11 INSTALLATION POWERING ON THE PROJECTOR Remove the lens cap. Ensure that the power cord and signal cables are securely connected. Turn on the lamp by pressing “Power/Standby” button on the control panel. The startup screen will be displayed for 20 seconds and the Power/Standby indicator will light solid green. Turn on the source (computer, notebook, or video player, etc.) The projector will detect your source automatically. •If the projector displays “No Signal,” please make sure the signal cables are securely connected. •If connecting multiple sources at the same time, use the “Source” button on the Remote Control or projector control panel to select the desired input. Press the “Source” button repeatedly until the desired input is displayed. •Turn on the projector first and then the computer 1 2 3 4 Power / Standby3 Turn on the projector first and then the computer. If the screen displays “No Signal”, please ensure the signal cables are securely connected. If you connect multiple sources at the same time, use the “Source” button on the Remote Control or Panel Control to switch.
12 INSTALLATION POWERING OFF THE PROJECTOR Press the “Power/Standby” button to turn off the projector lamp. The projector will display the message “Power off the lamp?” Press the “Power/Standby” button again to confirm. Otherwise the message will disappear after 5 seconds. “Power/Standby” indicator will turn green for approximatly 90 seconds. When the green light begins flashing, the projector has entered standby mode. If you wish to turn the projector back on, you must wait until the projector has completed the 90 secs cooling cycle and has entered standby mode. Once in standby mode, simply press the “Power/Standby” button to restart the projector Disconnect the power cord from the electrical outlet and the projector. Do not turn on the projector immediately following a power off procedure.1 2 3 4 5 If the “TEMP” indicator turns red it indicates the projector has overheated. The projector will display “Over Temperature. After a short period the“Power/Standby” indicator will turn green and the projector will automatically shut itself down. If this occurs please contact your local reseller or service center. If the “LAMP” indicator turns red and the “Power/Standby” indicator turns amber the projector will automatically shut itself down. If this occurs please contact your local reseller or service center. If the “TEMP” indicator begins flashing the projector will display “Fan Fail” warning. After a short period the “Power/Standby” indicator will flash green for about 90 seconds and the projector will automatically shut itself down. If this occurs please contact your local reseller or service center.
The projector is equipped with an elevator foot for adjusting the projector height. Raise the projector to the desired display angle, then release the button to lock the elevator foot into position. Use the Height Adjuster Button to fine-tune height adjustment.1 Press the Elevator Button. Lower the projector, then release the button to lock the elevator foot into position. 16 USER CONTROLS Multi-Directional Selector ■These keys are used to control the direction operation on the OSD display. Page Up (Computer Mode only) ■Use this button to page up. This function is only available when the projector is connected to a computer via a USB cable. Page Down (Computer mode only) ■Use this button to page down. This function is only available when the projector is connected to a computer via a USB cable. Menu ■Press “Menu” to open the OSD menu and press key to select menu items. To exit the OSD, press the “Menu” button again. The projector will automatically save any changes made. Freeze ■Press the “Freeze” button to pause the screen image Ke K e ystone + / - ■Adjusts image distortion caused by tilting the projector. (± 16 degrees) Zoom In ■Press “Zoom In” to magnify an image by a factor of eight times on the projection screen. Zoom Out ■Press the “-” zoom button to zoom out of the image. The smallest setting available is 1/2-size Resync ■ When the “Resync” button is pressed, the projector will automatically synchronize with the source signal. Hide ■ Pressing the “Hide” button, will turn the entire screen black, a useful function for speakers who require a short pause in order to change their presentation materials. Use the Remote Control Power/Standby ■ Refer to the ‘Power On/Off the Projector” section on pages 12. Source ■ Press “Source” to cycle through VGA, S-Video, Composite and Component sources. Re-Sync ■ Automatically synchronizes the projector to the input source. Four Directional Select Keys ■ Use to select items or make adjustments for your selection. Enter ■ Confirm your selection of items. ■ Press “Menu” to open the OSD menu and press key to select menu items. To exit the OSD, press the “Menu” button again. The projector will automatically save any changes made.
