Folded X-ART diaphragmA7X assembly line Folding of the X-ART diaphragm The X-ART Tweeter This kind of precision is primarily characterized by the X-ART tweeter, ADAM‘s signature feature. With a nearly flat frequency response reaching up to 50 kHz, our proprietary tweeter sets the standard in terms of transparacy and clarity. The worldwide success of ADAM monitors in the professional audio market is based to a great extent on the exceptional capabilities of the X-ART tweeter. Accuracy is an indispensable part of our high quality standards as applied to all aspects of our product development. For that reason, every X-ART tweeter and midrange driver is meticulous- ly crafted and tested by hand at our facility in Berlin. The final tests include all crucial electro-acoustic parameters: impedance, absolute frequency response, sensitivity level, relative frequency response to a reference standard, phase characteristics, transient response, absolute phase and total harmonic distortion. ADAM Professional Audio ADAM monitors are no-compromise tools for producers and sound engineers in search of the best instruments. To be able to assess their work, they know it is essential they can trust what they hear. The monitor must allow an in-depth view into the world of musical soundscapes – and at ADAM Audio, we are dedicated to providing you with an absolutely clear and transparent view into your sound. All of our loudspeakers are designed with one goal in mind: To reproduce audio signals as precisely as possible, without beautifying elements in the mix or concealing them. Besides their highly defined sound, openness and their three-dimen- sio nal spatial imaging, all ADAM monitors share the same unique precision in the higher frequency range. This becomes immediately apparent with highly transient, dynamic audio material in particular. Final finish for the X-ART tweeter
X-ART Technology The X-ART tweeters and midrange drivers establish a new direction concerning the kinematics of moving air that dramatically improves the quality of audio reproduction. The X-ART membrane consists of a pleated diaphragm in which the folds compress or expand according to the audio signal applied to them (see figure 1 and 2). The ADAM X-ART design overcomes the piston-like motion of all conventional drivers and their inevitable problems by achieving an improvement in air loading by a factor of 4 over conventional transducers. To illustrate the basic principle using a comparison: When you breathe, your thorax is moving slowly whereas the air is moving comparably faster. Similarly, the X-ART diaphragm presses the air faster in or out of its folds than they themselves are moving. More area = higher Dynamic Response The unfolded X-ART diaphragm is significantly larger, although the sound opening of the X-ART tweeter is very similar to that of a 1inch cone tweeter (see figure 3). With piston-like designs, the visible diaphragm opening is always the acousti - cally active area. By folding the X-ART diaphragm into the third dimension (as seen from the listener ‘s position) we can use a larger foil, allowing an increase in the ratio to 2.5:1. This means the acoustically active area is 2.5 times larger than the visible sound opening of the X-ART tweeter. Elaborate Handwork The considerable effort that is put into the manufacture of one X-ART transducer, which takes approximately 30 minutes of hand time, pays off in the end. This is the only way we can ensure the best possible reproduction of high frequencies. And the only way we can guarantee our claim that ADAM speaker systems are the best tools in professional monitoring today. The interaction of committed research and development and all our manufacturing procedures in Berlin with continuous quality management ensures that our products will maintain the highest quality standards. “The X-ART tweeter played so easy, airy and freely that it was a pleasure listening to it.” Fidelity “The briskness that comes out of these speakers is very exciting. The X-ART tweeter with its extended high frequency range does a perfect \ job here.” Recording “The X-ART tweeter speaks so clearly it’s almost startling.” Recording Magazin “The extended range of the new tweeter allows the top end to sound more open and airy without adding harshness, so vocals come across in a very natural way.” Sound on Sound “The Adam-typical X-ART tweeter, famous for its precise reproductioncapabilities, takes care of the treble range.” Audio “We are able to hear that clarity in the high frequency range, characteriz\ ed by the highly defined sound and the superior impulse behaviour of the X-ART tweeter.” Professional Audio “The new X-ART tweeter is a perfect balance in what is an excellent piece\ of craftsmanship.” Audio Media “At the risk of repetition it has to be stated here again: The tweeter is\ truly wonderful.” Sound & Recording ADAM Audio GmbH GERMANY phone: +49 30-863 00 97-0 fax: +49 30-863 00 97-7 email: [email protected] ADAM Audio UK Ltd. email: [email protected] ADAM Audio USA Inc. email: [email protected] ADAM Audio China email: [email protected] www.adam-audio.com
