MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING11 MAINTENANCE AND CLEANINGMAINTENANCE AND CLEANING Alarm signal reset • Turn the Lights and the Suction motor off. • Press button H and hold for at least 2 seconds, con-firmation is provided by the fact that the Led goes out. Before carrying out any maintenance or cleaning isolate the cooker hood from the mains supply. Charcoal FiltersIn the recirculation mode the charcoal filters absorb smells and unwanted odours. This filter cannot be washed or regenerated, and must be repla- ced when the Led on Button H starts to flash, or at least every 4 months. The alarm can only be seen when the Suction motor is turned on. Enabling/Disabling the alarm signal • For Recirculation Version Hoods, the Filter saturation alarm must be enabled on installation or at a later date. • Turn the Lights and the Suction motor off. • Press button H and hold for at least 5 seconds until the Led gives confirmation as follows: • Led flashes twice - Activated Charcoal Filter Alarm ENA- BLED. • Led flashes once - Activated Charcoal Filter Alarm DISA- BLED.. To Remove the Charcoal Filters • Open the panel by pulling from the center. • Remove the metal grease filters • Remove the saturated activated charcoal filter as shown (A). • Fit the new filters (B). • Replace the metal grease filters. This appliance can be a possible fire hazard if the grease and charcoal filters are not cleaned and replaced as recommended. A B
MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING12 Changing the Halogen Spot Lamp • Remove the snap-on lamp cover by levering it from under the metal ring, supporting it with one hand. • Remove the halogen lamp from the lamp holder by pulling gently. • Replace the lamp with a new one of the same type, making sure that you insert the two pins properly into the housings on the lamp holder. • Replace the snap-on lamp cover. Replacement filters and light bulbs can be obtained from your local Service Force Centre. MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
SOMETHING NOT WORKING - SERVICE AND SPARE PARTS13 SOMETHING NOT WORKING SERVICE AND SPARE PARTS If, having followed these instructions carefully, your cooker hood fails to work properly please carry out the following checks. Symptom The cooker hood will not start The cooker hood is not working effectively The cooker hood has switched off during operation I f after all these checks, the problem persists, contact your local Service Force Centre, quoting the model and serial number. Please note that it will be necessary to provide proof of purchase for any in-guarantee service calls. Solution • Check the hood is connected to the electricity supply. • Check that the fan speed control is set to 1, 2 or 3. • The fan speed is set high enough for the task. • The grease filter is clean. • The kitchen is adequately vented to allow the entry of fresh air. • If set up for recirculation, check that the charcoal filter is still effective. • If set up for extraction, check that the ducting and outlets are not blocked. • The safety cut-out device has been tripped. • Turn off the hob and then wait for the device to reset. In-guarantee customers should ensure that the above checks have been made as the engineer will make a charge if the fault is not a mechanical or electrical breakdown. GUARANTEE CONDITIONS14 GUARANTEE CONDITIONS Standard Guarantee ConditionsWe, AEG, undertake that if within 12 months of the date of the purchase this AEG built-in appliance or any part thereof is proved to be defective by reason only of faulty workmanship or materials, the company will, at our option, repair or replace the same FREE OF ANY CHARGE for labour, materials and carriage on condition that: • The appliance has been correctly installed and used only on the electrical supply stated on the rating plate. • The appliance has been used for normal domestic purposes only, and in accordance with the manufacturer’s operating and maintenance instructions. • The appliance has not been serviced, maintained, repaired, taken apart or tampered with by any person not authorised by us. • All service work under this guarantee must be undertaken by an AEG Service Force Centre. • Any appliances or defective parts replaced shall become the property of this company. Regulations and local Electricity Board regulations. Electrical ConnectionBefore connecting to the mains supply ensure that the mains voltage corresponds to the voltage on the rating plate inside the cooker hood. Remove the grease filters (see paragraph Maintenance) being sure that the connector of the feeding cable is correctly inserted in the socket placed on the side of the fan. This appliance is fitted with a 3 core mains cable and must be permanently connected to the electricity supply via a double-pole switch having 3mm minimum contact gap on each pole. A Switched Fuse Connection Unit to BS1363 Part 4, fitted with a 3 Amp fuse, is a recom- mended mains supply connection accessory to ensure compliance with the Safety Requirements applicable to fixed wiring instructions. This appliance conforms to BS 800: 1988 and EEC Directive No. 78 308 regarding suppression of radio and television interference.
