UltraAV™ HDMI 4-2 Audio/Video Switch IMPORTANT READ ME FIRST –INSTRUCTION MANUAL Congratulations on your purchase of the UltraAV™ HDMI 4-2 Audio/Video Switch. This HDMI switch is designed to select and transmit an audio and video signal from 1 of up to 4 HDMI A/V devices to 2 displays or projectors at once. For use with a DVI device, please use an optional HDMI to DVI adapter or HDMI to DVI cable. Features: • Supported Resolutions: 480i, 480p, 720p, 720i, and 1080i, 1080p (1920 x 1200 computer resolution) • Built-in signal booster • Supports HDCP compliant devices • Smart technology, switches to active source About the Infrared Extender: In order to operate the HDMI switch with the remote control the switch must be in the line-of-sight of the remote control. The switch has a built-in Infrared (IR) sensor that communicates with the remote control. If the HDMI switch is placed out-of-sight then the IR extender is to be used. The remote control can communicate with the switch through the IR extender. The IR sensor on the switch is disabled when the IR extender is plugged into the port labeled “IE” on the rear of the HDMI 4-2 Switch. About the Built-in Booster: The HDMI 4-2 Switch has a built-in signal booster that supports up to a 65’ (20m) cable length between each A/V source and the switch and 16’ (5m) between the switch and each video display. Alternatively, Accell’s UltraRun HDMI cables are available in lengths from 33’ (10m) up to 147’ (45m). How to Connect the HDMI Switch (please follow the steps in the order described): Step 1: Insert the included power adapter into the power jack labeled “DC 5V” located on the rear of the HDMI switch. Plug the adapter into an active power outlet. The green LED labeled “On/Off” will now be illuminated. Step 2: Connect the HDMI cables from each of the A/V sources into the inputs labeled “CH1”,“CH2”,“CH3” and “CH4” located on the rear of the HDMI switch. Note: The switch will default to CH1 first, CH2 second, CH3 third and CH4 lastly. Plug the A/V sources into the switch in the order they are used most often starting with CH1. The switch will prioritize each of the inputs giving you greater control. Step 3: Connect the HDMI cables from each of the displays (or projectors) into the “HDMI Out” ports on the rear of the HDMI switch. Step 4: Power on the A/V sources and displays (or projectors). Step 5: If locating the HDMI switch in an out-of-sight location, use the IR extender. See About the Infrared Extender above. Inserting the Battery Into the Remote Control: A 3V “coin” battery is included inside the remote control. To activate the battery, remove the clear plastic strip protruding from the bottom of the remote. The remote control is ready for use. To replace the battery, remove the battery holder located on the lower rear of the remote control. While pushing the slotted tab inwards pull the battery holder out. The battery holder allows the battery to be inserted only in the correct position. Slide the battery holder back into the remote control. How to Operate the HDMI Switch: 1. Push the On or Off button on the remote control to control the power. When the switch is turned off using the remote control, the Select button on the front of the switch can be used to turn on the power. Note: When all of the A/V input devices are turned off, the switch goes into power saving mode. 2. Use the remote control to remotely toggle between sources. The Select button will scroll between the active video sources in order. Pressing the numbers 1, 2, 3 or 4 will switch directly to the selected video source. 3. Alternatively, use the push button labeled “Select” on the HDMI switch to toggle between CH1~Ch4. 4. If only 1 video source is turned on (active) the switch will automatically switch to the active video source. Troubleshooting: -If the HDMI switch works intermittently or the active channel lights are not illuminated, 1. Unplug all the HDMI cables and power cable, including the IR extender if used, from the HDMI switch. 2. Reconnect all of the cables in the order described above in “How to Connect the HDMI Switch”. -If the HDMI switch fails to operate using BOTH the manual push button and the remote control, 1. Ensure the switch, HDMI sources and the displays (or projectors) are powered on. 2. Check both ends of each HDMI cable to ensure that they are fully inserted into each device. -If the HDMI switch works with the manual push button but fails to operate using the remote control, 1. Ensure the clear plastic strip protruding from the bottom of the remote has been removed. 2. Ensure the switch, or if used the IR Extender, is in line-of-sight to the remote control. 3. Unplug all the cables, including the IR extender if used, from the HDMI switch. Reconnect all of the cables in the order described above in “How to Connect the HDMI Switch”. 4.
