2 PLACEMENT The Remote Volume Control should be located in a central area where its front panel can receive IR signals from the hand held remote. CONNECTIONS Important: Ensure the rear panel power cord is disconnected whenever changing connections. 1) Connect one end of the supplied 9 pin control cable to the REMOTE connector on the rear panel of the Callisto. 2) Connect the other end of the 9 pin control cable to the CONTROL connector on the rear panel of the Remote Volume Control unit. 3) Manually turn both volume controls on the Callisto, to 0 (all the way counter- clockwise). 4) Connect the AC power cable to the rear panel AC input on the Remote Volume Control. Note: If the control cable becomes di sconnected while the Remote Volume Control’s AC power is on, the synch ronization between the two units may be lost. If this happens, repeat steps 3 and 4 above.
OPERATION DISPLAY The numerical value on the left of the display indicates the left channel volume and the value on the right indicates the right channel volume. If the two volumes are the same, the display will indicate only one value in the center, which represents both channels. MUTE Press the Mute button to activate the Mu te feature. The LED above the Mute button will illuminate. This will send a volume level of 0 to both the left and right channels of the Callisto. The display will re main at the level values that were present prior to the Mute being activated. This shows the user the volume level that the Callisto will go to when Mute is deac tivated. Press the Mute button once more (Mute LED goes out) to deactivate t he Mute feature and return the Callisto to the volume level it was prior to activation. PHASE This is an optional feature. Press the button to activate/deactivate. When the blue LED is off, the phase is normal. When the blue LED is on, the phase is inverted. The button and LED function as described regardle ss of whether the option is installed or not. DOWN Volume to both Left and Right channels is decremented by pressing the Down button. UP Volume to both Left and Right channels is incremented by pressing the Up button. 3
REMOTE CONTROL When using the hand held remote control, first press the Calypso button. This should only have to be done the first time after the batteries have been inserted of if the Janus or Rhea button has been depressed. Press the up button on the hand held remote to increment the volume of both channels by one step. The volume will incr ement repeatedly if the button is held. Press the down arrow on the hand held remote to decrement the volume of both channels by one step. The volume will decrem ent repeatedly if the button is held. The left/right balance can be controlled using the hand held remote only. To adjust the balance, press either t he left or right BAL button. Example of Balance button behavior: If the left BAL button is pressed once, the left volume on the Callisto is incremented by one step and the right remain s as it was. If the left BAL is pressed again, the left volume on the Callis to remains the same while the right volume decrements by one step. If the le ft BAL is pressed again, the left volume on the Callisto is incremented by one st ep and the right remains as it was. The volume range is 0 to 45. If the balance is NOT centered, the display will show two separate values, indicated by 2 di gits each. When the volume is raised so that the loudest channel reaches its ma ximum (indicated by a value of 45 on side of the display), the lower volume channel will increase if the volume is raised. If the user desires to maintain the off center balance values when raising the volume, do not increment the volume once the display shows 45 for one of the channels. Alternately do not dec rement the volume when one of the channels reaches 0. 4
Maintenance If the Callisto’s volume controls are adjusted manually, the Remove Volume Control will sense and track the changes. From time to time it is possible that the display will be inaccurate relative to the pos ition of the volume control. If this happens, manually turn both of the volume c ontrols of the Callisto to 0, unplug the AC power to the Remote Volume Control – wait 10 seconds and then reconnect the AC power. The display on the Remote Volume Control should\ read 0 for both channels (one 0 in the cent er). Using the hand held remote control, bring up the volume. The Remote Volume Control does not require any internal field maintenance. Do not, under any condition, remove the top co ver. Refer all service to Aesthetix authorized service personnel. 90 DAY LIMITED WARRANTY TERMS AND CONDITIONS (3 Year optional extended service contract) 1. Aesthetix warrants the product designated herein to be free of manufactu\ ring defects in material and workmanship, subject to the conditions herein set forth, for a period of 90 days from the date of purchase by the origi nal purchaser. If the purchaser registers the unit with Aesthetix by mailing in the warranty card, together with a copy of the bill of sale, within 14 days of the date of purchase, said purchaser will be register ed for an extended service contract. The extended service contract extends the 90 days to a period of 3 years from the date of purchase by the original purchaser or no later than 4 years from the date of shipment to the authorized Aesthetix dealer, whichever comes first. 2. CONDITIONS This warranty is subject to the following condi tions and limitations. The warranty is void and inapplicable if the product has been used or handled other than in accordance with the instructions in the owners manual, abused or misused, damaged by accident or neglect or in being transported, or the defect is due to the pr oduct being repaired or tampered with or modified by anyone other than Aesthetix. The product must be packed and returned to Aesthetix by the customer at his or her sole expense. A re turned product must be accompanied by a written description of the defect and a photocopy of the or iginal purchase receipt. This receipt must clearly list model and serial number, the date of purchase, the name and address of the purchaser and authorized dealer and the purchase price. Aesthetix reserves the right to modify the design of any product without obligation to purchasers of previously manufactured products and to change the prices or specif ications of any product without notice or obligation to any person. 3. REMEDY In the event the above product fails to m eet the warranty, and the above conditions have been met, the purchasers sole remedy under the limited warranty shall be to return the product to Aesthetix where the defect will be rect ified without charge for parts or labor. 4. LIMITED TO ORIGINAL PURCHASER This warranty is for the sole benefit of the or iginal purchaser of the covered product and shall not be transferred to a subsequent purchaser of the product. 5. DURATION OF WARRANTY This warranty expires 90 days after the date of original purchase. If Aesthetix receives the warranty registration card, this period is extended to the third anniversary of the date of purchase or no later that the fourth anniversary of t he shipment to the authorized Aesthetix dealer, whichever comes first. 6. MISCELLANEOUS ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES RELATING TO THE ABOVE PRODUCT SHALL BE LIMITED TO THE DURATION OF THIS WARRANTY. THE WARRANTY DOES NOT EXTEND TO ANY INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL COSTS OR DAMAGES TO THE PURCHASER. Some states do not allow limitations on how long an impli ed warranty lasts or an exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitations or exclusions may not apply to you. This Warranty gives you specific legal ri ghts, and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state. 7. WARRANTY OUTSIDE THE USA Aesthetix has formal distribution in many of the countries of the free world, in each country the Aesthetix importer has contractually accepted the responsibility for product warranty.
