19201.3.4 Lock/Unlock screen To pr otect y our phone and privacy, lock the phone screen by cr eating a variety of patterns, PIN or password etc. To create a screen unlock pattern (refer to section “Screen lock” for detail settings) r Touch Settings > Lock screen > Screen lock > Pattern. r Draw your own pattern. Draw your unlock pattern Touch to confirm by drawing pattern again To create a screen unlock PIN or Password r Touch Settings > Lock scr een > Screen lock > PIN or Password. r Set your PIN or password. To lock phone screen Pr ess the Power ke y once to lock the screen. To unlock phone screen Press the power key once to light up the screen, draw the unlock pattern you have created or enter PIN or password to unlock the screen. If you have chosen Swipe as the screen lock, swipe screen upward to unlock screen.
2122 Unlock phone screen shortcuts Additional shortcuts are available from unlock screen: Google Now and Camera . While screen is locked swipe to the right to access Google Now, or swipe to the left to access Camera without needing to unlock screen. 1.3.5 Customize quick launch icons on lock screen The phone has quick accesses to five apps from lock screen by default: New message, Email, Selfie, Calculator, Keep. You can customize your lock screen by creating quick launch icons, which can directly bring you into a specific function or app. To enable quick launch function on lock screen: 1. Touch Settings > Lock screen. 2. Make sure the Screen Lock is not set to None. 3. Touch Func shortcuts to access menu, toggle the switch to turn on Func function. To customize quick launch icons on lock screen: 1. T ouch Settings > Lock screen. 2. Then touch Func shortcuts. 3. A list of 14 shortcuts allows you to choose from. Five of them are preset in phone, you can manually select the shortcuts you want to show on lock screen.
2324 To use quick launch icons on lock screen: 1. Press the Pow e r key to light the screen. 2. Double tap the desired quick launch icon to explore the function or app. 1.3.6 Personaliz e your Home scr een Add T ouch and hold a folder, an application, or a widget to activate the Move mode and drag the item to any Home screen you prefer. Reposition Touch and hold the item to be r epositioned to activate the Move mode, drag the item to the desired position and then release. You can mo ve items both on the Home scr een and the Favorite tray. Hold the icon on the left or right edge of the scr een to drag the item to another Home screen. Remov e T ouch and hold the item to be remov ed to activate the Move mode, drag the item up to the top of the icon, and release after the item turns red. Cr eate folders To improve the organization of items (shortcuts or applications) on the Home screen, you can add them to a folder by stacking one item on top of another. To rename a folder, open it and touch the folder’s title bar to input the new name. 2526Recently-used applications panel To view recently-used applications, touch . T ouch an app in the list to open that application. To remove an app fr om list, s wiping app to left or right side or touch to close it. Touch the Brush button on the bottom of the screen to remove all recently-used applications. 1.3.8 Volume adjustment You can set the ringer, media and phone ringtone volumes to your preference by pressing the Volume up/down key, or touching Settings > Sound & notification to set the volume. 1.4 Applications and widgets menu The applications and widgets menus contain and provide access to all pre-installed and newly downloaded applications or widgets. Accessing applications menu To access the applications menu, touch from the Home screen. To download new applications from applications menu or Home screen touch Play Store icon and search for preferred applications by name, subject or category. Accessing widgets menu In widgets menu, you can view all available widgets that can be added to your home screens. T o access the widgets menu touch and hold an empty place on the Home screen, touch WIDGETS. T o add a widget to a home screen, touch and hold to pick up a preferred widget and drag it to the desired space on the Home screen (if space is not available on preferred home screen a new home screen with available space for a widget must be selected).
2728 To return to Home screen from applications or widgets menu touch the Home key or to return to previous screen from applications or widgets menu touch Back key . 1.5 Phone Protection Device protection is automatically activated when you add a Google Account and set a screen lock. T ogether with Android Device Manager , you can locate and erase your phone and protect it from reuse if it’s lost or stolen. Even if your phone gets wiped, your Google Account password will be required before anyone can use your phone. To activate phone protection 1. Select Pr otect your phone when pr ompted during phone set up. Note: If you decide you want to skip option, select Cancel. If you have already set up your phone, activate option by going to Settings/Lock screen/Screen lock. 2. Set Pattern, PIN or Password. 3. Draw an unlock pattern twice and touch CONFIRM to activate the screen lock.
