of a memo to play it  .
    Note: You can also tap 
     next to the memo to share, rename, delete, tag, view file 
    details, or set as a ringtone .

     1  From the home screen, tap  > Alarm .
      2  Tap the default alarm to configure it or tap 
     to create a new alarm .
      3  Set up the alarm options, such as time, repeat, and alarm sound .
     4  Tap  Save  to save and exit  .
     5  Tap 
     next to an alarm to turn on the alarm . 
    Calculator
    From the home screen, tap  > Calculator .
    Tip: Ta p  
    or  , or swipe left or right to switch between different panels . You 
    can also turn the phone to landscape to see all of the calculator buttons .
    Facebook
      1  From the home screen, tap  > Facebook .
      2  Log in and choose sync options .
    Tip: You can change your Facebook sync settings by tapping 
     > Settings > 
    Sync Contacts .
    •    Tap 
     to access your profile, news feed, messages, and more .
    •  Press 
     > Settings to change your account settings .
    •    Tap Status, Photo, or Check In to update your status, upload a photo, or check in 
    at a location .

    							File Manager
    From the home screen, tap  > File Manager .
    •    Tap a folder to view its contents.
    •    Tap and hold a folder or file for options such as Delete, Share, Copy ,  
    and Move  .
    Kingsoft Office
    Create, view, and edit Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, spreadsheets, 
    and other types of files . From the home screen, tap  > Kingsoft Office .
    Tip: Tap 
     and scroll to the right to view options .
    NotePad
    From the home screen, tap  > NotePad to save and view your text notes .
     1  Tap 
     to create a new note . 
      2  Enter your text and tap 
     to save it  . 
      3   Tap a note to view it  . You can also edit, delete, share, or export it  .
    Task Manager
    From the home screen, tap  > Task Manager to view or stop applications .
    •    Tap a task in the Tasks tab to force stop or disable the app, uninstall the app, 
    clear data and cache, or move the app between the internal storage and the 
    memory card .
    •    Tap the Apps tab to manage all the apps on your phone .
    •    Tap the Resources tab to view the real-time system resources information .
    Tip: If your phone is running slow, close applications you are not using by pressing 
    and holding 
      and swiping left or right on applications you wish to close .

    Note: You can set up to 20 laps with the stopwatch .
    Twitter
      1    From the home screen, tap  > Twitter and sign up for or sign in to your

    Voice Dialer
    From the home screen, tap  > Voice Dialer and speak a command .

    							Google Applications
    Signing in to your Google account lets you synchronize Gmail, Calendar, and 
    Contacts between your phone and the web . If you don’t have an account, you  
    can easily create one .
      1    Tap a Google application that needs a Google account, such as Gmail  
    or Google Talk .
      2    If you’ve got a Google account, tap Existing . Enter your user name  
    and password and then tap 
     . (Or tap New  if you don’t have a  
    Google account  .)
      3  Read the instructions and tap OK .
      4  Set the backup and restore option and tap 
     .
    Google Search and Google Now
    Find whatever you’re looking for with Google Search . Google Now tailors your 
    search options over time, learning your preferences and making more accurate 
    predictions for your needs . Google Now will also keep track of what you’re doing 
    and appear when you need it, like showing the next appointment on your calendar 
    and what the traffic is like to get to it  .
    Performing a Search
    From the home screen, tap  > Google . You can type in search terms, or say 
    “Google” to begin a voice search . 
    You will see results for your search . To search images, places, and more, tap an 
    option on the bar at the bottom of the screen . For additional web results, simply 
    scroll down the screen .

    Gmail
    Gmail is a web-based email service that’s configured when you sign in to your 
    Google account . Depending on your synchronization settings, the Gmail on your 
    phone can be automatically synchronized with your Gmail account on the web  .
    Creating and Sending an Email Through Gmail
     1  From the home screen, tap  > Gmail .
     2  Tap  .
      3    Enter an email address in the To  field . If you’re sending the email to several 
    people, separate the email addresses with commas . You can add as many 
    recipients as you want  .
      4    Enter the email subject, and then write your email . To add an attachment, press 
     > Attach picture or Attach video .
     5  Tap 
     to send your email .
    Adding Another Account
     1  From your Gmail inbox, press  > Settings > Add account .
      2    Choose to add an existing account or create a new one and follow on-screen 
    instructions to finish account setup  .
    Accessing Account Settings
     1  From your Gmail inbox, press  > Settings .
      2    Tap an account name, or tap General settings to change settings for  
    all accounts .

    							Google Play
    Google Play gives you access to thousands of free and paid apps, games, books 
    and magazines, music, and movies .
    From the home screen, tap

    Navigating Google Play
    From Play Store, you will have multiple ways to search for apps, games and more .
     
    1    Tap a category to browse popular apps, games, movies, books, and music 
    organized by popularity or category  .
      2   Tap 
     to search the Play Store for a specific item, such as a game or app  .
      3    To install, tap the app and follow instructions . Once installed, you will  
    see a notification in the Notifications panel . Open the app from this notification 
    or by locating the app in the App tray 
     .
    Note: A Google Wallet
    ™ payment method is required to purchase apps .
    Adding a PIN
    Help prevent unauthorized app purchases by adding a PIN .
      1  While in Google Play, press 
     > Settings > Set or change PIN.
      2  Enter a PIN and tap 
    OK .
      3  Enter your PIN again to confirm it and tap 
    OK .
     4  Tap 
    Use PIN for purchases .
    Using Google Calendar
    From the home screen, tap  > Calendar to use Google Calendar, Google’s time 
    management application . You can use the calendar to schedule appointments, 
    including meetings and other events . Your appointments will be displayed on the 
    screen as they are scheduled . You can also synchronize appointments to your 
    Google account, which enables you to manage your schedule online on your PC .

    Accessing Calendar Settings
     1  While in the calendar, press  > Settings .
      2    Tap an account name, or tap General settings to change settings for all 
    accounts .
    Using Google Talk
    Google Talk is Google’s instant messaging program, which enables you to 
    communicate with other people who also use it  .
    Opening Google Talk
    From the home screen, tap  > Talk .
    Adding a New Friend
    You can only add people who have a Google account  . 
      1  Tap the account you wish to use .
     2  Tap 
     . 
      3  Enter your friend’s address and tap Done .
    Note: If other people try to add you as a friend, you will receive a notification in the 
    status bar and the invitation appears in your friends list  . You can tap the invitation 
    to Accept, Decline, or Block .
    Changing Your Online Status
      1  Tap your own entry at the top of your friends list  .
      2  Tap your current status to change it  .
