Technical Documentation IF-DA8 TA SCAMs IF-DA8 is an eight channel TDIF to Analog con verter .Two TDIF ports are pro vided on the IF-DA8. The dual port designallows the box to act as either the end of a chain, pro viding an analog output to a TDIF line, or it can be connected between two TDIF devices, allowing them to communicate to each other freely , yet split off an analog cop y of one devices signal. The IF-DA8 was built with extremely high qualit y converters for the best sound qualit y possible, and offers multiple 0dB reference lev els for optimal interconnecting with virtually any equipment. A separate word sync in and thru are pro vided for integration with larger digital chains with centr al clock distributors. 7733 T elegraph R oad • Montebello , CA 90640 • (323) 726-0303 • http://www .tascam.comAll features and specifications are subject to change without notice. C\ ontact y our local TASCAM representativ e for the latest information. The IF-DA8 is a high qualit y digital format converter from TDIF to analog,so an y number of applications can be imagined. Howev er, the two primaryapplications are listed below . Surround Sound Monitoring of a Digital Console In just surround mixing is handled on the mix ers busses. The only place the busses come out of the digital console is the multitr ack I/O slot. So, tohear the surround mix, a multitr ack I/O (and a multitrack) would have tobe dedicated to con verting the digital multitr ack I/O to analog for monitoring purposes... unless y ou have an IF-DA8. The IF-DA8and multitr ack, so you maintain y our full track count. The IF-DA8 willsplit off the buss send from the console and con vert it to analog on the XLRjacks. The IF-DA8 sa ves the tr ack count, and supplies the high qualit y D/A in an affordable package. Integration of an Analog Recorder into a Digital Mixer Users who are trying to maintain their analog recorders in their studios\ want to tak e advantage of a digital consoles total recall and automationpower can use an IF-DA8 to con vert buss and multitr ack sends to analog for the recorder. Just add your favorite A/D bo x (such as an MA -AD8) andthe system is ready to go .
