Seethe"AdviceandTips"sectionbefore washing. 2 Turnonthemainpowerswitch. 3 Openthewasherdoorandload thewashing Ifthedoorisclosed,presstheDoor openingbutton(keysymbol).Theredfield lightsupandthedoorwillopenafterafew seconds.Loadthelaundry.Thelaundry programchartshowshowmuchlaundrycan bewashedwitheachprogram. 4 Adddetergentandfabric softener,asrequired Thedetergentpackagingwillgivea recommendationabouthowmuchdetergent youshoulduse.Themachineholds6kgof laundry.Ifyouonlyhaveasmallamountof washinginthemachine,youcanreducethe amountofdetergentyouuse. Liquiddetergent Whenusingliquiddetergent,followthe detergentmanufacturer’srecommendations. Powderdetergent Whenusingliquiddetergent,followthe detergentmanufacturer’srecommendations. Werecommendalwaysusingawashballwith verythickliquiddetergent. Washballornet Ifyouuseawashballornet,placeitdirectly inthedrumandselectaprogramwithoutpre- wash. Note! Detergentoverdosingdoesnotgivebetter washingresults;itmerelycausesagreater impactontheenvironment;canalsohinder thewashperformance. Colour Clotheswornnexttotheskinshouldbe washedat60°C.Lightlysoiledlaundrycan bewashedat40°C.Mostdetergents nowadayscleanevenat40°C. Quick Lightlysoiledlaundrythatonlyneeds fresheningupcanbewashedforashorttime at40°C. Synthetic Thisprogramisgoodforshirtsandblouses madeofsyntheticandblendedmaterial. 6 Selectoptionsandsettings Bychangingoptionsandsettingsyou canadjustthewashingprogramtosuit yourownspecificrequirements. Themachinewillrememberwhichsettings andoptionsyouchoseforeachprogramand willusethemthenexttimeyouselectthat program.Youcanofcoursechangethe optionsifyouwant. Temperature Selecttemperaturebypressingthe Temperaturebuttonuntiltheredfieldlights upbesidethedesiredtemperature. Youcanselecttemperaturesbetween30°C and95°CorCold.IfyouselectCold,the washingtemperaturewillbethesameasthat ofthewatercomingintothemachine. ForWool/Handitisnotpossibletoselecta temperaturehigherthan40°C.Seethetable. Spinspeed/Nospin SelectthespinspeedbypressingtheSpin buttonuntiltheredfieldnexttothespinspeed youwantlightsup. Youcanselectspeedsbetween800and 1200rpm,Nospin Spinat800rpmalwayssignifiesshortspin. Aspinbetween400and800rpmisalwaysa shortspin. Forcertainprograms,itisnotpossibleto selectaspeedinexcessof800rpm(see table). Nospinmeansthattheprogramdoesnot includeaspincycleandendsbydraining. 7 Closethedoorandpressthe Start/Stopbutton Toaddorremovewashingafterthe programstarts Ifyouwanttoaddorremoveitemsafterthe programhasstarted,youcanstopthe programbypressingandholdingtheDoor openingbutton(keysymbol)forthree seconds.Theredfieldwillflash.Whenyou restartthemachine,addanyextradetergent neededandclosethedoor.Themachine continuesautomaticallyfromthepointwhere theprogramwasinterrupted. 8 Oncetheprogramhasfinished[ Thedooropensautomaticallyoncethe programhasfinished.Ifyouwantto deactivate"automaticdooropening",seethe Childsafetychapter. •Removethelaundry. •Turnoffthemainpowerswitch,turn offthemainpowerswitch...andyou willsaveenergy. Ifyouhavesmallchildrenorpetsathome, closethewasherdooronceyouhave removedthelaundry. 14 Washing
Checkingthetrapanddrainage pump Thewashingmachinehasatrap,where coins,hairpinsandthelikecangetcaught. Tocleanthefilteranddrainagepump: 1.Makesurethemachineisemptyofwater andthatitisswitchedoffatthemains. 2.Openthehatchforthedrainagepumpas shownintheillustration. 3.Drainoutthewater,intoabowl,for example,byunhookingthedrainagehose fromthepininsidethehatch. 4.Unscrewthecoveranti-clockwiseand remove. 5.Removeanyforeignobjectsfromthetrap andpumpassembly.Checktoseethatthe pumpblades,rightattheback,willrotate. 