About 12 hours prior to defrosting, set a lower temperature, in order to build up sufficient chill reserve for the interruption in operation. A certain amount of frost will always form on the freezer shelves and around the top compartment. Defrost the freezer when the frost layer reaches a thickness of about 3-5 mm. 1. Switch off the appliance, or pull out electrical plug from the wall socket. 2. Remove any stored food, wrap it in several layers of newspaper and put it in a cool place. WARNING! Do not touch frozen goods with wet hands. Hands can freeze to the goods. 3. Leave the door open. In order to speed up the defrosting process, place a pot of warm water inthe freezer compartment. In addition, remove pieces of ice that break away before defrosting is complete. 4. When defrosting is completed, dry the interior thoroughly. 5. Switch on the appliance. After three hours reload the previously removed food into the freezer compartment.6.5 Periods of non-operation When the appliance is not in use for long periods, take the following precautions: 1. Disconnect the appliance from electricity supply. 2. Remove all food. 3. Defrost (if necessary) and clean the appliance and all accessories. 4. Clean the appliance and all accessories. 5. Leave the door/doors open to prevent unpleasant smells. WARNING! If the cabinet will be kept on, ask somebody to check it once in a while to prevent the food inside from spoiling in case of a power failure.7. TROUBLESHOOTINGWARNING! Refer to "Installation". 3. If necessary, replace the defective door gaskets. Contact the Authorised Service Centre.8. The wires in the mains lead are coloured in accordance with the following code: • A - green and yellow: Earth • C - brown: Live • D - blue: Neutral As the colours of the wires in the mains lead of this appliance may not correspond with the coloured markings identifying the terminals in your plug, proceed as follows: 1. Connect the wire coloured green and yellow to the terminal marked either with the letter “E“ or by the earth symbol or coloured green and yellow. 2. Connect the wire coloured blue to the terminal either marked with the letter “N“ or coloured black. 3. Connect the wire coloured brown to the terminal either marked with the “L“ or coloured red. 4. Check that no cut, or stray strands of wire is present and the cord clamp ( E ) is secure over the outer sheath. Make sure the electricity supply voltage is the same as that indicated on the appliance rating plate. 5. Switch on the appliance. The appliance is supplied with a 13 amp fuse ( B). In the event of having to change the fuse in the plug supplied, a 13 amp ASTA approved (BS 1362) fuse must be used. WARNING! A cut off plug inserted into a 13 amp socket is a serious safety (shock) hazard. Ensure that it is disposed of safely.www.aeg.com14 A BC D E
8.3 Ventilation requirements The airflow behind the appliance must be sufficient.CAUTION! Refer to the assembly instructions for the installation.8.4 Door reversibility 1.Loosen and remove the upper pin. 2. Remove the upper door. 3. Remove the spacer. 4. Loosen the middle hinge. 5.Remove the lower door. 6. Loosen and remove the lower pin. 7.Tighten the lower pin on the opposite side. 8. Install the lower door. 9. Tighten the middle hinge. 10. Install the spacer. 11. Install the upper door. 12. Tighten the upper pin. Do a final check to make sure that: • All screws are tightened. • The magnetic seal adheres to the cabinet. • The door opens and closes correctly. If the ambient temperature is cold (i.e. in Winter), the gasket may not fit perfectly to the cabinet. In that case, wait for the natural fitting of the gasket. In case you do not want to carry out the above mentioned operations, contact the nearest Authorised Service Centre. The Authorised Service specialist will carry out the reversibility of the doors at your cost.8.5 Installing the applianceCAUTION! Make sure that the mains cable can move freely. 1. 2.Install the appliance in the niche. 3. Push the appliance in the direction of the arrows (1) until the upper gap cover stops against the kitchen furniture. 4. Push the appliance in the direction of the arrows (2) against the cupboard on the opposite side of the hinge. 5. Adjust the appliance in the niche. Make sure that the distance between the appliance and the cupboard front-edge is 44 mm. The lower hinge cover (in the accessories bag) makes sure that the distance between the appliance and the kitchen furniture is correct. Make sure that the clearance between the appliance and the cupboard is 4 mm. 6. Open the door. Put the lower hinge cover in position. 7. Attach the appliance to the niche with 4 screws. 8. Remove the correct part from the hinge cover (E). Make sure to remove the part DX, in the case of right hinge, SX in opposite case. www.aeg.com16x x 1 2 4 mm 44 mm II
9.Attach the covers (C, D) to the lugs and the hinge holes. 10. Install the vent grille (B). 11. Attach the hinge covers (E) to the hinge. 12. Connect the appliance laterally to the kitchen furniture sidewall. 13. Loosen the screws of the part (G) and move the part (G) till the furniture sidewall. 14. Tighten the screws of the part (G) again. 15. Attach the part (H) to the part (G). 16. Disconnect the parts (Ha), (Hb), (Hc) and (Hd). 17. 19.Open the appliance door and the kitchen furniture door at an angle of 90°. 20. Insert the small square (Hb) into guide (Ha). 21. Put together the appliance door and the furniture door and mark the holes. 22. Remove the brackets and mark a distance of 8 mm from the outer edge of the door where the nail must be fitted (K). 23. Place the small square on the guide again and fix it with the screws supplied. 24. Align the kitchen furniture door and the appliance door by adjusting the part (Hb). 25. Press the part (Hd) on the part (Hb).
