www.aleratec.com7 Using the USB Duplication Suite Software Destination Tab 1. Drive List: The drive list will list all drives that are recognized by the computer. Each drive may be selected or deselected individually by clicking on the check box next to the corresponding drive letter or USB port number (See Port Training). The checked drives are the target drives that will be operated on when the Start button is clicked. Select the target drives carefully before pressing start. The Select All button will select all available drives in the list. The Deselect All button will deselect all drives in the list. The Refresh button will refresh the drives list. This is necessary if new drives have been added or removed from the device. 2. Enter Label: The Enter Label box allows you to specify a volume label for the target drives during a format operation. Output Window: The output window displays job status updates while jobs are running or when they have completed. 6. Completed: The Completed box displays the total number of drives that have been completed for the current job. For jobs with more than one round, the completed box will be updated after each round is completed. 7. Rejected: The Rejected box displays the number of drives that have been rejected due to errors during the copy or verify process. 8. Start Button: Clicking the Start button will initiate the job type that was selected from the drop down menu in the Source tab. 9. Cancel Button: Clicking the Cancel button will stop the current job from running. 10. www.aleratec.com9 Using the USB Duplication Suite Software Data Copy Only Use this function to copy files or folders to one or more USB flash drive(s). This function will overwrite any files/folders on the target drive(s) with the same name as the source files/folders. 1. Start by choosing Data Copy Only from the drop down menu located on the “Source” tab. 2. On the “Source” tab, click “Add Files” to copy individual files or “Add Folder” to copy an entire folder. You may add both files and folders. 3. Once all data has been selected, you may choose to verify the data copy process by checking the “Verify Files” box located on the right of the drop down menu. 4. Click on the Destination tab, select which drives you would like to operate on from the drive list. 5. After selecting the drives from the drive list and specifying any options you may click the Start button located inside the Destination tab to begin the duplication process.
www.aleratec.com10 Using the USB Duplication Suite Software Format (FAT, FAT32, NTFS) There are three format options available in the USB Duplication Suite. Format FAT, Format FAT32, and Format NTFS. Each option will format the selected drives and if specified apply a volume label. By default a quick format will be run. However if you wish to perform a full format, you must check the “Full Format” box after selecting one of the three formats. 1. Start by selecting one of the three formats “Format FAT”, “Format FAT32”, or “Format NTFS” from the drop down menu. 2. If a Full format is desired, check the box labeled Full Format to the right of the drop down menu. 3. Next, click on the Destination tab. 4. Select the drives that you wish to format.

You can specify a volume label which will be applied to all drives in the text box under “Enter Label” which is found in the Destination tab. I. Note: FAT and FAT32 file systems have restrictions on volume labels which allow for up to 11 characters, not including the following special characters * ? . , ; : / \ | + = < > [ ] II. NTFS file systems allow up to 32 characters for a volume label and allow special characters 6. Click on the Destination tab, select which drives you would like to operate on from the drive list. 7. Specify the number of rounds you would like to conduct. (For multiple rounds: when the first round is finished you will be prompted to remove completed drives and insert the new drives before pressing OK to continue). 8. Press the Start button to start the format process. Check the Output window for job status updates NOTE: If Full Format is selected, the formatting process may take a significant amount of time.

All selected drives will be formatted with the file system you selected. Once the format is complete, the data copy process will start automatically. www.aleratec.com15 Using the USB Duplication Suite Software Create Image File Use this function to create an image file from a single USB flash drive. The create image file supports creating images of bootable media which may then be copied using the Clone Image file job function. 1. From the drop down menu choose “Create Image File”. A new window will open. 2. The drop down list will show all available drives. Select the drive you would like to create an image of. 3. You may modify the file name of the image file that will be created by editing the File Name field. Make sure the file name has the extension “.img”. 4. Once the correct drive is selected and the file name is specified. Press Start to begin the process. 5. You can check the job status in the box located in the Create Image File window. NOTE: This process may take a significant amount of time.
www.aleratec.com16 Using the USB Duplication Suite Software Clone Image File Use this function to clone an image to one or more drives. The clone image file supports cloning images of bootable media that have been created using the “Create Image File” function of the USB Duplication Suite. 1. From the drop down menu choose “Clone Image File”. A new window will open. 2. To select the image file that will be cloned. Click the “Browse” button and select an .img file. 3. Next, select the drives that the image will be cloned to by checking the appropriate drives in the drive list located on the window shown above. 4. Once all drives have been selected press the Start button. 5. You can check the job status in the box located under the “Browse” button. NOTE: This process may take a significant amount of time.
