76Screen Mirroring Share Your Device’s Screen with Another Device. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Screen Mirroring. • Available devices are listed. 2. T ap SCAN to find more devices. 3. T ap a device and follow the prompts to connect. Screen Mirroring Settings
77Sounds and Notifications Configure the sounds and vibrations used to indicate notifications, screen touches, and other activities. Adjust the Volume Set the system volume level, and set default volume for call ringtones, notifications, and other media. Tip: You can also set System volume from the Home screen by pressing the Volume key. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. T ap Sounds and notifications, and then drag the sliders to set the default volume for: • Ringtone • Media • Notifications • System Sound Mode You can switch between sound modes, while preserving the individual sound settings you have made. Tip: Sound modes are also available from the Device options menu. Press and hold the Power key, and then choose Mute, Vibrate, or Sound from the Device options. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. T ap Sounds and notifications > Interruptions > Sound mode, and then choose a mode: • Sound: Your device uses the sounds, vibrations, and volume levels you have chosen in Sound settings for notifications and alerts. • Vibrate: Your device vibrates for notifications and alerts. This uses the Vibration intensity you choose in Sound settings. • Mute: Your device plays no sounds or vibrations. Onscreen reminders will still occur. Vibrate When Ringing Your device can vibrate in addition to ringing when you receive a call. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. 78Sounds and Notifications Ringtones Choose from preset ringtones or add your own. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. T ap Sounds and notifications > Ringtones. 3. T ap a ringtone to hear a preview, and then tap OK to set it as your default ringtone. – or – Tap ADD to use an audio file as a ringtone. Vibrations Choose from preset vibration patterns or create your own pattern. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. T ap Sounds and notifications > Vibrations. 3. T ap a pattern to preview it, and then tap OK to set it as your default vibration pattern. – or – Tap CR E ATE and follow the prompts to create a new vibration pattern. Notification Ringtone Choose a sound for notifications, such as for new messages and event reminders. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. T ap Sounds and notifications > Notification ringtone. 3. T ap a sound to preview it, and then tap OK to set it as your default notification sound. Other Sounds Set various other sound options. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. T ap Sounds and notifications > Other sounds. 3. T ap the checkbox next to the options under Feedback and Samsung keyboard to indicate whether to enable the sound or vibration. 4. T o modify sound settings associated with several frequently used apps, tap one of the following to access the app’s sound settings: • Call: Configure call notifications and alerts. • Messages : Configure messaging notifications and alerts. • Email: Configure email account notifications. • Calendar: Configure event notifications. Do Not Disturb This setting allows you to block all notifications and alerts. The options below determine what notifications can make sounds, and during what time periods you want to enter this mode. To activate Do Not Disturb mode: 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. T ap Sounds and notifications > Do not disturb. 3. T ap Turn on now to turn the feature on. 4. T ap Turn on as scheduled and then tap Days , Start time, and End time to set up a do not disturb schedule. 5. T ap Allow Exceptions to allow alarms, calls, messages, or events and reminders. 79Sounds and Notifications Notifications on Lock Screen To define how notifications should be displayed on your phone’s lock screen: 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. T ap Sounds and notifications > Notifications on lock screen and select an option: Show all content, Hide content, or Do not show notifications. Set Application Notifications To set whether application notifications are displayed: 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. T ap Sounds and notifications > Application notifications. 3. S croll through the alphabetical list of apps and tap the app. 4. T ap ON/OFF to enable or disable notification options. Settings
80Display Settings Adjust display options and features, including screen brightness, font options, and more. Brightness Adjust the screen brightness to suit your surroundings or personal preference. You may also want to adjust screen brightness to conserve battery power. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Display. 2. Ta p Brightness for options: • Tap Automatic brightness to allow the device to adjust brightness automatically. • To set a custom brightness level, clear the Automatic brightness checkmark and then touch and drag the Brightness level. Note : You can also control Brightness from the Notification panel. Drag down the Status bar at the top of the screen to find the Brightness options. Font Style and Size You can set the font style and size for all text that displays on the screen. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Display. 2. T ap Font to choose a font style and font size. 3. T ap Font style > DOWNLOAD to find new fonts from the Google Play store. 4. T ap Font size and tap a font size. Screen Rotation Use the front camera to rotate the screen based on the orientation of your face. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Display. 