UltraAV 4x4 HDMI 1.3 Audio/Video Matrix Switch ® Thank you for purchasing the UltraAV® 4x4 HDMI 1.3 Audio/Video Matrix Switch. This HDMI matrix switch is designed to select and transmit an audio and video signal from any 4 inputs to any 4 displays. Features: Includes: • 4X4 HDMI 1.3 matrix switch • Infrared (IR) extender • IR remote control (with battery) • Power adapter • Instruction manual with warranty • Supported resolution up to 1080p • Built-in signal repeater (see Built-in Repeater below) • HDMI 1.3 High-Speed compliant up to 6.75Gbps (225MHz) • RS-232 Interface and mini-USB port • Fully compatible with HDCP compliant devices Infrared Extender: In order to operate the HDMI switch with the infrared remote control, the front of the matrix must be in the line-of-sight to the remote control. If the matrix is placed out-of-sight then the IR extender should be used. Plug the extender into the port labeled “Remote CNTL” on the rear of the matrix and place the end of the IR extender in a visible location to the remote control. Built-in Repeater: The UltraAV 4x4 HDMI 1.3 Matrix Switch has a built-in signal repeater that supports up to a 50’ cable length between each A/V source and the switch and 16’ (5m) between the switch and each video display. For longer cable runs between the switch and the displays, use a high quality, heavy gauge cable or an amplified “UltraRun” HDMI cable. How to Connect the HDMI Matrix Switch (please follow the steps in the order described): Step 1: Insert the included power adapter into the power jack labeled “DC Input 5.3V” located on the rear of the HDMI matrix switch. Plug the adapter into an active power outlet. Turn the Main Power on the rear of the switch to the Off position. The vertical line (l) is the On position and Off position is the circle (O). Step 2: Connect the HDMI cables from each of the A/V sources into the inputs starting with “Input A” located on the rear of the HDMI matrix switch. Step 3: Connect the HDMI cables from each of the TV’s into the ports starting with “Output 1” on the rear of the switch. Step 4: Turn “On” the power of each of the A/V sources and each of the di\ splays. Step 5: If locating the switch in an out-of-sight location, use the IR extender. See Infrared Extender above. Step 6: Turn the Main Power on the rear of the switch to the On (l) position. How to Operate the HDMI Switch: 1. Push the On or Off button on the discrete remote control to turn the switch on or off (standby mode). Alternatively the Standby/On button on the front of the switch can be used. Standby is a power saving mode, however when in standby mode the switch is not off. It is alert and still able to respond to the remote controls On button. The illumined Green LED indicates the matrix switch is on. The Illuminated Red LED indicates the matrix switch is in standby mode. 2. The Main Power switch located on the rear of the HDMI matrix switch cuts off all power leading into the matrix switch. The Main Power is not controlled by the remote control and must be operated manually. 3. With the switch on, use the remote control to select the display (Output) using the 1, 2, 3 or 4 buttons. Then select the desired video source (Input) by pressing the letter A, B, C or D. The unlabeled buttons down the center of the remote are not functional. The round thumb toggle serves a similar function allowing the selection of the desired Output and the circular arrow providing scrolling selection of the video Inputs. Alternatively, a Select button on the face of the matrix is provided for each of the displays. Press the select button of the desired display to switch between video sources. Remote Control: The remote control uses 2 AA batteries (included). Remove the cover on the back of the remote and insert the batteries. The Matrix is pre-configured to operate with the remote control in “Remote 1” mode. Press “Remote 1” if the remote does not operate the matrix. See Multiple Matrix Support below for more information on Remote modes. Mini USB Port: On the rear of the switch there is a Mini-USB port labeled Firmware Access. This port is used to access and update the switch’s firmware using a PC and a mini-USB cable (not included). If the switch is not operating properly, a firmware update may be available. Go to our Web site at www.accellcables.com/support. If the switch is operating properly, do not update the firmware. A firmware update will not further improve the performance of the switch. Multiple Matrix Support: If multiple matrixes are being used in the same location or if remote controls from other devices are creating a conflict, the matrix remote codes can be updated via the mini USB port. Two additional sets of remote codes are available for download from the Accell Web site. The Matrix is pre-configured to operate with “Remote 1” on the remote control. If control codes “Remote 2” or “Remote 3” are downloaded, press the corresponding button on the remote for it to function with the new remote codes.
