31 Note: You must activate a Google account before using Google Play. The first time you access Google Play, you will need to read and accept the Terms of Service. Ta p Play Store from the Application menu to open the Google Play. Here you can obtain a variety of add-on programs and applic ations to enhance the functionality of your smartphone. Note: The contents and design of Google Play varies by region. For example, in some regions, you can also browse for and purchase movies, books, magazines, or music. Updates may add new categories or change how to navigate Google Play at any time. You can browse the store by category or tap the search icon to search for a specific application. Once you have selected an application, tap the Install button to download and install the application. You will be told which se rvices (contact information, wireless access, GPS, etc.) the application requires access in order to function correctly. If none of these services seem unusual, tap Accept & download to proceed with the installation.
32 You may keep track of the download progress from both the app’s page and the smartphone’s . Important: Some applications may require payment before you can download them. You will need to have a Google Che ckout account in order to pay for these applications, or a credit card number associated with your Google account. Using downloaded applications Once you’ve downloaded and installed an application, you may find it in the APPS or WIDGETS sections of the Application menu. Certain applications provide both an App and wi dget, or only provide a widget (with no application icon). See Personalizing the Home screen on page 14. Uninstalling down loaded applications Once you’ve downloaded and installed an application, you may uninstall the application from the Application menu by pr essing and holding the application icon and dragging it to the Uninstall trash can located at the top-left of the Home screen. Note: Deleting an app from the Home screen only deletes the shortcut. See Adding and removing shortcuts and widgets on page 14. Alternatively, you can go to Settings from the application menu and select Apps. Tap the application you wish to uninstall, tap Uninstall and confirm. Maps, Navigation, Places and Latitude Get easy-to-follow directions using Google Maps, view real-time traffic condition and navigate by using spoken, turn-by-turn dr iving instructions with Navigation, view where your friends are and places of in terest and local businesses on Google Maps using Places and Latitude. Important : Maps does not have information about every location.
33 Using the map Tap the Maps icon in the applications menu. Drag the map with your finger to move the map around. To zoom in or out: 1. Double tap a location on the map to zoom in on the location, and tap once to zoom out, or 2. Touch an area with two fingers at once and spread them apart to zoom in, and pinch them together to zoom out. Important: Not all zoom levels are available for all locations.
34 AcerCloud setup AcerCloud is a personal cloud service that allows you to access your files over the Internet, and make sure your most important files are always up to date. With your personal cloud all your devices (PC, ta blet, phone) with AcerCloud installed can access files on your main Cloud PC. Open the Application menu and tap AcerCloud . For more information please visit the AcerCloud website: www.acer.com/acercloud Note: To access files on other devices, your Cloud PC must be on and connected to the Internet. If your PC has Always Connect, your PC may be in Sleep mode, but must be connected to a power supply (not battery power). AcerCloud setup for Windows To install AcerCloud on a PC without AcerCloud, you can download the AcerCloud setup program from the AcerCloud website ( https://www.cloud.acer.com/ops/ downloads) and select AcerCloud Installer in the Windows part. After download, double-click on the installer and follow the instructions to install AcerCloud. Note : AcerCloud is designed for Windows 7 and Windows 8. It is not compatible with older Windows Operating Systems or MAC OS X.
35 Install AcerCloud Double-click on the AcerCloud icon, then double-click on AcerCloudSetup. Follow the instructions to install AcerCloud. Sign in using your Acer ID Start the AcerCloud program from the desktop or Start Menu. If you already have an Acer ID, use your email address and password to sign in to yo ur AcerCloud account. Create an AcerCloud ID If you do not have an AcerCloud ID, you first need to sign up for an AcerCloud account, which you can do from your smartphone. Open the Application menu, tap AcerCloud , then tap New to AcerCloud , and enter the requested information Make a note of the email address and password you used for your Acer Cloud ID. You must use this information to sign in to the AcerCloud service from each follow the instructions to register a new Acer ID. After entering the information, tap Next to apply for an Acer ID. Check your email account for an Acer ID activation message and click on the link in the email to activate your Acer ID device.
