NoteThe text-in displays only in full screen. NoteMake sure that Text-In is turned On during OSD setup if you want to display the text-in information on the playback image (see OSD (On-Screen Display) Setup, page 58). Pressing the button again toggles the playback speed from WW , WWW, and WWWW. The screen displays WW , WWW, and WWWW respectively. NoteEntering Fast Backward Playback mode from Live Monitoring mode can be password protected. Right Arrow XPlay video forward at high speed. Pressing the button again toggles the playback speed from XX, XXX, and XXXX. The screen displays XX, XXX, and XXXX respectively. After selecting ENTER/PAUSE, press the Up arrow to advance to the next image. After selecting ENTER/PAUSE, press the Down arrow to review the previous image.
Operation Rev 3.03 84 Document 900.0315 02/07 Digital Zoom Playback Mode Press the PTZ button while in Playback mode to enter Digital Zoom Playback mode. The image pauses and a bright small box is laid over the image. This box indicates the spot to be enlarged. To enlarge that spot, move the position of the box using the Arrow buttons, and then press . The enlarged screen displays . Press PTZ again to release the Digital Zoom Playback mode and return to Playback mode. NoteYou cannot enter Digital Zoom Playback mode when the selected camera is set up as Cover 1 or Covert 2 and not played back. ENTER/PAUSEPause the video on the screen. The screen displays Camera Buttons 1 to 4Display that camera at full screen. QUAD/SEQChange the display format from full screen to quad (2x2) mode. NoteChanging the display format from quad (2x2) to full screen is not available. NoteWhen playing recorded video at maximum speed with very high image quality, playback of recorded audio may be occasionally interrupted. Shuttle RingThe Shuttle Ring only functions in Playback mode. Turn the ring clockwise to play video forward. Turn the ring counterclockwise to play video backward. Playback speed varies with the amount the ring is turned. The playback speeds are Wx0.5, WW, WWW, and WWWW, Xx0.5, X, XX, XXX, and XXXX. When you release the ring, it snaps back to the center position and the video pauses. Jog DialThe Jog Dial only functions when playback video has been paused. Turn the jog dial clockwise to play video forward image-by-image. Turn the jog dial counterclockwise to play video backward image-by-image. NoteWhen playing recorded video at maximum speed with very high image quality, playback of recorded audio may be interrupted occasionally. Calendar Search Figure 4-10 Calendar Search Screen 1. Days with recorded video display on the calendar with white numbers. You can highlight the days with recorded video by using the Arrow buttons. After you have highlighted a day, press to select it. 2. A time bar displays at the bottom of the calendar. Hours in which video was recorded will be highlighted with blue. Highlight the time bar and select the time using the left and right Arrow buttons. Time adjusts in 30 minute increments. 3. After you have set the date and time you want to search, highlight Go and then press . The selected date and time displays.

Event Search The DVR maintains a log of each time the Alarm Input port is activated. The Event Search screen displays this list. Figure 4-11 Event Log Screen 1. Use the Arrow buttons to highlight the event for which you would like to see video. 2. Press to extract the event video and display the first image of the event. 3. Press the Arrow buttons to start playing the event video segment. Press ENTER/PAUSE to pause the video. Press again to return to live monitoring. You can search video from the first to last recorded images, or you can set the start and stop times and dates. When you select Search by Camera, select the target cameras and event options. When you select Search by Event, select event options for each device. 3. After you set your desired search conditions, highlight Find and then press to display the search results in the Event Log screen. Select Cancel to exit the screen without saving the changes. If the Case Sensitive box is turned On, the DVR distinguishes between upper and lower case letters. 3. Highlight the Load Query box and press to load the saved Query settings. 4. Highlight the Save Query box and press to save the current Query settings. Enter the title for the current Query option using the virtual keyboard. 5. Highlight the Clear Query box and press to delete the current Query settings. 6. Highlight the Name box and enter the text to search using the virtual keyboard. 7. Highlight the Comp. box and enter the comparison operator using the virtual keyboard. 8. Highlight the Value box and enter the comparison value using the virtual keyboard. NoteThe Column and Line can be used for more specific search of the text-in data. Column indicates the location of each individual category, and Line indicates the line where the category is located. Change the number of Column and Line by highlighting it and using the Up and Down arrow buttons to increase and decrease the number.

After you set your desired search conditions, highlight Start and then press to display the search results in the Text-In Log screen. Select Close to exit this screen and return to the previous screen.
USB Hard Disk Drive Preparation Rev 3.03 91 Document 900.0315 02/07 A USB Hard Disk Drive Preparation This appendix covers how to prepare the USB-IDE hard disk drive for computers using either Windows 2000 or Windows 98 operating systems. Preparing the USB-IDE Hard Disk Drive In Windows 2000 NotePreparing a USB-IDE hard disk drive under Windows XP is almost identical to Windows 2000. 1. Connect the USB-IDE hard disk drive to your computer using the USB cable. 2. Turn on your computer. 3. The USB device icon should display on the Taskbar. 4. If the USB-IDE hard disk drive is partitioned or has data, it will show up in My Computer as a hard disk drive icon. Check the file system by right clicking on the icon and checking under Properties ➤ General ➤ File System. If the file system is not FAT32 format, format the USB-IDE hard disk drive using the FAT32 format. 5. If the USB-IDE hard disk drive is not partitioned, go to Administrative Tools in Control Panel and start Computer Management. Open Disk Management in Storage and right click an unallocated region of the USB-IDE hard disk drive. Then, click Create Partition. 6. In the Create Partition wizard, click Next, then Primary Partition, and follow the instructions on the screen. Make sure that FAT32 is selected for the file system.

After formatting is complete, the USB-IDE hard disk drive will be added to My Computer. 7. Connect the USB-IDE hard disk drive to the DVR. Preparing the USB-IDE Hard Disk Drive In Windows 98 NotePreparing a USB-IDE hard disk drive under Windows ME is almost identical to Windows 98. 1. Connect the USB-IDE hard disk drive to your computer using the USB Cable. 2. Turn on your computer. The Add New Hardware wizard window displays. 3. Install the device driver for the USB backup device following the instructions provided with your USB hard disk drive. 4. If the USB-IDE hard disk drive is partitioned or contains data, it will show up in My Computer as a hard disk drive icon. Check the file system in Properties ➤ General ➤ File System. If the file system is not FAT32 format, format the USB-IDE hard disk drive with FAT32 format. 5. Run the FDISK utility by clicking Start then Run. Type fdisk and then click OK. 6. At the MS-DOS command prompt, type Y and click Enter on the keyboard. 7. In the FDISK Option menu, select 5. Change current fixed disk drive. 8. Select the appropriate letter corresponding to the USB-IDE hard disk drive. 9. In the FDISK Option menu, select 1. Create DOS partition or Logical DOS Drive. 10. In the Create DOS Partition or Logical DOS Drive menu, select 1. Create Primary DOS Partition. Type Y to use all available space and click (enter). Click ESC to exit the screen after the USB-IDE hard disk drive partition is created. 11. Restart your computer and verify the newly created drive is in My Computer. 12. Right click the newly created hard disk drive icon and select Format. 13. In the Format Screen, select Full as the Format type and click Start. 14. After formatting is complete, connect the USB-IDE hard disk drive to the DVR.
