Maintenance and Usage Tips for the Alpha® AIR-300 AIR-300 HEADQUARTERS 103 Bauer Drive Oakland, New Jersey 07436 USA For more information on tool repair and maintenance or to learn more about our loaner tool program, contact us at: Visit us on the web at: www.alpha-tools.com Tool Dept. Help Desk: 800-648-7229 (Toll Free) 201-337-3343 Ext. 281 Tool Dept. Fax: 201-337-2265 At the end of each workday, 2-3 drops of AIR-008, solvent free oil (included with each polisher) should be placed in the air inlet at the base of the tool. Rotate the spindle counter clockwise, by hand 3-4 revolutions. (Replacement containers of oil may be purchased from Alpha Professional Tools® Part # AIR-008.) Automatic oilers are not recommended: the volume, grade, and composition of oil used may cause premature failure. In-line air dryers are recommended to extend the life of the tool. An in-line filter / regulator is recommended to remove water and air line contamination before it can get into the tool. Old or worn compressors, which emit oil through the air lines, can dramatically shorten the life of the tool. Do not leave the tool submersed in water. This could expose the inner moving parts to moisture, which will shorten the life of the tool. Do not leave threaded accessories (backer pads, core drill bits, profilers) on the spindle of tool for extended periods of time; this may result in making it difficult to remove these accessories. Excessive force or impact to the spindle may result in premature failure of gears and/or bearings, which may not be immediately evident. Operating the tool at a pressure that exceeds the recommended operating specifications of 6 bars (87 psi) or without the silencer may result in premature failure of the tool. New grease should be added and purged from the gearbox periodically. • • • • • • • • • •
