1. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS Before the installation and use of the ap- pliance, carefully read the supplied in- structions. The manufacturer is not re- sponsible if an incorrect installation and use causes injuries and damages. Always keep the instructions with the appliance for future reference. 1.1 Children and vulnerable people safety WARNING! Risk of suffocation, injury or per- manent disability. • This appliance can be used by chil- dren aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or in- struction for the operation of the ap- pliance by a person who is responsible for their safety. • Do not let children play with the appli- ance. • Keep all packaging away from chil- dren. • Keep all detergents away from chil- dren. • Keep children and pets away from the appliance door when it is open. • Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without su- pervision. 1.2 Installation • Remove all the packaging. • Do not install or use a damaged appli- ance. • Obey the installation instruction sup- plied with the appliance. • Make sure that the floor where you in- stall the appliance is flat, stable, heat resistant and clean. • Do not install or use the appliance where the temperature is less than 5°C or higher than 35°C. • Do not install the appliance behind a lockable door, a sliding door or a door with a hinge on the opposite side,where the appliance door can not be fully opened. • Always be careful when you move the appliance because it is heavy. Always wear safety gloves. • Always move the appliance vertically. • The rear surface of the appliance must be put against the wall. • Make sure that there is air circulation between the appliance and the floor. • Make sure the carpet does not ob- struct the ventilation openings in the base of the appliance (if applicable). • Exhaust air must not be discharged in- to a flue which is used for exhausting fumes from appliances burning gas or other fuels. (if applicable) • If the tumble dryer is put on top of a washing machine, use the stacking kit. The stacking kit, available from your authorized vendor, can be used only with the appliance specified in the in- structions, supplied with the accesso- ry. Read it carefully before installation (Refer to the Installation leaflet). • Ensure you have good ventilation in the installation room to avoid the back flow of gases into the room from ap- pliances burning other fuels, including open fires. • The appliance can be installed as free- standing or below the kitchen counter with correct space (Refer to the Instal- lation leaflet). • When the appliance is put in its per- manent position, check if it is fully lev- el with the aid of a spirit level. If it is not, adjust the feet until it is. Electrical connection WARNING! Risk of fire and electrical shock. • The appliance must be earthed. • Make sure that the electrical informa- tion on the rating plate agrees with the power supply. If not, contact an electrician. • Always use a correctly installed shock- proof socket. ENGLISH3
• Do not use multi-plug adapters and extension cables. • Make sure not to cause damage to the mains plug and to the mains cable. Should the appliance power supply cable need to be replaced, this must be carried out by our Service Centre. • Connect the mains plug to the mains socket only at the end of the installa- tion. Make sure that there is access to the mains plug after the installation. • Do not pull the mains cable to discon- nect the appliance. Always pull the mains plug. • Do not touch the mains cable or the mains plug with wet hands. • Only for UK and Ireland. The appli- ance has a 13 amp mains plug. If it is necessary to change the fuse in the mains plug, use a 13 amp ASTA (BS 1362) fuse. • This appliance complies with the E.E.C. Directives. 1.3 Use WARNING! Risk of fire, explosion, electric shock or damage to the appli- ance • Use this appliance in a household on- ly. • Do not change the specification of this appliance. • The final part of the drying cycle oc- curs without heat (cool down cycle) to ensure that the items will not be dam- aged. If you stop the appliance before the end of the drying cycle, immediately remove and spread out all items, so that the heat can dissipate. • If you use fabric softener or similar products, obey the instructions on the packaging. • Do not run the appliance without a fil- ter. Clean the lint filter before or after each use. • Wipe away lint that has accumulated around the appliance.