291 Troubleshooting Guide If you change the shutter speed or aperture during movie shooting, the changes in the exposure may be recorded. Zooming the lens during movie shooting can cause changes in the exposure regardless of whether the lens’ maximum aperture changes or not. The changes in the exposure may be recorded as a result. If you move the camera to the left or right quickly (high-speed panning) or shoot a moving subject, the image may look distorted. Flickering, horizontal stripes (noise), or irregular exposures can be caused by fluorescent light, LED bulbs, or other light sources during movie shooting. Also, changes in the exposure (brightness) or color tone may be recorded. With manual exposure, a slow shutter speed may solve the problem. In Basic Zone modes and in movie shooting mode, certain tabs and menu options are not displayed. Set the shooting mode to a Creative Zone mode (p.48). Set the color space to sRGB. If Adobe RGB is set, the first character will be an underscore (p.131). The exposure changes during movie shooting. The subject looks distorte d during movie shooting. The image flickers or horizo ntal stripes appear during movie shooting. Display Problems The menu screen shows fewer tabs and options. The file name’s first charact er is an underscore (“_”). COPY
Troubleshooting Guide 292 It is a movie file (p.185). If the card already contains recorded images, the image number may not start from 0001 (p.184). Make sure the correct date and time has been set (p.37). Check the time zone and daylight saving time (p.37). The shooting date and time does not appear in the picture. The date and time is recorded in the image data as shooting information. When printing, you can imprint the date and time in the picture by using the date and time recorded in the shooting information (p.245). If the card has recorded a number of images greater than the camera can display, [ ###] will be displayed (p.209). If the LCD monitor is dirty, use a soft cloth to clean it. In low or high temperatures, the LCD monitor display may seem slow or may look black. It will return to normal at room temperature. [Eye-Fi settings] will appear only when an Eye-Fi card is inserted in the camera. If the Eye-Fi card has a write-protect switch set to the LOCK position, you will not be able to check the card’s connection status or disable Eye-Fi transmission (p.272). The file name starts with “MVI_”. The file numbering does not start from 0001. The shooting date and time displayed is incorrect. The date and time is not in the picture. [###] is displayed. The LCD monitor does not display a clear image. [Eye-Fi settings] does not appear. COPY
293 Troubleshooting Guide It is the highlight alert (p.231). Overexposed highlight areas with a loss of highlight detail will blink. If the image is protected, it cannot be erased (p.225). Movies edited with a computer using ImageBrowser EX (p.319) or other EOS software cannot be played back with the camera. However, video snapshot albums edited with EOS Video Snapshot Task (p.171) can be played back on the camera. If you operate the camera’s dials or lens during movie shooting, the operation noise will also be recorded. During autoexposure movie shooting, if there is a drastic change in the exposure level, the recording will stop momentarily until the brightness stabilizes. In such cases, shoot movies with manual exposure (p.156). An HDMI cable (sold separately) is necessary to connect the camera to a TV set. Using the HDMI Cable HTC-100 (sold separately) is recommended (p.222). Also check that your TV set has an HDMI IN terminal. If the TV set does not have an HDMI IN terminal and has only an A/V IN jack, the camera cannot be connected. Playback Problems Part of the image blinks in black. The image canno t be erased. The movie cannot be played back. When the movie is played b ack, camera operation noise can be heard. The movie has still moments. I cannot connect the ca mera to my TV set. COPY
Troubleshooting Guide 294 Make sure the HDMI cable’s plug is inserted all the way in (p.222). Depending on the card reader and computer OS used, SDXC cards may not be correctly recognized. If this occurs, connect your camera to the computer with the provided interface cable, then transfer the images to your computer using EOS Utility (EOS software, p.318). JPEG c and RAW images cannot be resized with the camera (p.237). No image appears on the TV screen. My card reader does no t recognize the card. I cannot resize the image. COPY
295 Troubleshooting Guide Contents displayed on the screen differ depending on the printer. This instruction manual lists all the printing effects available (p.244). Install the EOS software (EOS DIGITAL Solution Disk CD-ROM) on the computer (p.320). Printing-Related Problems There are fewer printing effects than listed in the instruction manual. Computer Connection Problems I cannot download images to a computer. COPY