2. T ap Screen rotation. 3. T a p ON/OFF, and then tap Smart rotation to turn the feature on. Smart Stay Using the front camera to detect your face, the screen does not time out as long as you are facing the screen. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Display. 2. T ap Smart stay to turn the feature on. Screen Timeout Choose how long the display screen remains lit after you tap the screen or press any key. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Display. 2. 81Display Settings Screen Mode Choose a screen mode to match your type of viewing. You can choose to have the device automatically adapt the display depending on the type of image being displayed, and other criteria such as battery level. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Display. 2. T ap Screen mode, and then choose a screen mode. • To have your device automatically optimize the display to match the type of image being displayed and other criteria, such as battery level, tap Adapt display. – or – Choose a specific type of screen mode based on what your are viewing. Auto Adjust Screen Tone Your device analyzes the images displayed on the screen and automatically adjust the brightness to conserve battery power. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Display. 2. T ap Auto adjust screen tone to turn the feature on. Note : You can also control Brightness from the Notification panel. Drag down the Status bar at the top of the screen to find the Brightness option. Daydream The Daydream setting controls what the screen displays when the device is docked (dock not included) , or while charging. You can choose to display colors, or display photos stored on your device. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Display. 2. T ap Daydream. 3. T ap ON/OFF to turn Daydream on and configure the following options: • Colors: Tap the selector to display a changing screen of colors. • Flipboard: Display pictures from Flipboard. Tap Settings for options. • Google Photos: Display pictures from your Google Photos account. Tap Settings for options. • Photo Table: Display pictures in a photo table. Tap Settings for options. • Photo frame: Display pictures in a photo frame. Tap Settings for options. 4. T ap More options > Preview to see a demonstration of Daydream. LED Indicator Select which functions (such as charging or low battery) the LED indicator on the front of the device displays. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Display. 2. 82Display Settings Touch Key Light Duration Set the length of time Recent apps and Back remain lit after you touch them. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Display. 2. T ap Touch key light duration to choose a timeout period. Increase Touch Sensitivity Increase the sensitivity of the touch screen to improve results when wearing gloves. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Display. 2. T ap Increase touch sensitivity to turn the feature on. Settings
83Wallpaper Settings Change the look of the home and lock screens with wallpaper. You can display a favorite picture or choose from preloaded wallpapers. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings. 2. T ap Wallpaper. 3. T ap Home screen, Lock screen, or Home and lock screen. 4. T ap an image to preview it, and then tap SET AS WALLPAPER. • Tap From Gallery for additional wallpapers. • Tap Bubbles or Phase beam for animated wallpaper. 84Lock Screen Choose a method for unlocking your screen. Different Screen Locks have different levels of security and options. Set a Screen Lock 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings. 2. T ap Lock Screen. 3. T ap Screen lock to select a screen lock and level of security: • Swipe: Swipe the screen to unlock it. This option provides no security. • Pattern : A screen unlock pattern is a tap gesture you create and use to unlock your device. This option provides medium security. • PIN : Select a PIN to use for unlocking the screen. This option provides medium to high security. • Password: Create a password for unlocking the screen. This option provides high security. • Fingerprint: Use fingerprint recognition to unlock the screen. This option provides medium to high security. For more information, see Finger Scanner . • None: Never use a Lock screen. Show or Hide Sensitive Notification Content After choosing a secure lock, you can select whether to show or hide sensitive notification content on the lock screen. 1. T ap Show all content, Hide sensitive content, or Do not show notifications. 2. T ap DONE. Screen Lock Options Swipe Only • Phone shortcut: Display a phone shortcut on your Lock screen. • Unlock effect: Set the visual effect used when unlocking the screen. • Help text: Show help information on unlocking the screen on the Lock screen. Pattern Only • Pattern type: Select a pattern type. • Make pattern visible: Display the pattern as your draw it. • Vibration feedback: Vibrate when the unlock pattern is entered incorrectly. PIN, Pattern, Password, and Fingerprint Only • Lock automatically: Screen will be locked in 5 seconds after screen automatically turns off. • Lock instantly with power key: Screen will lock instantly when locked with the power key. 85Lock Screen All Screen Locks • Dual clock: Display a dual clock on your Lock screen when roaming. • Clock size: Select the size of the clock that displays on your Lock screen. • Show date: Display the date on the Lock screen. • Camera shortcut: Display a camera shortcut on your Lock screen. • Owner Information: Show owner information on the Lock screen. • Additional information: Display Weather information or the step count when Pedometer in S Health is turned on.