• Do not dry the damaged items which contain padding or fillings. • Do not dry items such as foam rubber (latex foam), shower caps, waterproof textiles, rubber backed articles and clothes or pillows fitted with foam rub- ber pads.. • Before drying items that have been in contact with substances such as cook- ing oil, acetone, alcohol , petrol, kero- sene, spot removers, turpentine, wax- es and wax removers, wash them in hot water with an extra amount of de- tergent. • Do not dry items in the appliance if in- dustrial chemicals have been used for cleaning. • Make sure that no gas lighters or matches have been left in the pockets of the clothing. • Only dry fabrics which are applicable to dry in the tumble dryer. Follow the instructions on the fabric label. • Do not dry not washed items in the appliance. • If you have washed your laundry with a stain remover start an extra rinse cycle before you start the dryer. • Do not drink or prepare food with the condensed water. It can cause health problems to people and pets. • Do not sit or stand on the open door. • Obey the maximum load volume of 8 kg (refer to the “Programme chart” chapter). • Do not dry dripping wet clothes in the tumble dryer. 1.4 Care and Cleaning WARNING! Risk of injury or damage to the appliance. • Before maintenance, deactivate the appliance and disconnect the mains plug from the mains socket. • Do not use water spray and steam to clean the appliance. • Clean the appliance with a moist soft cloth. Only use neutral detergents. Do not use abrasive products, abrasive cleaning pads, solvents or metal ob- jects. 4www.aeg.com
1.5 Disposal WARNING! Risk of injury or suffocation. • Disconnect the appliance from the mains supply.• Cut off the mains cable and discard it. • Remove the door catch to prevent children and pets to get closed in the appliance. 2. 3. ACCESSORIES 3.1 Stacking kit Accessory name: SKP11, STA8, STA9 Available from your authorized vendor. Stacking kit can be used only with the washing machines specified in the leaf- let. See the leaflet attached. Read carefully the instructions supplied with the accessory. 3.2 Draining kit Accessory name: DK11. It is available from your authorized ven- dor (can be attached to some types of the tumble dryers) The accessory for through draining of the condensed water into a basin, si- phon, gully, etc. After the installation, the water container is drained automati- cally. The water container must stay in the appliance. The installed hose must be on the height from minimum of 50 cm to maximum of 1 m from floor level. The hose cannot bein loop. Decrease the length of the hose if necessary. Read carefully the instructions supplied with the accessory. 3.3 Pedestal with the drawer Accessory name: PDSTP10. It is available from your authorized ven- dor. To put the appliance higher at the level which helps to easy load and remove the laundry. The drawer can be used for laundry stor- age e.g. : towels, cleaning products and more. Read carefully the instructions supplied with the accessory. 3.4 Drying rack Accessory name: RA5, RA6, RA11, RA12 It is available from your authorized ven- dor (can be attached to some types of the tumble dryers). 7. USING THE APPLIANCE 7.1 Preparing the laundry Dry only the laundry applicable to dry in the tumble dryer. Make sure if the laundry is applicable to dry in the tumble dryer. Do the check of the fabric mark on the clothes. Fabric markProperty Applicable to dry in the tumble dryer Applicable to dry in the tumble dryer at standard temperature Applicable to dry in the tumble dryer at decreased temperature Not applicable to dry in the tumble dryer Correctly prepare the laundry: • close zips, button up duvet covers and attach loose ties or ribbons (e.g. rib- bons of aprons) - laundry can tangle • make sure the pockets are empty - re- move metal items (paper clips, safety pins, etc.). • turn items with 2 fabric layers inside out (e.g. cotton lined anoraks, the cot- ton fabric layer must be external). Dry only: • cotton and linen with Cottons pro- grammes • synthetic and mixtures with Synthetic programmes • separately the strong coloured textiles and the light coloured textiles - col- ours can bleed • cotton jersey and knitwear only with the applicable programmes - items can shrink Do not put more laundry than the maximum load which is 8kg. 7.2 Loading the laundry 1.Pull the appliance door 2.Load loosely the laundry. 3.Close the appliance door. CAUTION! Do not lock the laundry in be- tween the appliance door and rubber seal. 7.3 Switching on the appliance Push the On/Off button to activate or to deactivate the appliance. When the ap- pliance is on, some indications come in to the view on the display. 7.4 Auto stand-by function To decrease the energy consumption, the automatic stand-by function deacti- vates the appliance: • if the Start/Pause button was not pushed in the time of 5 minutes. • after 5 minutes from the programme end. Push the On/Off button to activate the appliance. 7.5 Setting a programme Use the programme dial to set the pro- gramme.
