Using Your Projector21 Using the On-Screen Display The projector has a multi-language On-Screen Display (OSD) that can be displayed with or without an input source present. In the Main menu, press or to navigate through the tabs. Press the Enter button on the control panel or the remote control to select a submenu. In the submenu, press or to make a selection. When an item is selected, the color changes to dark gray. Use or on the control panel or the remote control to make adjustments to a setting. To g o b a c k t o Main menu, go to Back tab and press the Enter button on the control panel or the remote control. To exit the OSD, go to Exit tab and press Enter button or press Menu button on the control panel or the remote control. Main Menu Input Select AUTO SOURCE—Select On (Default) to automatically detect the available input signals. When On is selected and you press Source on the control panel/remote, it automatically finds the next available input signal. Select Off to lock the current input signal or to manually select the input signal you want to use. When Off is selected and you press Source , you select which input signal you want. VGA—Press Enter to detect VGA signal. S-V IDEO—Press Enter to detect S-Video signal. 19Auto adjust Press to synchronize the projector with the input source. Auto adjust does not operate if the OSD is displayed. 20Keystone adjustment Press to adjust image distortion caused by tilting the projector. (+40/-35 degrees)
22Using Your Projector COMPOSITE VIDEO—Press Enter to detect Composite Video signal. HDMI— Press Enter to detect HDMI signal. Auto-Adjust Auto Adjust automatically adjusts the projectors display se ttings. While auto adjustment is in progress, the following message appears on the screen: Auto Adjustment in Progress.... Set Up V. KEYSTONE—Allows you to adjust image distortion caused by tilting the projector. A UTO KEYSTONE— Auto adjusts the image distortion by tilting the projector. P ROJECTOR MODE— Select how the image appears: • Front Projection-Desktop (the default). • Rear Projection-Desktop — The projector reverses the image so that you can project the image from behi nd a translucent screen. ASPECT RATIO—Allows you to select an aspect ratio to adjust how the image appears. • Original — The input source scales to fit the screen while keeping the aspect ratio of the input source. • 4:3 — The input source scales to fit the height of the screen. • Wide — The input source scales to fit the screen. PROJECTOR INFO—Press to show the projector model name, the present input source and projector series number (PPID#).
Using Your Projector23 PICTURE (in PC Mode) BRIGHTNESS—Use or to adjust the brightness of the image. C ONTRAST—Use or to control the degree of difference between the brightest and darkest parts of the picture. Adjusting the contrast changes the amount of black and white in the image. C OLOR TEMP—Allows you to adjust the color temperature. The screen appears cooler at higher color temperatures and warmer at lower color temperatures. C OLOR ADJUST—Allows you to manually adjust red, green, and blue color. When you adjust the color value in the Color Adjust menu, the Custom mode is activated, and the color values are saved in the Custom mode. 24Using Your Projector SATURATION—Allows you to adjust a video source from black and white to fully saturated color. Press to decrease the amount of color in the image and to increase the amount of color in the image. S HARPNESS—Allows you to adjust the image sharpness. Press to decrease the sharpness and to increase the sharpness. T INT—Press to increase the amount of green in the image and to increase the amount of red in the image (selectable for NTSC signal only). DISPLAY (in PC Mode) VIDEO MODE—Allows you to optimize the projectors display mode. •PC, Movie, sRGB - provides accurate color representation • Game, and Custom - set your preferred settings NOTE: If you adjust the settings for White Intensity or Degamma, the projector automatically switches to Custom. S IGNAL TYPE—Allows you to manually select the signal type. You set the signal type to RGB, YCbCr, or YPbPr. Z OOM—Press to digitally magnify a default area of image in the center of the screen and press to reduce the zoomed image. Z OOM NAVIGATION—Press to navigate projection screen. W HITE INTENSITY—Set 0 to maximize the color reproduction and 10 to maximize the brightness. D EGAMMA—Allows you to adjust the color performance of the display. You can set the Degamma value to: 1, 2, 3, and 4. Adjust among the 4 preset values to change the color performance of the display. H ORIZONTAL POSITION—Press to move the image to the left and to move the image to the right.
