     Battery Replacement Note:
     Insert the new battery under the battery holder clip, making sure the 
    side of the battery with the positive symbol faces up and touches the clip.
    Warning:  Installing the battery incorrectly may cause an explosion. Be sure the battery’s 
    positive symbol faces up in the holder. Use only the same type of battery or an equivalent 
    recommended by the manufacturer of the original.
    Important:  Batteries contain chemicals, some of which may be harmful to the 
    environment. Please dispose of used batteries according to your local environmental laws

    Tools
    The only tool required for this procedure is a Phillips screwdriver.
    Preliminary Steps
    Before you begin, open the computer and lay it on its side with the access side facing up.

    Procedure
    1. Remove the two screws that mount the PCI card guide to the logic board.
    2. Slide the card guide up to release the two latches from the PCI divider, and remove 
    the card guide from the enclosure.

     Speaker/Fan Assembly

    Tools
    The only tools required for this procedure are a Phillips screwdriver and needlenose pliers.
    Preliminary Steps
    Before you begin, open the computer, lay it on its side with the access side facing up, and 
    remove the PCI card guide.

     Speaker/Fan Assembly
    Procedure
    1. Disconnect the speaker and fan cables from the logic board.
    2. Lift the speaker/fan assembly straight up and remove it from the enclosure.
    3. If you are replacing the speaker, remove the two screws and remove the speaker from 
    the speaker/fan bracket.

     Speaker/Fan Assembly 4. If you are replacing the fan, use needlenose pliers to pull the fan off the four grommet 
    fasteners. Then remove the fan from the bracket.
    Replacement Note:  When reinstalling the speaker/fan bracket in the enclosure, make 
    sure the large tab on the side of bracket engages with the channel in the PCI divider.

     Heatsink Cover
    Heatsink Cover
    Warning:  The processor, heatsink, and logic board are a unit. Never separate the three, or 
    you will damage the modules and void the warranty. The only parts you may remove from 
    the unit are the heatsink cover and processor inlet frame.
    Tools
    This procedure requires the following tools:
    • Two flat-blade screwdrivers
    • Jeweler’s flat-blade scewdriver
    In addition, you may need the following tools for removing the locking rivet:
    • Mat knife or Xacto knife
    • Cup hook
    • Small wooden stick

     Heatsink Cover
    Procedure
    1. Using a jeweler’s  flat-blade screwdriver, pry up and remove the locking rivet that 
    secures the processor heatsink cover to the PCI divider.
    Note:  If the rivet does not pry up easily, continue with step 2. Otherwise, skip to step 4.
    Replacement Note:  You do not need to replace the rivet after you have replaced the 
    heatsink cover.

     Heatsink Cover 2. Using a mat knife or Xacto knife, pry up and remove the plug at the center of the 
    locking rivet. 
    3. Screw a cup hook into the center of the remaining rivet and holding onto the hook,  rock the rivet back and forth until you work it out of the heatsink cover.  Note: You  may 
    fi nd it useful to insert a wooden stick into the hook to help pull out the rivet.

     Heatsink Cover Note:
     The heatsink cover is secured to the computer by three latches below the left side of 
    the cover. The following two steps release the cover from these latches.
    4. Holding a  flat-blade screwdriver in each hand, insert the screwdrivers under the 
    heatsink cover at the bottom left and right corners (illustrated below) and lift up slightly. 
    Note:  As you lift, you may need to twist the screwdriver at the right corner.\
    5. Repeat this procedure for the heatsink cover’s top left and right corners.
