41 English 3 Partial, scrolling or incorrectly displayed image (For notebooks)•Press RESYNC on the control panel or remote control. •For an incorrectly displayed image:•Follow the steps for item 2 (above) to adjust the resolution of your computer. •Press the toggle output settings. Example: [Fn]+[F4], Compaq [Fn]+[F4], Dell [Fn]+[F8], Gateway [Fn]+[F4], IBM [Fn]+[F7], HP [Fn]+[F4], NEC [Fn]+[F3], Toshiba [Fn]+[F5] •If you experience difficulty changing resolutions or your monitor freezes, restart all equipment including the projector. 4 The screen of the notebook computer is not displaying your presentation •If you are using a Microsoft® Windows® based notebook: Some notebook PCs may deactivate their own screens when a second display device is in use. Each has a different way to be reactivated. Refer to your computers manual for detailed information. •If you are using an Apple® Mac® OS based notebook: In System Preferences, open Display and select Video Mirroring On. 5 Image is unstable or flickering •Use Tracking to correct it. Refer to the Image section for more information. •Change the display color setting on your computer. 6 Image has vertical flickering bar •Use Frequency to make an adjustment. Refer to the Image section for more information. •Check and reconfigure the display mode of your graphics card to make it compatible with the projector. 7 Image is out of focus •Adjust the focus ring on the projector lens. •Make sure the projection screen is within the required distance: 4.9 to 19.7 feet (1.5 to 6 meters) Refer to the How to Get a Preferred Image Size by Adjusting Distance and Zoom section for more information. 8 Image is stretched when displaying a widescreen DVD titleWhen you play a DVD encoded in anamorphic or 16:9 aspect ratio you may need to adjust the following settings: •If you play a 4:3 format DVD title, please change the format to 4:3 with the projector OSD. •If the image is still stretched, you will also need to adjust the aspect ratio. Set up the display format to 16:9 (wide) aspect ratio on your DVD player.
42 English Problems with the Projector 9 Image is too small or too large•Adjust the zoom lever on the top of the projector. •Move the projector closer to or further from the screen. •Press MENU on the control panel or remote control. Go to Image > Aspect Ratio and try different settings. 10 Image has slanted sides •If possible, reposition the projector so that it is centered on the screen and below the bottom of the screen. •Press the Keystone correction keys on the control panel or remote control until the image becomes square. •Press MENU on the control panel or remote control to open the OSD menu. Go to Image > Auto Keystone (X1140A/X1240/X1340W/P1340W/ X1340WH/P1340WG) or Image > Keystone (X111/X1140/X111P/H6510BD/P1500) to make adjustments. 11 Image is reversed •Select Image > Projection Mode (X1140A/X1240/ X1340W/P1340W/X1340WH/P1340WG), Image > Projection Location (X1140A/X1240/X1340W/ P1340W/X1340WH/P1340WG) on the OSD and adjust the projection direction. # Condition Solution 1 The projector stops responding to all controlsIf possible, turn off the projector, then unplug the power cord and wait at least 30 seconds before reconnecting power. 2 Lamp burns out or makes a popping soundWhen the lamp reaches the end of its useful life, it will burn out and may make a loud popping sound. If this happens, the projector will not turn on until the lamp module has been replaced. To replace the lamp, follow the procedures in the Replacing the Lamp section.

Projector Overheated - the projector has exceeded its recommended operating temperature and must be allowed to cool down before it is used. Please also check the dust filters if they are installed. If the dust filter is clogged with dust, please clean it. Replace the lamp - the lamp is about to reach its maximum lifetime. Prepare to replace it soon. Fan Fail. Lamp will automatically turn off soon. Projector Overheated. Lamp will automatically turn off soon. Lamp is approaching the end of its useful life in full power operation. Replacement suggested!

45 EnglishReplacing the Lamp Use a screwdriver to remove the screw(s) from the cover, and then pull out the lamp. The projector will detect the lamp life itself. It will show you a warning message Lamp is approaching the end of its useful life in full power operation. Replacement Suggested! When you see this message, change the lamp as soon as possible. Make sure the projector has been cooled down for at least 45 minutes before changing the lamp. Warning: Lamp compartment is hot! Allow it to cool down before changing lamp! To remove the lamp: Turn the projector off by pressing (POWER). Allow the projector at least 45 minutes to cool down. Disconnect the power cord. 1 Use a screwdriver to remove the screw from the cover. (Illustration #1) 2 Push up and remove the cover. 3 Remove the lamp protection film (Illustration #2). 4 Remove the screw that secures the lamp module (Illustration #3). 5 Disconnect the lamp connector from the projector. Lift the handle so that it stands up. Pull out the lamp module by force (Illustration #4). To replace the lamp module, use a new lamp and reverse the above steps (Illustrations # - # ). Warning: To reduce the risk of personal injury, do not drop the lamp module or touch the lamp bulb. The bulb may shatter and cause injury if it is dropped. 1 8 8 6 54 31 2 2 1 27 58
46 English Ceiling Mount Installation If you wish to install the projector using a ceiling mount, please refer to the steps below: 1 Drill four holes into a solid, structurally sound part of the ceiling, and secure the mount base. Note: Screws are not included.