Using Your Projector25 VERTICAL POSITION—Press to move the image down and to move the image up. F REQUENCY—Allows you to change the display data clock frequency to match the frequency of your computer graphics card. If you see a vertical flickering bar, use Frequency control to minimize the bars. This is a coarse adjustment. T RACKING—Allows you to synchronize the phase of the display signal with the graphic card. If you experience an unstable or flickering image, use Tr a c k i n g to correct it. This is a fine adjustment. 26Using Your Projector LAMP Using the Lamp menu, you can adjust the display settings of your projectors. The Picture menu, provides the following options: L AMP HOUR—Displays the operating hours since the last lamp timer reset. P OWER SAVING—Select Ye s to set the Power Saving delay period. The delay period is the time you want the projector to wait without an input signal. By default, the delay period is set to 120 minutes. However, you can set this to 5 minutes, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 45 minutes, 60 minutes, or 120 minutes. If an input signal is not detected during the delay period, the projector turns off the lamp and goes into power saving mode. If an input signal is detected when projector is in power saving mode, the projector automatically turns on. If an input signal is not detected within two hours, the projector switches from Power Saving mode to Power Off mode. To turn on the projector press the Power button. E CO MODE—Select On to use the projector at a lower power level (168 Watts). Operating at lower power levels may provide longer lamp life, quieter operation, and dimmer luminance output on the screen. Select Off to operate at normal power level (212 Watts). L AMP RESET—After you install a new lamp, select Ye s to reset the lamp timer. Q UICK SHUTDOWN—Select Ye s to turn off the projector with a single press of the Power button. This function allows the projector to cool down within a short period of time by accelerating the fan speed. NOTE: If Quick Shutdown is enabled, expect a slightly higher acoustic noise during power off.
Using Your Projector27 LANGUAGE OTHERS VOLUME—Press to decrease the volume and to increase the volume. M UTE—Allows you to enable/disable sound. A UDIO SOURCE—Allows you to select the audio source to either HDMI or Analog (Audio In). C USTOMIZED SCREEN—Press Enter the Customized Screen menu appears. Select YES to capture the screen image as a My Customized logo. This
28Using Your Projector screen replaces all the original screens with the Dell logo. You can recover the default screen by selecting Dell Logo on the pop-up screen. NOTE: To capture a full image, ensure the input signal that is connected to projector is 1280x800 resolution. M ENU LOCK—Select On to enable Menu Lock and hide the OSD menu. Select Off to disable the Menu Lock. NOTE: You can also disable Menu Lock by pressing the Menu button on the control pane or remote control for 15 seconds. M ENU TIMEOUT—Allows you to adjust the time delay of the OSD Timeout. The default setting is 30 seconds. M ENU POSITION—Allows you to select the location of the OSD on the screen. M ENU TRANSPARENCY—Allows you to select the transparency level of the OSD background. P ASSWORD—Allows you to password protect the projector. This security utility enables you to impose a variety of access restrictions to protect your privacy and stop others from tampering with your projector. This means that the projector cannot be used if it is taken without authorization, and thus serves as a theft- prevention feature. Select On to enable password protection. A Please Key In the Password screen appears requesting you to enter a password when the projector is powered on the next time. Select Off to disable password protection. NOTE: Password protection is disabled by default. If you enable this feature, you will be asked to enter the projectors password after you turn on the projector: 11st time password input request: aGo to Others menu, press Enter and then select Password to Enable the password setting .
Using Your Projector29 bEnable the Password function will pop-up a character screen, key in a 4- digit number from the screen and press the Enter button. cTo confirm, enter the password again. dIf the password verification is successful, you may resume with accessing the projectors functions and its utilities. 2If you have entered incorrect password, you will be given another 2 chances. After the three invalid attempts, the projector will automatically turn off. NOTE: If you forget your password, contact Dell. 3To cancel the password function, select OFF and enter the password to disable the function.
30Using Your Projector CHANGE PASSWORD—Allows you to change the password. Key in the original password and then enter the new password. Enter the new password again to confirm. T EST PATTERN—Select 1 or 2 to activate the built-in Test Pattern to test the focus and resolution. Select Off to disable the function. 1 To run the diagnostics test pattern 1, press and hold the Menu button and button on the projectors control panel simultaneously for two seconds. 2To run the diagnostics test pattern 2, press and hold the Menu button and button on the projectors control panel simultaneously for two seconds. NOTE: To enable test pattern 2, it is required to connect an input signal to projector. F ACTORY RESET —Select On to reset the projector to its factory default settings.
