Enabling/Disabling Automatic Brightness Adjustment “Auto EcoView” The sensor on the front side of the monitor detects the environmental brightness to adjust the screen brightness automatically and comfortably by using the Auto EcoView function. Attention • Be careful not to block the sensor on the lower side of the monitor when using the Auto EcoView function. Procedure 1. C hoose “PowerManager” from the Adjustment menu, and press . 2. C hoose “Auto EcoView” from “PowerManager”, and press . 3. Se lect “On” or “Off ” with or . 4. P ress to exit. Note • For this reason, as “Brightness” in the Adjustment menu is changed, the auto adjustment range is also changed. 4- 4. Setting Power Indicator “Power Indicator” The brightness of the power indicator (blue) when the screen is displayed can be adjusted (default setting is set to light up when power is turned on, and brightness is set to 4). Procedure 1. C hoose “PowerManager” from the Adjustment menu, and press . 2. C hoose “Power Indicator” from “PowerManager”, and press . 3. Se lect the indicator brightness “Off ” or in the range from 1 to 7 with or as desired. 4. P ress to exit. 4-5. Setting the automatic power off function “Eco Timer” This function allows you to specify whether to turn on/off the monitor automatically after a specified time has elapsed in the power saving mode. Displaying the power saving ratio “EcoView Index” This indicator shows the power saving ratio, power reduction and CO2 reduction as a result of the brightness of the monitor. Procedure 1. C hoose “PowerManager” from the Adjustment menu, and press . 2. C hoose “EcoView Index” from “PowerManager”, and press . The “EcoView Index” appears. No picture • P ower indicator does not light.• C heck whether the power cord is connected properly. • T urn off the main power, and then turn it on again a f ew minutes later. • T urn the main power switch on. • Pr ess . • P ower indicator is lighting blue. • I ncrease “Brightness”, “Contrast”, and/or “Gain” in t he Adjustment menu (see “To perform advanced a djustments” (page 16)). • P ower indicator is lighting orange. • S witch the input signal with . • O perate the mouse or keyboard. • C heck whether the PC is turned on. • W hen the EcoView Sense sensor is set at a value f rom “Level-1 ”to “Level- 4”, the monitor may have s hifted to the power saving mode. Come near to the m onitor. • P ower indicator flashes orange and blue. • T here is a problem in the device that uses D isplayport / Mini DisplayPort connection. Solve t he problem, turn off the monitor, and then turn it on a gain. Refer to the User’s Manual of the device that u ses Displayport / Mini DisplayPort connection for d etails. 2. T he message below appears. This message appears when the signal is not input c orrectly even when the monitor functions properly. • T his message appears when no signal is i nput. Example: •The message shown left may appear, because some P Cs do not output the signal soon after power-on. • C heck whether the PC is turned on. • C heck w hether t he s ignal c able i s c onnected p roperly. • S witch the input signal with .

(The LCD monitor backlight has a l imited life span. When the screen becomes dark or b egins to flicker, contact your local dealer.) • T urn on the “Auto EcoView” function in the Adjustment m enu. The monitor detects the environmental b rightness to adjust the screen brightness a utomatically (see “4-3. Enabling/Disabling Automatic B rightness Adjustment “Auto EcoView”” (page 31)). 2. C haracters are blurred. • C heck whether the PC is configured to meet the r esolution and vertical scan frequency requirements o f the monitor (see “2-1. Compatible Resolutions” (p age 13)). • U se “Outline Enhancer” in the Adjustment menu to a djust it (see “To enhance outline of image “Outline E nhancer”” (page 19)). 3. A fterimages appear. • A fterimages are particular to LCD monitors. Avoid d isplaying the same image for a long time. • U se the screen saver or power saving function to a void displaying the same image for extended periods o f time. 4. G reen/red/blue/white dots or defective dots remain on the screen. • T his is due to LCD panel characteristics and is not a f ailure. 5. I nterference patterns or pressure marks remain on the screen. • Le ave the monitor with a white or black screen. The s ymptom may disappear. 6. N oise appears on the screen. • I n the Adjustment menu, set “Overdrive” to “Off” ( see “2-5. Configuring Moving Image Performance “ Overdrive”” (page 21)). • W hen entering the signals of HDCP system, the n ormal images may not be displayed immediately. 7. ( DisplayPort-1/DisplayPort-2 input) Display position of the windows changes. • W hen the power is switched on, the position of the w indow may be changed. This problem can be solved b y connecting the USB cable to the monitor and PC. • W hen the signal is switched, the position of the w indow may be changed. The signal may not be s witched even when the hot key that was specified f or ScreenManager Pro for LCD is pressed. In both c ases, turn on “DisplayPort-1” or “DisplayPort-2” u sing “Input Skip” in the Adjustment menu, and skip t he signals not to be used (see “3-9. To Disable Input S ignal “Input Skip”” (page 28)).