17 USER CONTROLS ON-SCREEN DISPLAY MENUS How to Operate ■The projector has multilingual OSD menus that allow you to make image adjustments and change a variety of settings. With a computer source, the OSD displayed is the “Computer OSD”. With a video source, the OSD display is the “Video OSD” The projector will automatically detect the source. ■To open the OSD menu, press the “Menu” button on the remote control or panel control. ■When the OSD is displayed, press key to select main items. E.g.: Image-I >Image-II>Language>Management>Image-I... While making selection on a particular page, press key to go into sub-menu. ■Press key to select the required item and adjust the settings by key. When a specified item is selected, the colour of the item will change from yellowish brown to blue. E.g.: Brightness >Contrast>Colour Temp. >Zoom>Keystone>White Segment > Brightness... ■When using the keys to adjust parameters or select required sub menu functions, confirm selections/modifications by pressing the “Enter” button. Pressing the “Enter” button to confirm a selection/modification will revert the OSD back to the main menu. Only the keys are enabled now. ■To exit the OSD, press the button again.
18 USER CONTROLS Computer Mode IMAGE-I (COMPUTER MODE) Brightness Adjusting the brightness of the image. ■Press the key to darken the image. ■Press the key to lighten the image. Contrast The contrast controls the degree of difference between the lightest and darkest parts of the picture. Adjusting the contrast changes the amount of black and white in the image. ■Press the key to decrease the contrast. ■Press the key to increase the contrast. Colour Temperature Adjust the colour temperature. The range is from “0”to “4” The factory default is “2”. With the higher temperature, the screen looks colder; with the lower temperature, the screen looks warmer. Zoom ■Press the to magnify an image up to a factor of eight times on the projection screen. ■Press the to Diminish the zoom in image. Lowest available setting is 1/2-size. Keystone (Keystone Correction) Adjust image distortion caused by tilting projection. (±16 degrees) White Segment Use the white segment control to set the white peaking level of the DMD chip.”0” stands for minimal peaking, and “10” stands for maximum peaking. If you prefer a stronger image, adjust toward the minimum setting. For a smooth and more natural image, adjust toward the minimum setting.
19 USER CONTROLS Video Mode IMAGE-I (VIDEO MODE) Brightness Adjusting the brightness of the image. ■Press the key to darken the image. ■Press the key to lighten the image. Contrast The contrast controls the degree of difference between the lightest and darkest parts of the picture. Colour The colour setting adjusts a video image from black and white to fully saturated colour. ■Press the key to decrease the amount of colour in an image. ■Press the key to increase the amount of colour in an image. Tint The tint adjusts the colour balance of red and green. ■Press the key to increase the amount of green in the image. ■Press the key to increase the amount of red in the image. Sharpness Adjusting the sharpness of the image. ■Press the key to decrease the sharpness. ■Press the key to increase the sharpness. White Segment Use the white segment control to set the white peaking level of DMD chip. “0” stands for minimal peaking, and “10” stands for maximum peaking. If you prefer a stronger image, adjust toward the maximum setting. For a smooth, more natural image, adjust toward the minimum setting.
20 USER CONTROLS Computer Mode IMAGE-II (COMPUTER MODE) Frequency “Frequency” is for changing the display data frequency to match the frequency of your computer’s graphic card. When you experience a vertical flickering bar, use this function to make an adjustment. Tracking Choose “Tracking” item to synchronise the signal timing of the display with that of the graphic card. When you experience an unstable or flickering image, use this function to correct it. Aspect Ratio You can use this function to fit your desired aspect ratio. Horizontal Position ■Press the to move the image left. ■Press the to move the image right. Vertical Position ■Press the to move the image up. ■Press the to move the image down. Reset Choose “Yes” to return the display parameters back to the factory default.Reset: Reset select includes both Image-I and Image-II settings