INSTALLING THE COOKER HOOD16 INSTALLING THE COOKER HOOD Please ensure that when the appliance is installed it is ea-sily accessible to an engineer in the event of a breakdown. All installations must comply with the local au- thorities requirements for the discharge of exhaust air. Incorrect installation may affect the safety of this cooker hood. Installation Requirements Before installation check the wall to which the cooker hood is to be fitted for electric cables, water pipes or gas. The chimney hood must be installed according to the instructions suppliers below and by qualified and com- petent personnel to the relevant National Standards. The cooker hood is designed to be fixed to a solid block or block wall over a cooking area. If not, suitable fixing must be used for other types of walls. The hood can be used in the extraction (ducted to the outside) or recirculation (internal recycling) mode. The Installation work must be undertaken by a qualified and competent person. The manufacturer disclaims any responsibility to damages due to incorrect installation of the cooker hood or if the cooker hood is not installed in compliance with relevant regulations controlling this type of installation. UnpackingBefore unpacking the cooker hood position the carton with the arrows pointing upwards as illustrated on the carton. INSTALLING THE COOKER HOOD17 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS Wall drilling and bracket fixingAs a first step, proceed with the following drawings: • a vertical line up to the ceiling or up to the upper limit, at the centre of the area in which the hood is to be fitted; • a horizontal line at a minimum 1004 mm above the cooker top. • Mark a point (1) on the horizontal line, 247 mm to the right of the vertical reference line. • Repeat this operation on the other side, checking that the two marks are levelled. • Mark a reference point (2) as indicated at 210 mm from the vertical reference line and 482 mm above the cooker top. • Repeat this operation on the other side, checking that the two marks are levelled. • Drill at the marked points (1), using a ø 12 mm drill bit. • Drill at the marked points (2) using a ø 8 mm drill bit. • Insert the bracket plugs 11 a into the holes (1) and tighten the screws. • Insert plug 11 into holes (2). To install a decorative chimney ( optional ) • Place bracket 7.2.1 on the wall, about 1-2 mm from the ceiling or from the upper limit, aligning the centre (notch) with the vertical reference line. • Mark the wall at the centres of the bracket holes. • Place the bracket 7.2.1 on the wall at X mm below the first bracket (X = height of the upper chimney section), aligning the centre (notch) with the vertical line. • Mark the wall at the centres of the bracket holes. • Drill ø 8 mm holes at all the marked centre points. • Insert the wall plugs 11 in the holes. • Fix the brackets using the 12a screws (4,2 x 44,4) sup- plied with the hood. ���� � ���������� ������ ���� ��� ������ � ��� �����
INSTALLING THE COOKER HOOD18 Hood body mounting• Open the top suction panel and fasten it to the hood body on the left using the pin, so that it does not close again. • Unlock the lower suction panel by removing the fixing pin on the left, and open it. • Remove the Metal grease filters using the handles provi- ded. • Adjust the two screws Vr, in the brackets 11 a, so that they are at the start of their travel. • Hook the hood body to the two brackets 11 a. • From the inside of the hood body, turn screws Vr to level the hood body itself. • Fasten the safety screws 11. • Close the suction panels. INSTALLING THE COOKER HOOD19 Electrical connection and working test: • Connect the hood to the mains through a two-pole switch having a contact gap of at least 3 mm. • Remove the grease filters (see paragraph Maintenance) being sure that the connector of the feeding cable is correctly inserted in the socket placed on the side of the fan.