36 AcerCloud options When you install AcerCloud, you have several options. Select the options that are useful on your PC and click Next to complete the setup: PicStream - Take holiday snapshots on your smartphone and share them with other smart devices. Photos will be backed up permanently on your Cloud PC (see below), and temporarily accessible for 30 days in your personal cloud and on other devices. Make this PC the Cloud PC - You must define one (and only one) PC as your Cloud PC. Copies of all content added to your personal cloud (e.g. with PicStream) will be transfered to your Cloud PC, and cont ent on this PC will be available to your other AcerCloud devices. Important: If you already have a Cloud PC, do NOT select this option. Your Cloud PC must be connected to the Internet and have sufficient storage for all your media content. AcerCloud Docs Upload - When you update and save a document on your PC, the document will be put into the personal cloud and streamed to other devices. Documents will be temporarily accessible for 30 days in your personal cloud. You can download documents to other devices for long-term storage. Note: If AcerCloud Docs Upload is not avail able, click on the AcerCloud icon in the notification area (the botto m-right corner of the Windows desktop) and select Check for updates to install AcerCloud Docs. Note: You can access and change these Ac erCloud settings from the AcerCloud icon in the Notifi cation area (the bottom-right cor ner of the Windows desktop). Click on the AcerCloud icon, then select Open AcerCloud to see the settings window.
37 Using the Camera Your smartphone features two digital cameras mounted on the front and on the rear. This section will take you through all the steps in taking photos and videos with your smartphone. To activate the camera, tap Camer a on the Home screen, or open the Applications menu and tap Camera. Tap the area of the image you want to be the point of focus for the auto-focus lens (only available on the rear camera). Pinch the image to zoom in or out. Ta p to take a picture. 38 Settings menus General You may adjust the following: • Turn GPS info on or off: Stores GPS information in the image information. •Exposure: Over- or under-exposes the image. •Color effect: Applies a color effect to the image. •Scene mode: Adjust photo parameters for a particular environment. •White balance: Compensate for different lighting environments. •Image properties: Adjust the Sharpness, Hue, Saturation, Brightness, and Contrast. •Anti-flicker: Turn the anti-flicker on or off, or select Auto. Note: Some of the settings above are not available on the front camera. 39 •Continuous shot : Set the maximum number of photos taken in a single burst. • Pictu re size : Set the picture resolution. • Pr eview size : Set the preview image ratio. • ISO : Set the ISO value. Camcorder You may adjust the following: • Turn EIS (Electro nic Image Stabilization) on or off. • Turn the Mic rophone on or off. • Set the Au dio mode. • Set the T ime lapse interval . • Apply an Effect to the video. • Set the V ideo quality . Scene modes Along the right-hand side of the screen are various mode settings, scroll up or down to view and select the desired mode setting. Tap an icon to select it. Settings available are: Taking a photo 1. Ensure you have adjusted the settings described above. 2. Frame your subject and stea dy your smartphone. 3. Zoom in or out as needed. 4. Tap to take a picture. Taking a panoramic photo Panoramic mode allows you to take a series of up to nine photos that the camera application will ‘stitch’ together to make a single extended image. 1. To take a panoramic photo, select panoramic capture mode. 2. Align the camera to take a photo of one en d of the panoramic scene (the furthest left, right, top or bottom). 3. Press the camera button to take the first i mage; then smoothly turn the camera to the left or right to take the next image of the scene. • A blue dot shows the center of the next ima ge; move the camera so the dot is in the center of the screen; your smart phone will then automatically capture an image and select the center of the next section of the image. 40 Note: If your photo needs fewer than nine images, tap the tick icon to stop the selection process and process the captured images. The camera application will process the images and save a single extended image to your smartphone’s gallery. Note: Panoramic images work best with static outdoor scenes. Objects to close to the camera or large straight edges may confuse the detection process. Shooting a video Note: You do not need to select Camcorder to record video 1. Frame your subject and steady your sm artphone and zoom in or out as needed. 2. Tap to start taking a video. The icon will turn red to indicate that recording is in progress. Tap the icon again to stop recording. Supported formats Viewing photos and videos After you have taken your photo or video, it is automatically saved. Once you have taken a photo or video, you can view it in Gallery by tapping the thumbnail in the lower-right corner. Alternatively, open the Applications menu and tap Gallery . From Gallery you can share the file directly using various services. Note: Share options vary depending on the file type. You may also edit photos you have taken by tapping the icon in the lower left- hand corner. Geotagging Geotagging allows you to store the location where a photo or videa was taken right in the photo or video itself. For the geotag to display, pictures must be taken with GPS Info turned on.
