114Chapter3Exchanging and updating data using a HotSync® operation
    What is a HotSync® operation?
A HotSync® operation is a one-step operation that allows you to synchronize
data between your CLIE handheld and your computer. With just one press
on the HotSync button, you can synchronize your CLIE handheld
application data with the Palm™ Desktop for CLIE software data on your
computer, back up the data of your CLIE handheld on your computer, or
    install add-on applications.
HotSync operation allows you to do the following:
1Synchronize the Date Book, the Address Book, the To Do List, the Memo
Pad, and the Expense data on your CLIE handheld and your computer.
The Palm Desktop for CLIE software can manage the data of multiple
    CLIE handhelds independently.
2Back up the data stored on your CLIE handheld onto your computer.
Synchronization ensures that your data is always safe and up-to-date. In
case you need to perform a hard reset, a HotSync operation allows you
    to restore the data.
3Import the data on your computer or install add-on applications onto
    your CLIE handheld.

complete. Otherwise the Palm Desktop for CLIE software may not quit normally.

icon is displayed in the Windows task tray on your