2930To deactivate Note: deactivate this option before you return or exchange your phone or before factory reset to avoid PIN/password from being required to access phone. 1. Touch , then touch Settings and select Lock screen. 2. Touch Screen lock, and you will be prompt to draw the preset unlock pattern to confirm. 3. Select None to deactivate. 4. Adjust the Onscr een Keyboard orientation T urn the phone sideways or upright to adjust the Onscreen Keyboard orientation. 3132 2.1.1 Google keyboard Touch to add a contact from saved Groups or Contacts Touch to switch abc/ Abc mode, touch twice for ABC mode. Touch to switch between symbol and numeric keyboard. Touch to input space. Touch to enter text. Touch to enter phone number or contact . Touch to view messaging options. Touch to send message. Switching keyboards from new message screen When in new message screen, drag down the Status bar to open the Notifications panel. In the Notifications panel, touch Change keyboard, from this input method shortcut menu you can choose between: Android keyboard, Google Keyboard, Google voice typing. 2.2 Text messaging Use the text messaging feature to send and receive text (SMS) and multimedia (MMS) messages. Press and hold to open settings. Touch to select symbols, press and hold to go to next line. rTouch to view the whole message thread. r Touch & hold to activate delete mode. Touch to create a new message. Creating a text message In message screen, touch the new message icon to create a new text/multimedia message.
3334When in new message screen, touch To line and insert contact name or phone numbe r. Y ou can also touch to insert contact from Contacts list. Next touch the Send message line and insert text message; to add picture, video, audio, contact or calendar to text message touch attach icon . Once message is complete, touch to send text message to contact. You can edit the text you have entered. r Touch and hold or double-tap within the text you would like to edit. r Drag the tabs to change the highlighted selection. r The following options will show: CUT, COPY, PASTE, SHARE TRANSLATE, ASSIST. r Touch the Back key to go back without any action. 3 Phone calls, Call history log and Contacts 3.1 Call ........................................................................\ ......................... 3.1.1 Placing a call You can easily place a call using Call . T ouch the Application tab from the Home screen and select Call . Touch to enter more call options. Touch to hide/ display keyboard. Slide to access the RECENTS and CONTACTS. Display the suggested number(s). Touch and hold to access voicemail. To make phone call, choose from the following options: enter the desired number directly into dial pad, then touch , or directly touch the contact to place a call. If you make an error when inputting a phone number, you can delete the incorrect digit(s) by touching . To hang up a call, touch .
3536 International call To dial an international call, long press to enter “+”, then enter the international country prefix followed by the full phone number and finally touch . Emergency call If your phone has network coverage, dial the emergency number and touch to make an emergency call. This works even without a SIM card and without typing the PIN code. 3.1.2 Answering or rejecting a call When you receive a call: rSlide the icon to the right to answer; r Slide the icon to the left to reject; r Slide the icon upwards to reject the call by sending a preset message. To mute the ringtone volume of an incoming call, press the Volume up/down key, or turn the phone over (when the Settings > Gestures > Turn over to mute option is activated). 3.1.3 Accessing y our voicemail Y our voicemail is provided by your network to avoid missing calls. It works like an answering machine that you can access at any time. T o access y our voicemail, long press . If you receive a voicemail, a voicemail icon appears on the Status bar. Open the Notification panel and touch New voicemail. 3.1.4 Resetting your voicemail password If you forget your voicemail password, you can reset it to the last four digits of your phone number. To start reset enter #793# into dial pad, touch to dial, remain looking at your screen and a message will display confirming reset of voicemail password to last four digits of your phone number, select OK when displayed and reset is completed. 3.1.5 During a call To adjust the volume during a call, press the Volume up/down key.
3738 Touch to end the current call. Touch to activate the speaker during the current call. Touch this icon again to deactivate the speaker. Touch to mute the current call. Touch this icon again to unmute the call. Touch to display the Dial pad. Touch to hold the current call. Touch this icon again to retrieve the call. Touch to add a call. Touch to enter video call. To avoid accidental operation of the touchscreen during a call, the screen will be locked automatically when you put the cellphone close to your ear; and it will be unlocked when the cellphone is taken away from your ear. 3.1.6 Managing multiple calls With this phone you can handle multiple calls at the same time. Swap calls When you accept two calls, touch the icon, you can now switch between two lines. The current call will be put on hold and you are able to join the other call. Conference calls (1) You can set up a conference call as follows. r Place a call to the first participant of the conference call. r Touch the icon . r Then touch the icon and then touch the icon to start the conference. r Touch to end the conference call and disconnect all callers. 3.1.7 Call settings Touch from the Call screen, then touch Settings. The following options are available: Call history Voicemail - Service: Opens a dialog box where you can select your operator’s voicemail service or another service. - Setup: Touch to view the voicemail number. - Sound: Touch to set the sound when a new voicemail arrives. - Vibrate: Mark the checkbox to enable vibration when a new voicemail arrives. Call barring: Touch to configure Call barring settings. Mark the check box to activate the call barring for outgoing and incoming calls.