6.Screwonthecover,replacethedrainage hoseonthehatchpinandclosethehatch. Cleaningthedetergent compartment Pullthedetergentcompartmentoutasfaras itwillgo. Thenpullitupandoutasshowninthe illustration. Rinsethecompartmentandscrubitclean. Replacethecompartment. Note! Donotrunthedetergentcompartment throughadishwasher! Cleaningtheoutsideofthemachine Cleantheoutsideofthemachineandthe programpanelwithamildcleaner.Donotuse anysolvents,asthesecandamagethe machine. Cleaningtheinsideofthemachine toavoidunpleasantsmells Moderndetergentsoftenallowclothestobe washedatlowtemperatures.Thismeansthat smalldepositscanbuildupinthemachine. These,inturn,mayleadtounpleasantsmells developing;especiallyifconstantlyusingcold wash. Toavoidthis,werecommendrunninga95 °Cwashprogramonceamonth.Whenyou dothis,useasmallquantityofdetergent.It isnotnecessarytoputanywashinginthe machine. Rinseholesundertheagitator Ifyouthinkthatanobject,suchasanailora paperclip,mayhavefallenthroughthewash drum,youshouldcheckthecontainerunder theagitator.Objectsofthiskindcanrustand causespotsonclothing.Nailsandothersharp objectscanmakeholesinfabric. Doasfollows: 1.Useascrewdriverorsimilartool. 2.Insertthescrewdriverintothecentralhole ontheagitatorandturnthescrewdriver handlegentlytotheleft. 3.Withyourotherhand,holdtheagitatorand pullittowardsyouasshowninthe illustration. 4.Lifttheagitator. 5.Removeanyobjects. 6.Placetheagitatorinthemountingholewith theF-marktowardsyou.Ensurethatallthe agitatorfastenersareintheirholesinthe drum.Pushitawayfromyouuntilit catches. Ifyouhavehardwater Ifyouliveinanareawithhardwater (limescale),thewasherdrummaydevelopa greyish-whitecoating.Toremovethis,empty asachetofcitricacid,approx.20gram,into thewasherdrumandruntheNormalprogram at95°C.Repeatifnecessary. 16 Careandcleaning 1 2
Thewasherdoorwillnotopen 1.Checkthatthemainpowerswitchison. 2.Hasthepowersupplybeencutoff?Check thehousefuses(circuitbreakers).The washerdoorcannotbeopenedifthepower supplyhasbeencutoff. Ifnothingelseworks,thewasherdoor canbeopenedasfollows: •Thismustonlybedoneinanemergency ifthemachine'sglassdoordoesnot openautomaticallywhentheprogram hasfinished. •Firstcheckthatthereisnowaterleftin themachine.Ifthereisanywaterleft andyouareunabletoruntheDrain program,emptythemachineby detachingthedrainagehose.Thisis describedundertheheading“Checking theTrapandDrainagepump”,in chapter11,“Careandcleaning”. •Makesurethatthemainspowerswitch isoffandthattheplughasbeen removedfromthewallsocket. •Openthehatchtothedrainagepump, bottomleftasshownintheillustration. •Unfastenthescrewsholdingthered plastichandleinplace. •Pullthehandleandthedooropens. •Insertthehandlebackintoitsslotand screwittight.Closethehatchtothe drainagepump. Ifthemachine'sglassdoordoesnotopenthe nexttimeawashingprogramhasfinished, calltheservicedivision. Errormessages Ifanerroroccurswhileaprogramisrunning, theredfieldsaroundthebuttonsflashin slightlydifferentways.Aftertakingthe measuresdescribedbelow,turnoffthe machinetoleaveerrormessagemode. Theerrormessagesthatmaybeshownare: Thedoorisnotclosed IfL1isflashing,youtriedtostartaprogram withthewasherdooropen.Closethedoor andtheprogramwillstart. Overflowfault IfalltheredfieldsaroundtheStart/Stopand Dooropening(keysymbol)buttonsare flashing,thereistoomuchwaterinthe machine. 1.Shutoffthewatertap. 2.Calltheservicedivision. Wateroutletfault(GreyHose) IfL3isflashing,thereisaproblemwith drainage.Check: •thatnoobjectsarestuckinthedrainage hoseoutlet. •thatthedrainagepumpisnotblockedby foreignobjects.Cleanthepump(seethe “Careandcleaning”chapter). •thattherearenokinksinthedrainage hose. Beforethemachineisused,thethree transportprotectiondevicesshouldbe removedasshownbelow. Eachtransportprotectiondeviceconsistsof ascrew,awasherandarubberspacer.After theprotectiondevicehasbeenremoved,the rubberspaceractsasaplugfortheholesfor thedeviceandalsoasadamper. •Firstremovethescrewsandremovethe washers. •Thenremovetherubberspacers. •Finally,therubberspacersshouldbe turnedoverandreplacedinthetransport protectiondeviceholes. Important! Inordertopreventthemachinefrombeing damagedwhenitistransported,usethe transportprotectiondevice,whichlocksthe entireinnercompartmentinplace.Ifthe transportprotectiondeviceismissing,you canorderonefromyourretailer.
