Button: • Press this button to increase the value of the function selected or move right/up to the previous function. • This is also a hotkey for Brightness adjustment. 5. Power button/power indicator • Press this button to turn the monitor on/off • The color definition of the power indicator is as the below table. 1. AC-IN port. This port connects the power connector from the bundled power cord. 2. Audio-in port (For those models with speakers). This port connects PC audio source by the bundled audio cable. 3. USB 2.0 port. This port is for the built-in webcam connection. 4. DVI port (For some models). This 24-pin port is for PC (Personal Computer) DVI-D digital signal connection. 5. VGA port. 2-1ASUS VK193 Series LCD Monitor 2.1 Assembling the monitor base To assemble the monitor base: 1. Have the front of the monitor face down on a table. 2. Connect the base with the arm according to the below drawing. A click shows that the base has been connected successfully. We recommend that you cover the table surface with soft cloth to prevent \ damage to the monitor. 2.2 Adjusting the monitor • For optimal viewing, we recommend that you look at the full face of the monitor, then adjust the monitor to the angle that is most comfortable for you. • Hold the stand to prevent the monitor from falling when you change its angle. • You can adjust the monitor’s angle from -5˚ to 20˚. It is normal that the monitor slightly shakes while you adjust the the v\ iewing angle. -5˚~20˚
2-2Chapter 2: Setup 2.3 Detaching the arm/base (for VESA wall mount) The detachable arm/base of the VK193 Series LCD monitor is specially designed for VESA wall mount. To detach the arm/base: 1. Have the front of the monitor face down on a table. 2. Remove the rubbers in the four screw holes (Figure 1). 3. Use a screwdriver to remove the two arm screws, and then slide out the arm/base to detach it from the monitor (Figure 2). Connect the cables as the following instructions: • To connect the power cord: connect one end of the power cord securely to the monitor’s AC input port, and the other end to a power outlet. • To connect the USB cable: connect one end of the USB cable (upstream) to the monitor's USB port, and the other end to the computer's USB 2.0 port\ . • To connect the VGA/DVI cable: a. Plug the VGA/DVI connector to the LCD monitor’s VGA/DVI port. b. Connect the other end of the VGA/ DVI cable to your computer’s VGA/ DVI port. c. Tighten the two screws to secure the VGA/DVI connector. • To connect the audio cable (For those models with speakers): connect one end of the audio cable to the monitor’s Audio-in port, and the other end to the computer's audio-out port. 2.5 Turning on the monitor Gently press the power button . See page 1-2 for the location of the power button. The power indicator lights up in blue to show that the monitor is ON. When both the VGA and the DVI cables are connected, you can choose either VGA mode or DVI mode from the Input Select item of the OSD functions (for \ some models). 2. 2-4Chapter 2: Setup 2.7 LifeFrame 2 software ASUS VK193 provides the easy-to-use LifeFrame 2 software that can work with the webcam, allowing users to create their own photos or video clips. • LifeFrame 2 only supports Microsoft® Windows® Vista / XP Service Pack 2 operating systems. • The LifeFrame 2 software is bundled in the support CD. Installation instructions 1. Close all other applications. 2. Insert the support CD into the optical drive and run the LifeFrame 2 program. 3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation 2.6 Built-in webcam support The built-in webcam allows you to take pictures, have a video conference\ , or record video clips. While chatting with friends via Internet-based commu\ nication tools, you can directly show your vivid image with this device. System requirements • A personal computer with Pentium® III 800 MHz or higher processor • Microsoft® Windows® Vista / XP Service Pack 2 operating systems • Minimum 200 MB free hard disk space to run the program • 128 MB of RAM or above • A display card supporting 16-bit high color mode • Make sure that the bundled USB cable is connected to both the LCD monitor and your PC. Otherwise, the webcam will not be activated. • Make sure that you have installed the Windows® Vista / XP Service Pack 2 or later versions before using the device. Using the device The device transmits images to your PC through the USB 2.0 port. Therefore, make sure that the bundled USB cable is connected to both the LCD monitor and your PC before you use the device.Webcam

Highlight and activate the desired function by pressing the MENU button. If the function selected has a sub- menu, press and again to navigate through the sub-menu functions. Highlight and activate the desired sub-menu function by pressing the MENU button. 3. Press and to change the settings of the selected function. 4. To exit the OSD menu, press the button. Repeat step 2 and step 3 to adjust any other function. 1. Press the MENU button to activate the OSD menu. 3.1.2 OSD Function Introduction 1. Spendid This function contains five sub-functions you can select for your preference. Each mode has the Reset selection, allowing you to maintain your setting or return to the preset mode. • Standard Mode: best choice for document editing with SPLENDID™ Video Intelligence Technology. • Theater Mode: best choice for movie with SPLENDID™ Video Intelligence Technology. • Game Mode: best choice for game playing with SPLENDID™ Video Intelligence Technology. • Night View Mode: best choice for dark-scene game or movie with SPLENDID™ Video Intelligence Technology. • Scenery Mode: best choice for scenery photo display with SPLENDID™ Video Intelligence Technology. • In the Standard Mode, the ASCR, Saturation, Sharpness and Skin Tone functions are not user-configurable. • In the other modes, the sRGB function is not user-configurable. Color Select the image color you like from this function. • Color Temp: contains five color modes including Cool, Normal, Warm, sRGB, and User mode. • Skin Tone: contains three color modes including Reddish, Natural, and Yellowish. In the User mode, colors of R (Red), G (Green), and B (Bluee) are \ user-configurable; the adjusting range is from 0-100. 2. Image You can adjust Brightness, Contrast, ASCR, Sharpness, Saturation, Position (VGA only), and Focus (VGA only) from this main function. • Brightness: the adjusting range is from 0 to 100. is a hotkey to activate this function. • Contrast: the adjusting range is from 0 to 100. is a hotkey to activate this function (For those models without speakers). • ASCR: turns on/off the ASCR(ASUS Smart Contrast Ratio) function. • Sharpness: the adjusting range is from 0 to 100. • Saturation: the adjusting range is from 0 to 100. • Position: adjusts the horizontal position (H-Position) and the vertical position (V-Position) of the image. The adjusting range is from 0 to 100. • Focus: reduces Horizonal-line noise and Vertical-line noise of the image by adjusting (Phase) and (Clock) separately. The adjusting range is from 0 to 100. • Phase adjusts the phase of the pixel clock signal. With a wrong phase adjustment, the screen shows horizontal disturbances. • Clock (pixel frequency) controls the number of pixels scanned by one horizontal sweep. If the frequency is not correct, the screen shows vertical stripes and the image is not proportional. Color TempSkin Tone

System Setup Allow you to adjust the system. • Volume: the adjusting range is from 0 to 100. is a hotkey to activate this function (For those models with speakers.). • Aspect Control: adjusts the aspect ratio to “Full” or “4:3”. • OSD Setup: *Adjusts the horizontal position (H-Position) / the vertical position (V-Position) of the OSD from 0 to 100. *Adjusts the OSD timeout from 10 to 120. *Enables or disables the DDC / CI function. • Language: there are ten languages for your selection, including English, German, Italian, French, Dutch, Spanish, Russian, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, and Japanese. • Information: shows the monitor information. • All Reset: “Yes” allows you to restore the default setting.
