Addonics Technologies Saturn Cipher ExDrive Use r Guide 10 Chapter 6 Attaching USIB int erface cable Be sure the Saturn cipher key is inserted into the dr ive enclosure prior to turning on th e power or attachi ng the USIB interface cable to the co mputer. Hard drive will not be detected if the interface cable is attached to the computer without the Cipher key inserted first. Under such condition, the power to the drive enclosure will have to be turned off and turned back on with the Ciph er key already inserted into the drive enclosure in order for the hard dri ve to be detec ted by the system. The Saturn Cipher drive enclosure can be use d as an internal removab le hard drive or as a drive cartridge by installing the optional drive cradle into the drive bay o f a Desktop, Server or any computing equipment. Addonics Technologies Saturn Cipher ExDrive Use r Guide 11 Chapter 7 USIB interface cable installation USB 2.0 USIB interface cable Ø Since USB 2.0 Hi-Speed is an evolution of the existing USB 1.1 specification, it is fully forward and backward compatible with current USB sys tems. Ø If you do not have an USB2.0 port, you may install an optional USB2.0 adapter or controller USB driver installation For Win98 and Win98SE 1. Make sure your computer is up and running. 2. Insert the USB cable to the USB Port. 3. A New Hardware Found message shall pops up. 4. Follow w izard and poin t to the location of the driver. (Follow the steps from the Dri ver Disc to where yo u saved the driver files) 5. Let Windows finish the installation and that’s it. 6. Double click My Computer icon and t here should be an extr a drive letter for the Saturn Cipher ExDrive. 7. You may now access the drive. Note: Saturn Cipher ExDrive is Plug and play under Windows XP, and Me, 2000. There is no third party driver needed. Brand New Har d drive must be Partitioned and Fo rmatted first.
Addonics Technologies Saturn Cipher ExDrive Use r Guide 12 Serial ATA USIB interface cable Serial ATA Saturn Cipher ExDrive Installation For Win98SE, Me, 2000 and XP Note: There no drivers needed to use the Serial ATA cable as long as the drivers are installed for the Serial ATA Controller card/chip. It is plug and play. 1. Make sure the Seria l ATA cable is securely attach to the back of the drive. (For Addonics Pocket drives such as Pocket CDROM, Exdrive etc. you may attach th e USB c onnector t o the USB port of the computer to provide power for the pocket dr ives). May vary from system’s US B port power output. 2. Make sure that power is attach to the drive and turned on. 3. Power on the system or yo u may hot plug while system is on. 4. On the Window Desktop, doub le click on the MY COMPUTER icon. 5. Plug the Serial ATA connector in to your computer’s Serial ATA port. 6. Wait for a few seconds, yo ur computer may blink for a moment as well. Double Click on the “My Computer” icon if not open yet. You are now ready to use the Saturn Ciph er ExDrive. Note: Brand New Hard drive must be Partitioned and Form atted first.

Addonics Technologies Saturn Cipher ExDrive Use r Guide 14 CardBus / PCMCIA setting The Addonics CardBus PCMCIA card has an option switch can all ow you to choose using either PCMCIA m ode or CardBus mode. The switch position is as follows: Side View CardBus mode supports WIN 95/98/ME/2000 and XP only. For DOS, WIN 3.1x and WIN NT, the switch must be set in PCMCIA mode. Note: Brand New Har d drive must be Partitioned and Fo rmatted first for the OS to assign the drive letter. CardBus/PCMCIA driver installation For Windows 95, 98, 98SE and Me (Do not run the SETUP program from the driver disk, SETUP is for DOS or WIN 3.1 using PCMCIA mode only) 1. Power on your system and wait for the Desktop screen. 2. Connect the CardBus/PCMCIA cable and external AC/DC adapter into the back of y our Saturn Cipher ExDr ive kit. 3. Plug the CardBus / PCMCIA card end of the cable into the PCMCIA slot on the side of y our computer. 4. The system will automatically identify the new c ard and ask to load the driver. Follow wizard and point to the location of the driver. (Follow the steps f rom the Driver Disc to where you saved the driver files) 6. When installation is finished, a PCMCIA card ico n will appear in the lower right-hand of the Window’s sy stem tray. 7. Double Click on the “My Computer” icon. You ar e now ready to use the Saturn Cipher ExDrive kit. Note: Brand New Hard drive must be Partitioned and Fo rmatted first. PCMCIA Installation for Windows NT 1. Go to Start\Settings\Control Panel 2. Double Click SCSI adapter icon 3. Click on the Driver Tab 4. Click Add to add new driver 5. Follow wizard and poin t to the location of the driver. (Follow the steps from the Driver Di sc to where you saved the driver files) 6. Select “Addonics PCMCIA…” then click ok. 7. Windows will prompt yo u for driver location again, to continue Type in A:\NT then click continues. 8. Click YES to restart your computer. 9. Double Click on the “My Computer” icon. You are n ow ready to use the Saturn Cipher ExDrive kit. Note: You must use the PCMCIA mode for Windows NT. CardBus/PCMCIA Installation for Windows 2000 1. Make sure your computer is up and runn ing 2. Verify that all cables are connected and ther e is power to the dr ive. 3. Insert the PCMCIA cable to the PCMCIA socket. 4. A New H ardware Found message shall pops up. 5. Select Nex t to continue installa tion. 6. Select Search for a suitable driver.... button an d select Next. 7. In select a Device Driver page, select Have Disk to specify location. Follow wizard and point to the location of the driver. (Follow the steps from the Driver Disc to where you saved the driver files) Select Addonics CardBus.... click YES for the Win dows warning message and let Win2000 to finish the Installation and thats it. 8. Double Click on the “My Computer” icon. You ar e now ready to use the Saturn Cipher ExDrive.

Make sure that all cables are properly c onnected and the drive has power. 2. If you are using the Saturn Ci pher ExDrives, make sure that th e power brick has a steady green light. 3. Boot y our computer to Windows. 4. Plug in the Cardbus/PCMCIA cable to the Computers PCMCIA Socket/Port then insert th e card to the Computer. 5. Windows should now find a new har dware and ask for the driver location. 6. Follow the Wizard. Click next to Continue. 7. Follow wizard and poin t to the location of the driver. (Follow the steps from the Dri ver Disc to where yo u saved the driver files) example browses to your floppy drive and go to the A:\Win2kXp folder. 8. Click the second radio button or select the ADVANCED button then Click Next. 9. Select the Search for be st driver in this location”. Ch eck the “include this Location in the search” option only then click Browse. 10. Browse to your floppy drive an d go to the A:\Win2kXp folder. 11. Select the WinXP driver then click OK, Click next to continue. 12. Click the Contin ue Anyway to proceed. 13. Let the OS install the Driver and thats it. Click Finish. Click YES to restart the Computer if prompted and thats it.