(When using EcoView Sense) The images remain to be displayed when you move away from the monitor. / The images do not reappear when you come near it. • C heck the setting environment of the monitor. Pr esence Sensor may not work correctly in the f ollowing environments. - T here is something that reflects the light such as m irror or glass in front of the sensor. - T he m onitor i s l ocated i n ap lace t hat r eceives d irect s unlight. - T here is some infrared device near the monitor. - T here is some obstacle in front of the sensor. • C heck whether any dirt on the sensor. Clean the s ensor with a soft cloth. • C heck whether you are in front of the monitor. The i nfrared ray is emitted vertically from the sensor to d etect a person. 3. T he monitor connected with the USB cable is not detected. / USB devices connected to the monitor does not work. • C heck whether the USB cable is connected correctly ( see “6-3. Making Use of USB (Universal Serial Bus)” (p age 40)). • C hange the USB port to another one. If the PC or p eripheral devices works correctly by changing the U SB port, contact your local dealer. (Refer to the m anual of the PC for details.) • R eboot the PC. • I f the peripheral devices work correctly when the PC a nd peripheral devices are connected directly, please c ontact your local dealer. • C heck whether the PC and OS are USB compliant. ( For USB compliance of the respective devices, c onsult their manufacturers.) • C heck the PC’s BIOS setting for USB when using W indows. (Refer to the manual of the PC for details.)
37Chapter6Reference Chapter 6 Reference 6-1. How to Attach the Optional Arm An optional arm (or an optional stand) can be attached by removing the stand section. Please refer to our web site for the corresponding optional arm (or optional stand). http://www.eizo.com Attention • When attaching an arm or stand, follow the instructions of their User’s Manual. • W hen using another manufacturer’s arm or stand, confirm the following in advance and select one conforming to the VESA standard. - Clearance between the screw holes: 100 mm × 100 mm - Thickness of plate: 2.6 mm - Strong enough to support weight of the monitor unit (except the stand) and attachments such as cables. • U se the screws as described below. - Screws fixing the stand to the monitor. • W hen using an arm or stand, attach it to meet the following tilt angles of the monitor. - Up 45°, down 45° • C onnect the cables after attaching an arm or stand. • D o not move the removed stand up and down. Doing so may result in injury or device damage. • T he monitor and arm or stand are heavy. Dropping them may result in injury or equipment damage. • W hen setting the monitor to the portrait style, turn the monitor screen 90º in clockwise direction. Procedure 1. Lay the LCD monitor on a soft cloth spread over on a stable surface with the panel surface facing down. 2. Remove the stand. Prepare a screwdriver. Loosen the screws (four) securing the unit and the stand with the screwdriver. 3. Attach the arm or stand to the monitor. Secure the monitor to the arm or stand using the screws specified in the User’s Manual of the arm or stand.

When the signal is switched, the active input port name appears at the top right corner of the screen. Note • You can skip a specific input signal. For more information, see “3-9. To Disable Input Signal “Input Skip”” (page 28). ●To set input signal selection “Input Selection” SettingFunction AutoThe monitor recognizes the connector through which PC signals are input. When a PC is turned off or enters the power saving mode, the monitor automatically d isplays another signal. Manual The monitor detects only the PC’s signals currently displaying automatically. Select an a ctive input signal with . Procedure 1. C hoose “Tools” from the Adjustment menu, and press . 2. C hoose “Input Selection” from “Tools”, and press . 3. 40Chapter6Reference 6-3. Making Use of USB (Universal Serial Bus) This monitor has a hub compatible with USB. Connected to a PC compatible with USB or another USB hub, this monitor functions as a USB hub allowing connection to peripheral USB devices. ●Required System Environment 1. A PC equipped with a USB port or another USB hub connected to a USB compatible PC 2. W indows 2000/XP/Vista/7 or Mac OS 9.2.2 and Mac OS X 10.2 or later 3. E IZO USB cable (MD-C93) Attention • This monitor may not work depending on PC, OS or peripheral devices to be used. For USB compatibility of peripheral devices, contact their manufactures. • D evices connected to the USB upstream port and USB downstream port work when the monitor is in power saving mode or when the power button of the monitor is Off. Therefore, power consumption of the monitor varies with connected devices even in the power saving mode. • W hen the main power switch is Off, device connected to the USB port will not operate. ●Connection Procedure (Setup of USB Function) 1. Connect the monitor first to a PC using the signal cable, and run the PC. 2. C onnect the supplied USB cable between the USB downstream port of a USB compatible PC (or another USB hub) and the monitor’s USB upstream port.
