7.3 Periods of non-operation When the appliance is not in use for long periods, take the following precau- tions: 1.disconnect the appliance from elec- tricity supply 2.remove all food 3.defrost and clean the appliance and all accessories 4.leave the door/doors open to pre- vent unpleasant smells. If the cabinet will be kept on, ask somebody to check it once in a while to prevent the food inside from spoiling in case of a power failure. 8. WHAT TO DO IF… During operation of the appliance some smaller but annoying trouble can often occur, which does not require calling a technician out. In the following chart in- formation is given about them to avoid unnecessary charges on service. The operation of the appliance goes with certain sounds (com- pressor and circulating sound). This not means a trouble, but a normal operation. The appliance operates discon- tinuously, so the stopping of compressor does not mean be- ing no current. That is why you must not touch the electrical parts of the appliance before breaking the circuit. Only service is allowed to replace the lighting device. Contact your Service Center . 8.2 Closing the door 1.Clean the door gaskets. 2.If necessary, adjust the door. Refer to "Installation". 3.If necessary, replace the defective door gaskets. Contact the Service Center. 9. INSTALLATION WARNING! Read the "Safety Information" carefully for your safety and cor- rect operation of the appliance before installing the appliance. 9.1 Positioning Install this appliance at a location where the ambient temperature corresponds to the climate class indicated on the rating plate of the appliance: Cli- mate classAmbient temperature SN+10°C to + 32°C N+16°C to + 32°C ST+16°C to + 38°C T+16°C to + 43°C 9.2 Location AB mm mm min100 20 The appliance should be installed well away from sources of heat such as radia- tors, boilers, direct sunlight etc. Ensure that air can circulate freely around the back of the cabinet. To ensure best per- formance, if the appliance is positioned below an overhanging wall unit, the min- imum distance between the top of the cabinet and the wall unit must be at least 100 mm . should not be positioned below over- hanging wall units. Accurate levelling is ensured by one or more adjustable feet at the base of the cabinet. WARNING! It must be possible to disconnect the appliance from the mains power supply; the plug must therefore be easily accessible af- ter installation. 9.3 Electrical Connection CAUTION! Any electrical work required to install this appliance should be carried out by a qualified electri- cian or competent person. WARNING! This appliance must be earthed. The manufacturer declines any li- ability should these safety meas- ures not be observed. 12 3 4 5 The wires in the mains lead are coloured in accordance with the following code: 1Green and Yellow: Earth 3Brown: Live 5Blue: Neutral As the colours of the wires in the mains lead of this appliance may not corre- spond with the coloured markings iden- tifying the terminals in your plug, pro- ceed as follows: 1.Connect the wire coloured green and yellow to the terminal marked either with the letter “E“ or by the earth symbol or coloured green and yellow. 2.Connect the wire coloured blue to the terminal either marked with the letter “N“ or coloured black. 3.Connect the wire coloured brown to the terminal either marked with the “L“ or coloured red. 4.Check that no cut, or stray strands of wire is present and the cord clamp 4 is secure over the outer sheath. 5.Make sure the electricity supply volt- age is the same as that indicated on the appliance rating plate. 6.Switch on the appliance. The appliance is supplied with a 13 amp plug fitted 2 . In the event of having to change the fuse in the plug supplied, a 13 amp ASTA approved (BS 1362) fuse must be used. WARNING! A cut off plug inserted into a 13 amp socket is a serious safety (shock) hazard. Ensure that it is disposed of safely. 9.4 Rear spacers 2 431 You can find the two spacers in the bag with documentation. Do these steps to install the spacers: 1.Release the screw. 2.Engage the spacer below the screw. 3.Turn the spacer to the right position. 14www.aeg.com
4.Tighten again the screws. 9.5 Levelling When placing the appliance ensure that it stands level. This can be achieved by two adjustable feet at the bottom in front. 9.6 Removing the shelf holders A B C Your appliance is equipped with shelf re- tainers that make it possible to secure the shelves during transportation. To remove them proceed as follows: 1.Move the shelf holders in the direc- tion of the arrow (A). 2.Raise the shelf from the rear and push it forward until it is freed (B). 3.Remove the retainers (C). 9.7 Door reversibility To carry out the following opera- tions, we suggest that this be made with another person that will keep a firm hold on the doors of the appliance during the operations. To change the opening direction of the door, do these steps: • Remove the plug from the power socket. • Tilt back the appliance carefully so that the compressor cannot touch the floor. • Remove the plinth (1). • Remove the cap (2) and position it on the opposite side. • Unscrew the hinge (3) and remove the door. • Unscrew the lower pin and the wash- ers (3) • Position the pin and the washers (6) on the opposite side (7). • Unscrew the other hinge (5) 1 2 3 8 6 7 • Unscrew the upper pin (4) and screw it on the opposite side. • Refit and screw both lower hinges. • Refit the plinth (8). • 5 4 • Remove the handle. Unscrew the top handle bracket from the handle rod (1). Unscrew the bottom handle brack- et from the door (2) • Unscrew the top handle bracket from the door (3). • Re-screw the handle bracket on the door (4). Turn the handle bracket with the handle and screw them to the door (5) and the fitted handle bracket (6) • Re-insert the door on the lower hinge pivot . • Re-insert the door on the upper hinge pivot slightly tilting the door.• Screw the lower hinges. • Stand the appliance upright. If the ambient temperature is cold (i.e. in Winter), the gasket may not fit perfectly to the cabinet. In that case, wait for the natural fitting of the gasket. In case you do not want to carry out the above mentioned operations, contact the nearest After Sales Service Force.
